  • Amazing guitar!
Color: Redburst Size: 30in
This guitar looks amazing! I was so surprised that it wasn’t a kiddie looking guitar. My grandson loves it! And the price was great!

  • Great child and beginner guitar!
Color: Blueburst Size: 30in
My daughter loves her new guitar! It's so pretty and she picked out the color herself. It's great for a child of her age, it isn't big and bulky. Perfect fit for small hands!

  • Decent guitar with some flaws Decent guitar with some flaws
Color: Sunburst Size: 30in
We bought this guitar for our two year olds birthday present. That being said, it suits our needs at this time. The overall quality of the product was fair, but there was definitely a lot of blemishes. It arrived with chips in the body of the guitar on the back, there was some warping on the side front of the guitar, there were chips and uneven bits on multiple parts of the neck of the guitar. The design around the sound hole is just a sticker. We were able to get it tuned for the most part. There were one or two strings that were not getting where it needed to be. We ordered the smaller size of this guitar. The pros are I like how the tuning pegs are fully wrapped around making it safer for little fingers. I also like the three nylon strings. It came with a carrying case some pics and extra strings, which was nice. Overall, it’s a nice guitar for young beginners, but don’t expect perfection. The price was decent for it looking more like a real guitar and not being toy or childlike. ... show more

  • It's exactly as described It's exactly as described
Color: Black Size: 38in
I was nervous after purchasing this and seeing if this was going to blow up in my face or not. I haven't played guitar since I was 8 years old and I didn't want to go in and spend a crazy amount on something that could and more than likely will just end up catching dust. This guitar comes with nylon strings -- many reviews says otherwise but I can assure you they come with nylon strings -- they're not amazing strings. My 5th string came with a little but of rust about 4 inches up from the bridge. The bridge is not reinforced with anything besides glue and hope. If you apply to much tension you will rip the bridge right off this guitar. Be smart and a use a tuner — there’s room for user error in this and if you want to just go super tight then you’re going to have a bad time I heard cracks and remembers it’s a $50 guitar package not just guitar. The extra strings did come individually wrapped and labeled in a nice plastic pouch. I kept the original string for 48 hours to allow them to stretch and see how they play. They're very tough on your fingers and I can make playing cumbersome. I visited a local music shop and purchased some nylon high tension chords with beads on the end and they've worked well on this instrument; not a lot of strain on the neck or body of this instrument ; the bridge hasn’t been ripped off and it keeps a tune much longer than the original strings. With the original guitar I was able to keep a tune for 1.5 hours and would have to retune after putting the guitar down and doing something else. With the new chords I have been able to be in tune for 48 hours and have no problem in keeping the guitar in tune. This guitar comes with no scratch plate, it’s a small feature that I know look back and wish I knew I wanted before purchasing- you can purchase separately but why not just buy something complete? If you are expecting to hit and knock your guitar THIS IS NOT the guitar for you. This guitar is a beginner guitar it’s meant to learn structure, rhythm and how to work with a guitar. It’s not meant to be hammered hard or pushed to a limit like a Yamaha or Gibson might have. Again I wouldn’t worry about bumping this guitar against the wall or dropping it off the bed or sofa; I would worry about it being punched and hit. Tuning the guitar with its original strings wasn’t as difficult as many people described it; I used an tuning app on my phone and was able to have all strings in tune in 3 minutes with that app. The tuner provided comes with a battery but I actually broke the backing to it as soon as I put the battery in so I guess that tells you how much that worked out for me. The travel bag is a nice place to keep all your things; your probably wouldn’t want this bag to travel in an airport; or a road trip. This is probably a stay in the room and keep everything consolidated type of thing. The capo has found home on the head of my guitar covering the BCP logo. It works well and sits snuggly atop of the frets. No complaints on the springs or the material that touches the chords. The picks are nice and I noticed a difference in thickness across some of the picks , silver being thinnest and blue being thickest. Would I recommend this purchase for someone just learning guitar or nervous about spending more money on a mod-level guitar that might take a longer time to learn how to play. This guitar is fun- it gives great sound, it’s whole and rich. Biggest take away- buy extra strings- buy a tuner winder - download a free tuner app on a local device - be prepared to buy another guitar in 2-4 months just because you’ll have so much fun playing this one you’ll out grow it and need to get an electric. BCP offers an electric acoustic I wish I checked that one out. ... show more

