  • Not a drill press vise
Actually it's a drill press vise mounted on a rotating base. And with the base on, it isn't usable in a drill press. You cannot center the workpiece without unclamping the assembly, and what's the point then? You can take this thing off the base, and use it like a standard one-axis vise, but then why pay for the base? ... show more

  • Fine Bench Vise doesn't operate as a Drill Press Vise for me
I almost feel like when they were writing out the copy for this product they got drill. Press and bench messed up because this doesn't fit on my drill press, nor on either of the two that my uncle has down in his shop but it does work great as a bench vise so that's what I'm using it as. I mean, if you look at all the pictures in the listing they're showing it used just mounted to a "Bench" and never to a press I'd be interesting in knowing which ones they say this will fit, and in that regard, it works really well. I have it mounted right near the edge of my big work table and it is come in handy when I need to saw or drill into some pipe, hold a board, whatever you would do with a bench vise this thing does. And with that in mind for the price, this thing is fine it is held up through a lot of use over the past few months with no loss of functionality but if you came here, explicitly to buy a drill press vise, I hope you have better luck at fitting it to yours then we had with any of ours. ... show more

  • Reasonably solid budget drill press vise
Great budget pick for a drill press vise, as long as you don't expect perfection. You may need to clean up some casting remnants, and might not get high end precision, but this vise will still handle most of what you would use it for. Pros: - Between its ability to swivel 360 degrees, and 4 mounting grooves in the corners, you can set up the vise in various configurations. - Quick clamp and release work very well using the button towards the back. - Jaws grip well and have strong clamping force. - Lead screw moves smoothly. Cons: - Lead screw has some play, but doesn't seem to affect function for my purposes in a home shop/garage. - Jaw that is attached to the lead screw seems to be mounted somewhat loosely for this kind of vise, so it won't sit consistently parallel to the fixed jaw to apply equal pressure across the entire width - Overall quality control isn't great. One of the mounting points had some excess metal pieces from the casting process, which I had to cut off in order for the bolt to fit through. Additionally, the surface that guides the movable jaw doesn't seem to be ground evenly on one side of my vise. ... show more

  • super handy vice
I could not give this 5 stars as this vice takes up space on the bench. Much bigger than the traditional one. Also you cant rotate this too far it only does about 90 degrees which were disappointing. I do like the quick clamp feature so that is very handy.

  • Good workbench addition…
Every workbench needs a vise and this is quite useful. I have a brutal 1940s era vise that crushes larger objects, but isn’t the best at smaller jobs. This modern day vise is pretty good at holding on to smaller daily projects and I love the quick release feature. I still need a big brute vise, but I think this was a great add on for smaller projects. Quite durable and fairly sturdy although the jaws are a bit narrow. Won’t hold a door, but how many doors do you hold in a vise on a daily basis? ... show more

  • It Says Drill Press
It says Drill Press in the product name: Bench Vise, 4-1/4" Drill Press Vise with Forged Steel Design, 4-3/8" Max Jaw Opening, Heavy Duty Vise with Swivel Base and Quick Release for Woodworking Milling Machine Drill Press But it didn't fit my Ryobi 10" drill press. Maybe they meant "drill press with a sliding table" because if I mount this to my drill press and clamp something down, the work piece will not be under the bit. Besides that, the mounting holes don't line up. Guess there is no standard hole placement for drill press mounting holes like the VESA mounting holes on the back of flat panel televisions. And it's a shame you can't adjust the vertical angle. Facilitating drilling at an angle would be huge. In the end, I'll mount this to the workbench and knock off 1-star for the confusing drill press mention. Really needed this for jewelry work to drill holes in precious stones. ... show more

  • Big, heavy duty, versatile vise
I really like this Drill Press vise! It is replacing a similar but smaller vise that didn't have the swivel base, just the top. Even so, I made a lot of drilling operations possible due to its adjustability and the fact that the bolt slots coupled with the slots on the press table enabled me to move it into any position I needed. This one is even better, as the swivel base adds a new dimension of adjustability! I also like the button on top of where the vise screw is attached which allows super-quick tightening and loosening by disengaging the stationary threads so the jaws can be pushed in or out for a rough fit, then the button can be allowed to pop back up to finish the tightening with the screw. That's so much easier than turning the screw about a million times to change the clamping from a smaller item to a much larger item and vice versa. I now have a drill press table accessory, as can be seen in my photos, but I can still adjust the positioning of the vise by sliding it to the required place and holding it down with the clamps and T-tracks. I glued some felt to the bottom of the vise base so that I don't damage the surface of the table. A vise like this isn't limited to a drill press, either, as it can be mounted to a bench top as well. It's a strong, well-made item with an excellent thick paint finish that should keep it in great shape for a very long time. Recommended! ... show more
