A few hundred dollars spent, 90 minutes of condescension, 2 hang ups, and long processing times is all it takes for you to not have a Christmas tree this year. I ordered the 6.5ft unlit classic blue spruce, and when fully set up, stand and all, it came in a whopping 5'9". Nine inches may not sound like a lot, but it's the difference between being over my head or under my nose (not to mention being Division III vs. starting NBA). Call customer service. Hung up on. Call back and after 50 minutes of dismissive arguments, I'm told that it may only be 69-in. based on "my system" (you know, the Imperial Measurement System), but tough because every tree listed at 6.5ft (78-in.) will measure that tall. I'm also told the Federal Trade Commission and Truth and Advertising aren't really a thing, and if they were, they wouldn’t care. He knows, he was a paralegal. My options are then spelled out: 1) Deal with it and keep the wee tree. If I don't like it, donate it (I'm not kidding), but there would be no refund 2) Get a refund, minus an exorbitant shipping and restocking fee for their labors in deception 3) Return the tree and get a credit to spend more money with this provenly deceptive company and get a bigger tree. He recommends a 7.5ft tree, because that might be 6.5ft according to my (and the rest of the U.S.'s) system of measurement. Oh, and I certainly won't have it for this Christmas. At this rate, maybe I'll have a St. Patrick's Day tree. Over the course of this conversation, I asked to talk to a manager 4 times. Manager request 1: My manager is busy. Manager request 2: It could be a while. Your time is valuable. You don't want to wait. I'd call back. Manager request 3: Ok, I'll go ask. (On hold again.) He doesn't want to talk to you. Manager request 4: Fine, you can wait. (Put on hold for 30 minutes, hung up on.) Call back and fight my way through to a manager (after another wait period). Manager picks up and swears his employees would never confirm this deception (they did, repeatedly). And ultimately, Amazon should return my tree. The tree is beautiful itself. However, I have had problems trying to get it to fluff out and look full like the picture. Maybe it’s just my fault, but I cannot get it to look full and fluffy like the picture and the lower branches hang down really low. I cannot get them to stay up Other than that. I like the tree it’s beautiful when lit and decorated. I have tried several times to call balsam Hill to see if they could offer me any suggestions, but the line is busy and I can’t hang on for 30 minutes just to ask a question But all in all I’m pretty much satisfied is just that I cannot get it to look as full as I wanted it to look. The quality is great. The lighting is beautiful. Value for the money? I think it’s a little bit off. Happy it was on sale but still a bit pricey for the size of the tree and the problems I’m having with it. ... show more

If you are comparing this tree and the cost to a tree you grab off the shelf at a big box store, you can't. I was extremely hesitant to spend this kind of $$ on an artificial tree but can justify it now that it's out of the box and assembled. The quality of construction is evident in the design of the tree simply looking at the wrapping holding the stems to the individual branches. The integrated post "plug" for the lights is also simple and cuts down on SOME of the wires. The 9'6" is actually nearly 10' with the top branch stretched out which was a nice surprise as I assumed it would be a stretch to make it meet the stated height. Nonetheless, the aesthetics of the tree - very pleasing. So many individual branches you can fill any gap but on the flip side it does take time. It's worth it, totally, but if you are looking for a tree you can toss up in 30 mins and it be "fluffed" - this isn't it. The only real critique other than the cost is the lighting - I went with the pre-lit tree and in my mind thought the wires would be more "hidden" than they actually are. Full integration of the wires into the center of each branch would be a great addition for future models and frankly for the cost, an enhancement I hope they make. Overall - quite pleased at the final outcome and support that you can in fact get the actual to quite closely resemble the marketing photos. It just takes a bit of time.