  • I like it but...BUT....
When I spend 40 dollars on a guitar I am not expecting much. Lets get all the obvious stuff out of the way: The guitar bag it comes with doesnt fit, the "tuner" is actually a pitch pipe (I mean it works but dont call it a tuner) the pick it comes with is ridiculously huge (Ironically I have very large hands so I am able to use it if I want, I just dont) and the strings it comes with are laughable and should be replaced immediately. The Guitar Strap is too short to be usable on an accoustic guitar unless you add a strap button at the base of the neck. That being said... I didnt buy this for the bag, the "tuner", the pick, or the strings. I paid the 40$ for an accoustic/electric guitar. So lets look at that. the wood used for the guitar body has a very fragile feel to it (like if you dropped the guitar onto a hard surface it might not be able to take the fall. (As a matter of fact I actually did just that and the guitar survived just fine, but it still feels excessively light) The neck is made of sturdy enough wood and the action on the strings is actually remarkably easy on your fingers. This guitar does have one very DIRE shortcoming that I found: The wood glue used to affix the neck to the body came undone merely by my tightening the strings. (I dont mean it fell apart, I mean you saw it starting to seperate from the body) There is a very easy solution to this problem. I drilled a small hole right dead center where the neck meets the body and then drilled a 3 inch drywall screw into it, affixing the neck to the body. No more problems after that. (Some might complain that they shouldnt have to do such a thing...to which I respond, its a 40 dollar accoustic electric guitar, if thats all you have to do to make it playable then its not that big a deal) If anything I think if the company started doing this themselves that would be just fine as it doesnt hurt the sound at all. The sound is unique...it sounds like a cheap guitar. its the best way to describe it. I dont mean this in a bad way; this is actually a sound many musicians try to create (Especially handy for playing blues). The lack of dots on the fretboard can be disorienting at first but its nothing major and if it really bothers you you could add your own I suppose. Ive seen a lot of reviews saying this is only good as maybe a beginner guitar. I would disagree and if anything I would say the opposite...unless you have some decent experience with guitars I wouldnt suggest this. But if you know guitars and are looking for something with a gritty poor mans blues sound that you just want to play with for your own amusement then this guitar is fine. The equalizer actually works very well and sound comes through loud and clear on any amplifier. If you put some decent strings on it then it holds its tune very well once youve screwed the neck to the body. I would say this is an okay guitar once you make the one modification I described. I actually get a kick out of playing it. For 40 bucks, to me it was well worth it, just know what you are getting is all. ... show more

  • Great for Beginners
When I found out that I had to take a guitar class because other classes were full, I decided to buy one of my own! I didn't want a fancy pancy acoustic guitar because I knew it would cost a lot! I came upon this one, and this New Black Cutaway Acoustic Guitar was the solution to my problem! Let's go into further detail: TIME: the guitar arrived a day before Amazon told me it would! Imagine that, a day earlier! (5/5) PACKAGING: the guitar combo pack came in a big brown box! The box itself was very damp, and when I opened it, it had everything the info said it would! The guitar was a little dirty at first, but that didn't matter, you could always clean it up! (4/5) QUALITY OF MAIN ITEM: the guitar seemed nice at first glance, but when you look into it's finish and the body, it seemed a little beat up! Bumps and few scratches are on the guitar! But what should you expect, it is for beginners, and cheap too! (4/5) QUALITY OF EVERY ITEM: when I opened the box, I thought the items it was supposed to come with wasn't there! Actually they are in the provided guitar bag! The bag is made out of a cheap gym bag material, but it keeps it safe (that is if you don't hit it against other things)! The pick could have had a design on it, its just plain white! I haven't used the extra strings yet! The guitar strap is alright, it gets the job done! The tuner is not electric, it is a pitch pipe and you blow into it, kind of like a kazoo! (4/5) QUALITY OF SOUND: when I strummed it, it was definitely out of tune! I had it tuned in class and I noticed when the other guitars were strummed, it sounded different then the other acoustic guitars! After its tuned, it still sounds nice, I would like it if it sounded like the others though! (4/5) PRICE: for a cheap guitar, this is the correct price for this! With all that it comes, I would have imagined the price to be bigger! (5/5) OVERALL: (5/5) It worked great, its cheap and all but it worked for my class, even though the sound is just a little off! So yeah, buy it, I would recommend this to all beginners! ... show more

