Bought as a gift for my granddaughter and as an experienced seamstress, I had trouble with the bobbin to begin with, then the needle kept breaking when using cotton. Final blow was the screw on the internal portion of the machine was catching the thread and getting wound up and breaking with just a few stitches. Unable to unwind the mess since the machine screw inside was unreachable. I am letting my granddaughter use my reliable Singer. By the way, she had 2 weeks of training from the local sewing store before using the machine. This machine is not reliable and I hope it is not restocked. I am submitting this rating hoping that the BCP manufacturers will correct this problem.

I bought this sewing machine to teach my granddaughter how to make clothing. It is the perfect sewing machine for an amateur teenager who is just beginning to learn how to sew. The machine is functional, easy to use, and is capable of sewing any thickness of fabric. Its light weight allows for her to take it to her home for practice and bring it back to my home for study and learning.

So we got this about 4 months ago for a christmas present. My daughter has used it a lot and im giving it 3 stars because she spends more time threading it than sewing with it. Other than that it works decent and is an ok starter if you want a machine but dont want to invest a lot of money

My 11 year old had wanted a sewing machine. My mom and I both sew (she much more than I do) so I wanted to give her something that would be easy to transition to a bigger machine eventually. many of the kids machines I found were cute, but seemed too different from what would be used as an adult. She was ecstatic to get this and has already started using it. My mom helped her get started while I was working, and mentioned that the instructions were not very helpful and would be difficult for someone that didn't already have an understanding of sewing machines.

Its a great machine. I'm currently helping people learn how to sew, but since I don't know how to sew, I had to learn myself in the process. Setup was less than 15 minutes with the help of online tutorials. All the supplies are present and you don't need anything extra except a working outlet. (Oh wait! You don't even need an outlet if you have batteries. I heard the discussion boards say that the battery setup is fine, but a little less powerful, so be careful). This is an extremely portable device. I can see many people using this as their primary sewing machine because it is diverse enough to perform basic tasks. If you are sewing anything larger and thicker than Summer/Fall type clothes, you might run into some power and needle issues; otherwise I can see myself doing the small basic stuff just fine. I enjoyed it so much, I had to buy two more sewing machines; as gifts for the other folks I'm helping to learn. The cost and what you get out of the box is perfect for beginners to get all the supplies and start sewing.
