    • Should have more shade
It is a beautiful pergola. The assembly was overall easy but instructions could do a little better at telling you how to assemble the long pieces with the plates. We had to remove reversal plates and flip them because some long pieces have holes for 45degree board connection. However the main reason for lower rating is that the shade is horrible. The top came with only 11 2x1 boards and the spacing was over 9” separation. That is horrible shade. I had to buy another 20 boards at Home Depot to make the separation between boards about 1” or so and now works wonderful. Had I knows the pergola doesn’t really provide any shade I would not have bought it. I think if manufacturer just adds 20 more boards would be wonderful product and a 5 star. Update on 10/13/23 - I just wanted to say that after reading my review, Beneouya customer service team was just outstanding. They refunded my purchase of additional wood I used to increase the shading. I still suggest that Beneouya look into increasing the sade in the package because it is a GORGEOUS pergola and even if the customer buys their own wood, that wood doesn't match in color and it is not cured. Given my experience with customer service I would definitely buy another one. ... show more

4) When placing B1&2 onto A1&2 the instructions don't tell you which way the legs go, beware. 5) Putting the Rafters (I) together the wood splits, needs some kind of brace. 6) Alot of checking and alot of warping in the wood after opening the boxes. Over all good Pergola.