  • Sky Black Acoustic Electric Cutaway Guitar w/ accesories
I believe in writing thorough, detailed reviews for the items I purchase, good or bad. This one's gonna be bad. (I really like vonspyder's review, but I'm going to elaborate further.) I figured some people just don't know what to look for when buying a starter guitar, so I ignored the negative reviews and decided to give this one a try for myself. All things considered, I think either Sky Guitars has a real problem with quality control or some people really don't know anything about guitars....or both. I'm no expert by any means, but I have been studying guitars for about a year. Every chance I get, I google little details on every different guitar I hear about, see, or have the pleasure of a friend letting me play. I won't go into any of those details now, but let's just say that seriously, I have nothing good to say about this guitar. Keep in mind, I completely expected it to be CHEAP, I mean it was $40! I wasn't expecting a Gibson here, but I did expect it to at least be PLAYABLE. Now I've bought a $40 Rogue guitar from Amazon and I was really impressed, but this Sky guitar isn't even close in quality. It is advertised as a full size guitar. It's not, it's a 3/4 size. Even the body is small, which might be ok for a kid or a small girl. At first, I thought maybe I just got a bad one (which may be true), but the list of negatives totally outweigh the pros. Again, I'm no expert, but even an absolute novice can tell the difference between a decent guitar and crap, and this one is total crap from the beginning. The one I received had a huge chunk of wood missing from between the nut and the first fret. It was right where your finger should press down and form a note. That's what made mine UN-PLAYABLE right there. This was not damaged from shipment, it was well packaged and the box arrived undamaged. Upon closer inspection, someone tried to hide the missing chunk with with black touch up paint and shipped it out anyway. There was even some of that black paint on the string above the missing chunk. This one should have never left the factory. But the list goes on....the whole fretboard has so many lumps of only God knows what in the finish, it cannot be played smoothly. The fretboard should be smooth finished wood, but this was like a rough piece of plywood coated in black paint. Even the frets have black paint on the edges of all of them. The frets are uneven heights all along the fretboard and create horrible buzzing on any note played. Also each of the frets seemed to be covered in some kind of clear lacquer that flakes off all over the place which makes them even more rough and uneven, so you can forget about string bending. There is no truss rod, so the neck cannot be adjusted in any way. Bottom line, this is not a good guitar in any way, shape, or form. Even if you get your fingers to form a perfect chord, the sound is horrible. I bought this for my brother who wants to learn guitar and I will NOT give this to him. If you give this guitar for someone to "learn" on, I promise it will make them absolutely hate playing guitar! The only bright sides are: 1) I received it like 2 days even when I chose the slowest/cheapest shipping possible... 2) The seller did give me a no-questions-asked full refund (shipping included) and for this...the seller gets FIVE STARS! They didn't even ask for me to ship it back, just told me to dispose of it...which I will do. I'm thinking of doing a rock video and smashing it to pieces or lighting it on fire. Now let's talk about those accessories. Basically, they're all worthless...but since I'm reviewing, here we go. The bag fits a full size 41" dreadnought...I have one, I put it in there. But this guitar is 38" high and very narrow. The bag is too long and way too wide for such a small guitar...and lets face it, its just a dust cover anyway. It's so thin and cheap, it won't protect it from anything but dust. The pitch pipe will NOT help you tune it. Each of the pitches it produces are off, I checked it against an electronic tuner...some are sharp and some are flat, but not a single one were on pitch. The strings are really thin and cheap. I broke the high E just trying to tune it. The extra set seems just as cheap. The "pick" is like 3 times the size of a normal pick. I saw it and was like, WTF is THAT? Seriously, take a credit card, cut it in half, and that's about what you get. Unless your hands are the size of Shaquille O'Neal, it's not usable either. I really wish they had left those out and just made a better guitar. Oops, almost forgot the strap. I can't say anything bad about the strap. It's a basic strap, but it will fit the guitar. There is a button at the bottom of the guitar to attach it to, but no button at the top. This is not uncommon on inexpensive guitars, you just tie it around the neck above the nut with the provided piece of string. But seriously...if you want a cheap, starter guitar, don't bother with this one. It really does suck monkey balls. If you read this review and still want to buy this, please consider taking that $40 and hiring a homeless person to kick you as hard as he can in the nuts. I promise you'll feel better at the end of the day! :-) ... show more
