I have been a sewing enthusiast for a while now, and this sewing machine was the least expensive option I could find. I tried making some little things here and there and I got frustrated at first. The instructions say specifically to thread it correctly or it could break. This machine is mainly plastic, and seems a bit flimsy, but after realizing that sometimes the thread would get stuck, I also realized it would get fix by gently rolling the wheel on the right side. I was able to make this dress for my daughters birthday with this machine, so it definitely works; it just requires a learning curve. It was difficult to work with the satin in the dress, but I fixed it by ironing. Is it like a Brother or singer machine? No. But it would work for simple things. I got this little sewing machine to taper things and possibly do a few repairs on some articles of clothing. It's really cute, and I ended up having to go to YouTube to find out how to really use it. When I got my sewing machine it was already threaded and someone had threaded the bobbin in upside down. So I was having a terrible time getting anything sewn. As soon as I flipped the bobbin around the machine worked. I found out immediately it doesn't like knit fabric. You have to be really careful when you're trying to sew that. try not to stretch it. Also the thread that is supplied is not a real good quality. If you use your own bobbins and your own thread you will be happier. I switched out to one of my own threads and it made everything much more smoothly. Be sure to try to find a tutorial on this specific sewing machine on YouTube. You will thank yourself For watching it, because immediately you will know how to use it your machine. I'm very happy I purchased this. I don't need to do these little sewing jobs by hand anymore. ... show more

I was excited to get this small, handy sewing machine for my lightweight craft projects. I used it for less than an hour total time and the tension so screwed up - for NO REASON - that the thread kept breaking and balling up the lower thread. I tried to do the fixes but the tension control would NOT move without shear force. I tried a new needle and it was such a hassle with the small work area and loose pieces that kept falling and rolling away that I ended up throwing the stupid thing in the trash!!!! DO NOT BUY THIS PIECE OF CRAP!!!! ... show more

Just got this machine and did a very quick test. Pros: it’s surprisingly sturdy, has a terrific “gait” if that is what the movement can be called, and sews like a charm EXCEPT: it will not even stitch on stretch tee shirt material and that is v v disappointing. Ie, i did a few tests of each stitch on three fabrics, a cotton twill, a light single layer denim and the stretch tee shirt material (spandex/cotton) first two fabrics sewed easily, the machine could not handle the tee material it literally did not stitch at all. So i layered it up to four layers and at four layers, i got maybe two stitches then it just didn’t stitch at all on that material. **update if you deal w thread fraying or breaking: first try replacing the needle (this worked for me, im guessing the one shipped in it was bent or burred), second check if your needle is hitting the bobbin loop/hook, third feel your bobbin hook to see if it has a burr on it and give it a few rubs w an emory board. Purchased this to ease back into sewing. Pros: lightweight and small Cons: I have never had a machine unthread itself for absolutely no reason as often as this did. Tensions were checked every time, it just didn't want to work. I committed myself to work through one small project fully with this machine. I made it through but it took far longer than it should have. Threading this machine was an unnecessary pain. While most machines have hooks for easy threading, this thing had holes you had to push the thread through. The light was less than helpful for this as well due to its brightness hitting all the chrome. Your last step to get the thread through the needle, you basically had to do by a hope and poke method. What should take a few seconds, took upwards of 5 minutes, and a lot of cussing. Alternative pro: this definitely pushed me to consider an actual proper sewing machine. ... show more
