I wasn't sure what to expect after reading the reviews but I am more than just pleasantly surprised that my guitar showed up packaged well, undamaged, shinny and beautiful! For as much as it cost and all that came with it: pitch pipe, Snark brand digital tuner, pick, pretty pick guard decal, extra set of strings, nylon carrying case and shoulder strap! It felt more like a steal than a bargain. Hey, this ain't no toy. It's just a nice little affordable guitar. I wouldn't waste this on a kid that's going bang it around, get them one of those cheap plastic kind until they can learn to care for this one. This is an excellent choice for a great starter guitar on a tight budget to either find out if you have the kind of passion and discipline it takes to become a musician or you just like the idea. If you find out you have what it takes then upgrade later. And if it just becomes an ornamental conversation piece then that's okay too. You won't feel like you wasted your money either way. I am no kid and am excitedly happy about just looking at this guitar right now. I selected a black one. It's going to show dust and smudges but I don't care. That's just the nature of the color black. This is not my first guitar and I am no kid. I have owned a few guitars since I was a girl but my passions are more in fine art and writing. That doesn't mean I can't enjoy plucking around. I find it relaxing. There is nothing like the sound of an acoustic guitar to me and those that master playing one are amazing. The biggest reason why I lost interest in guitar before now is because I couldn't "get" how to tune one. It was so frustrating to me because I just didn't have the natural ear or patience. I had no idea that there was such a thing as a digital guitar tuner until I made this purchase. What a wonderful invention! This digital tuner that comes with the guitar is a good one and super easy to use. It is going to make a huge difference in my level of enjoyment attention span to learn. You really don't need anything else except lessons and the book I ordered surprised me with three free months of online video lessons too. My experience involving this purchase has simply surpassed all my expectations and I would highly recommend it to anyone!

40 + years ago I had a nice Martin acoustic guitar. Fiddled around with it a little bit but never got really serious. Long story short I ended up selling it and didn't think much about guitar at all for decades. (I was a keyboard guy.) Fast forward to today (and another long story short) I found myself noodling around with an electric guitar (unplugged) while hanging out on the couch watching TV. I like to practice my chords and scales and so forth while doing it. My brother suggested that an acoustic would be much more suitable for that purpose. I've forgotten pretty much everything I once knew, so I am pretty much truly a beginner again lol. So, the search began... And I stumbled across this guitar. I wasn't looking to spend a lot of money. (If you haven't priced any instruments lately, it can be breathtaking how expensive they've gotten.) Again, I just wanted something that I could practice with very informally. And I didn't want something big like a dreadnought because it would be too bulky for how I wanted to use it. This one looked great but it is definitely a basic, bare-bones guitar. Very suitable for my purposes. But my particular one had a problem: The action wasn't right. Strings were way too close to the frets and so they buzzed at times. Extremely annoying. I did everything I could to try to ameliorate the situation but to no avail. Ended up taking it over to a local music store where it didn't cost me much to have it fixed properly. Very reasonable. I then contacted the manufacturer for a refund for that repair. After providing them with a receipt, they were happy to oblige and reimburse me for it. This little Best Choice guitar is fine for people like me or beginners of any flavor. As others have noted the strings don't like to stay in tune very well, but once they are appropriately stretched over time that issue vastly improves. (Strings are also cheap. So that's another easy fix. I'm going to keep using mine until they give up the ghost and then I'll change them out.) Initially, I had to bring them up over two octaves to proper pitch. (That should be done Very slowly to avoid potential string breakage. Patience is definitely a virtue here. You definitely want to make sure your kid, or anyone else, doesn't crank away at the tuners to try to quickly get them in pitch.) It's not a Martin by any stretch. But for what it is, it sounds and works fine. I wouldn't hesitate to get another one if need be. The tuner that came with it works fairly well too. No complaints. Again, great value for the money.

This was bought for an 11 yr old, he's tall so going with a full size guitar worked best. It came packaged well with the starter kit of a guitar bag, strap, picks, tuner, clamp, cleaning cloth, and extra strings. It was easy to tune, and sounds good. Perfect gift for a beginner to start with.
