Description

By 2025 all brake manufacturers in the United States must eliminate copper from their friction formulations in order to meet the California and Washington Proposition 65 regulations. The legislation was enacted in 2010 due to claims by environmental regulators that as brake pads wear down, copper and other materials are deposited on roadways and in parking lots and then washed into streams and rivers. Too much copper in the water may damage marine and freshwater organisms such as fish and mollusks. On the way to the 2025 rule the legislation requires brake manufacturers to switch their formulations to low-copper. By 2021 copper content in friction must not exceed 5%. Many friction manufacturers have been forced to start developing new formulations and test a number of different materials to match the characteristics of copper in order to meet the 2021 and 2025 deadline.

Mazda 2 2012. Perfect fit. Comes with the little slide brackets and a pouch of grease. Don't forget to put a tab of grease where the brakes slide! On the brakes it says made in India. I put these on and new routers and my car brakes work so much better than the dusty old brakes I had on and old rotors. Be gentle on your brakes. Slow down slowly as you come to a stop and they will last a long time. Don't speed up to a stop sign and slam your brakes on unless you like to replace pads a lot. ... show more

Bought these for my 2018 Optima. I was already familiar with the brand because I have some heavy duty Bendix fleet brakes on my F-250. Those have lasted over 50k miles. These were easy to install on the Optima. Fit was snug, but fine. The only improvement Bendix could make is the hardware. Luckily I bought a set of hardware as the Bendix hardware didn't include pad spreaders and the ones on the car were pretty good and rusty. Not something I'd feel comfortable reusing. Absolutely no noise from them when paired with Raybestos rotors. Brake dust has been minimal. They seated themselves fine in the new rotors. No issues there. Have 500 miles on them and they're well broken in. Hope to get 50k like the OEM brakes. Good value for the money overall! I think I'll probably stick with Bendix in the future. ... show more
