  • A Must have for Studio's With Multiple Monitors
Style: Studio Control
I have been looking at purchasing A monitor controller for about a year now. A little info; I am running 3 sets of monitors in my studio from multiple sources. I was almost set to buy the Presonus Controller but held out due to the price. I ran across this Behringer and was immediately drawn in due to the price (less than half the price of the Presonus). I also was sold on this after seeing the many more routing options. I am now using it running to my monitors from my studio mixer but also now have my Guitar amp modeler running into it so I don't have to turn on my entire studio just to play guitar. Since it has so many routing options, I also have a little Tascam 8 track hooked to it so I can even lay down some quick ideas (again, without having to turn on mixers, computers etc...) So this thing really is worth more than it's cost in convenience alone. Without plugging or re -routing I also play my piano to a separate set of monitors. But my favorite feature is the ability to run everything, both independently and collectively to my headphone amp and P.A. speakers with their own volume control and source selector. It is a perfect size for my studio, Built like a tank and has more options than any other I looked at with a price much lower. If this were to stop working tomorrow, I would immediately buy another, so needless to say, I DO highly recommend this. ... show more

  • Works, but a quirk or two
Style: Studio Control
For the price, this is a great unit. It's pretty big, but quite clean and gets the job done. It's been a while since I've been in the studio super critically, but adding this to my signal flow to be able to sum my mixes to mono seems to have made a big improvement on where the final mixes land. You're probably wondering about the quirk: my headphone knobs seem to do this weird thing where when you get to around 7:00-8:00 there is a noticable step of gain switch when it switches to what sounds like a higher amplifier setting or something. When this happens the initial knob location only happens to one side of the headphones, but going a hair past it makes the left show up and then they behave as expected. I generally don't have headphones down that low so I don't think it will bother me. I posted whether it was supposed to do that in the questions and was told it was not, so I initiated a return and got another one to replace it, the replacement does the same thing. This same headphone chain works find out of my scarlet so I know the hardware is good. I am going to try hooking my IEM's in to see if they behave the same, but I'm not super hopefull. With the next closest monitor controller being double the price I'm going to call this an acceptable quirk. ... show more

  • Flexible and pleasant to use
Style: Studio Control
Like other Behringer gear I've bought, it has great features for the price but production quality is a crap shoot. Had to get a replacement because the first one made audible chirps and whistles, second unit is fine. Lots of routing and adjustment flexibility, very useful in a small studio. Knobs and buttons feel solid and smooth. Could be a bit smaller. ... show more

  • Studio Control PLUS Interface = Killer Appliance
Style: Studio Control
I replaced an old, failing Samson C-control. I'd had it for years and took the input from this to out to that plus headphones aspect of it for granted. I tried everything from small mixers I had around to Y cables to old M-Audio USB 1 interfaces... Having once been a Behringer rep I went to their website to see what they had. I read the reviews, read the specs and bought it. I own a Tascam 2020 w a Behringer AD 8 lightpiped to it for getting audio into my computer. But when I don't want to fire all that up to listen to a mix, try a new piece of software the CONTROL2 is there. I can take lines from my live rig to it, from my software, from a guest's pedal board and hear it without making a big deal out of it. Headphones, monitors, DAW or even a stereo pair out to a Zoom portable recorder to catch a jam. This thing is worth the price x3 and the desktop real estate. Balanced inputs, input trim, decent meters, talkback and dual headphones. Quiet, colorless. Just what the Doctor ordered. If you need to control your final ins and outs from sub-mixers, practice rigs or a random analog pair from whatever's in the room, this is the box. The big knob is pretty cool, but I think, between you and me, that all that finite adjustment for a pair of monitors might be a gimmick. Unless you can hear a hundredth of a dB or can't hear clipping ;). This is a great product that does exactly what it says it will do and run stuff around your studio. Plus be a secondary (or primary) USB I/O. For a buck and a half. If you know you need something like this, this is the one. ... show more

  • I expected something WAY lesser than this
Style: Studio Control
Let's be honest, the name Behringer doesn't conjure images of high quality gear. Having a Dangerous Monitor ST in my other room at the studio, the expectations for this Behringer unit were about zero. I just needed something to switch between two sets of speakers. Looking at the cost between this and a Mackie Big Knob (of any of the three flavors) I thought I would take a chance because how bad could it be? I was ready to be underwhelmed. WOW, was I wrong. First of all, this unit is pretty substantial and big. It's actually heavy! Tons of ins and outs and it appears to be built like a tank. My first test for cheap gear is to wiggle the knobs side to side and see how loose they are which is an indicator of board mounted pots and overall cheapness. I have to say, these are pretty solid. Hooked it up using my UA Apollo as Input 1 and running to two sets of powered monitors. Perfectly silent! Does exactly what you would imagine and the price is unbeatable. It looks great as well. My only comment would be the stepped VCA big knob is great, but show the location of the pointer in the sexy lighted ring or at least have a white engraved line so we can see where it is at. Not a deal breaker, though, but more of a lost opportunity to make a great product even better. Listen, for the $149 I bought this for new it's a steal. I have had none of the issues (noise, etc...) that some of the other people mentioned in other reviews. Built like a tank, looks great and does what it should with tons of routing and in/outs. A no-brainer. Just do it! ... show more
