Purchased this machine and received it on January 18th, and so far have experienced no problems with it. My stitches are perfect, it threads easily and is simple and easy to operate; The booklet that comes with it has only picture instructions, but you can go to the Bernette website and download a detailed PDF instruction manual, which I did and which was really helpful. It's a solid machine, easy to use, and perfect for the type of sewing I do - it's what I expected it to be and I'm very satisfied with it.

There was a learning curve for me. This is my first sewing machine with a drop in bobbin. I mastered it from directions provided, then found an online video that confirmed it. No problems otherwise. Overall it's a very sturdy machine for a portable.

This will be my first return ever to Amazon. As another reviewer noted, there is a piece that's hitting other parts inside so the handwheel gets stuck, and the motor just hums when pressing the foot pedal. When I looked inside I saw plastic in a couple of places where my old Brother has only metal so I'm leery of reordering. I do like the weight. I don't like the matte plastic exterior.

This little sewing machine is easy to learn. I chose not to buy an electronic sewing machine. I just don’t care for them. This is a much less expensive version of the Bernina that I previously owned. It is very fast and has several different stitches. I really like it.

I am in love with machine. It's my first new one in 50 years and I'm in awe! No needless bells, whistles and computerization. Simply great sewing! Only drawback is small throat but it seems like its no problem, for me yet!

I bought this as a new machine, however, it appears to be used. Fabric is under the presser foot, thread is in the machine. I am trying to decide if I should box it up and send it back or just accept the fact I have been duped.

I was really excited about this machine, I watched all the videos I could find on it, and read any reviews I could get my hands on. Sadly, after unboxing, I discovered the handwheel doesn't turn. The joint inside, that moves the needle up and down is obstructed by another metal component making it impossible to rotate. What was also peculiar is that the boxes the machine came in were not damaged at all; and, it came with the standard test fabric showing that the stitches were tested. But, I have no idea how/when they could have been tested because the machine literally doesn't run (either by the turning of the handwheel or pressing the foot pedal- the machine just makes a buzzing sound). I have no idea who's to blame but I was really disappointed and kind of frustrated, because of the anticipation and expectation that I'd get a new machine in working order. I requested a replacement, so fingers crossed I don't get another machine that doesn't work.
