The media could not be loaded. This is perfect for table work without any damage to the table! Like most handymen (or women), I have had a few small table vises all my life. When I saw this one I figure it was time for an upgrade. Man! This is it. My first thought upon opening the package of cushions was that they were cheap an not formed quite right. I was wrong. They are very flexible yet strong. The screw cap snaps on to the lower plate while the upper fits all contact surfaces to protect the table. The vice jaw pads fit nice and tight with no movement to hold the work without cutting into the surfaces. If you need to biting grip just pop them off and there ya go. It is just under 3" wide so, a good size to hold small items or up to about 3" wide. (I wish it would open to 3.75" for my 2X4 work pieces but I can work with this). Pros: Nice size for table edge work. Heavy duty screw located through the best part of the body should last forever. Excellent table and project protection. Cons: Anvil located without any support (make a quick sized block if you do need to hammer on it. Clamp handle does not have a pivot so it may end up sticking outward. Update May 20, 2022: I have reviewed several of these table vises over the past few months. This is my go-to for my reviews. It is the sturdiest and easiest to use.     • Jaws have burrs, nasty petroleum smell, otherwise good
If you are looking for a good vise that will need some airing out and its jaws filed/ground to make it usable, then this is your vise! Even though there were these issues, I decided to keep it because it functioned the way I needed it to after my filing and recognizing my use of it would be in a large space so the odor would not be an issue. Now that it is a while since I have had it, the odor has diminished, but is still there slightly - eventually, I expect it to be gone entirely. The clamping is pretty effective, and the swivel works well too - but with a fair bit of force needed to tighten the clamp that stops it from swiveling. One thing that is different about it is that the rear jaw is the one that moves - which may or may not be your best way of clamping for you: If you want to cut something, bringing it over the table may not offer the greatest placement for the material to be cut; or if you want to not bump into the vise while walking by, it may be very advantageous.     • Small but mighty
This is a 3 inch vice that easily clamps to any table without drilling any holes, and there actually isn't a way to mount it other than the built in clamp. It opens up fairly big to work with butcher block sized tops and once it's mounted, it's pretty solid. This little vice is great for smaller workshops when you need to hold wood or plastic pieces and the vice comes with plastic covers to help prevent damage to sensitive materials. The vice swivels around and can lock in place in any position and there's even a mini anvil you can use to hammer small things on it. Another good use for this vice is as a portable unit that you can keep in a tool bag and attach at the worksite if doing trim work or other work with smaller wood pieces.     • Easy to clamp for light duty
This is easy to clamp on and use for light duty with the rubber protector covers. I had to do some heavier duty clamping so I ended up taking some of the covers off to get a more secure clamp. I have a roll around workbench in my shop that I can roll outside and work on. It never fails that I need to hold something while I cut, etc. and have to go back in my shop to a vice that is bolted down. This small vise is great to quickly attach and is plenty strong.
