  • An unapologetic Yeti copycat--but an excellent copy and an excellent value at sale price
Let's not dance around it: This is obviously, intentionally, a direct copy of the Blue Yeti classic. The controls are identical and in the same places. The microphone's shape and size are very similar (see photos). It supports the older 16-bit/48Khz rate of the old Yeti. it features three capsules and four patterns--Just like the Yeti. And it boasts 20hz-20khz frequency response--just like the Yeti. Heck, it even uses a mini-USB port, like the Yeti (bummer there). I mean, they even named it Bigfoot, another monster, just like Yeti--in case you weren't already in the joke. They also gave it a list price similar to the Yeti, but it has frequently been on sale for about 1/4 of that. So you know what to expect if the Behringer engineers have done their job. And they have: It also sounds quite similar to the Yeti classic. It's super sensitive--just like the Yeti (if your room is noisy in the background, you may not like it). The clarity is good. For speaking, this is an excellent microphone--you'll be the best-sounding person on your calls if you use it. You could easily use it for podcasts. It picks up the low end fine. The midrange is super flat--not bloated. That's great and will make you sound very clear. I find the top end a wee bit on the goosed side of things. It's not bad, and most casual users wouldn't even notice it. But I'd prefer if it was just slightly tamer. That said, if you're a pro, you can easily dial that down with an eq setting. I recorded myself with acoustic guitar and singing using this microphone, and it sounded good, full, and articulate. Truly, in A/B testing, I couldn't really reliably tell the difference between the Bigfoot and the Yeti. At the price, that's a big win for the Bigfoot. Also worth noting: If you were considering the Blue Snowball, this is a FAR better microphone at a lower price. That's not the Blue microphone they're aiming at, but there's no reason to buy the Snowball if you can get the Yeti for a bargain sale price. Pros: ** Solid, heavy construction ** Good sound quality--pretty much a push with the Blue Yeti ** On sale less than 1/3 the price of the Blue Yeti Cons ** Copied some of the out-of-date features of the Yeti classic: mini-USB and 16 bit/48Khz ... show more

  • Great beginner mic for streamers and podcasters.
Behringer's answer to Blue Microphones is the Bigfoot, a fitting name for this behemoth of a microphone. It's big, it's solid, and it punches above its literal and metaphorical weight. The Bigfoot is a great beginner mic for streamers, gamers, and podcasters. It's ready to go out of the box, but also has enough features on board that it can grow with you. The mic has a good range of sound and is crisp and clear. It has multiple settings for uni or omni-directional sound, which is good for solo or group recordings. The on-body mute toggle is great for gaming and live broadcasts, and on-body gain knob allows for on-the-fly adjustments. I love that it allows for lots of tweaking on the physical microphone without having to tab over to your recording software to adjust settings. It's super versatile and overall sounds GREAT, a good one to pick up if you're starting a new chapter. ... show more

  • Missed opportunity
Behringer is a brand I trust, and I used their recording equipment in the past. So seeing this mic as an option to improve my video calls, I wanted to give it a try. The audio was excellent, the overall product, however required much improvement. First of all, the sound quality is as expected from Behringer brand really good. The mic also has a built-in switch to change "width" pattern, allowing a choice between different configurations (one, or two speakers, wider room, etc). The build quality itself is great, it stand is solid, and it also has a mic thread, if you want to go with a more traditional microphone setup. There is also a built in hardware mute, which is helpful. However that does not seem to synchronize with Windows, in other words your video conference software will not know when the mic is muted. There is a volume button, and that was one of the first mysteries. Turns out, the mic can also act as a sound card, and can be used a a "monitor" with a headphone connected to the port behind. This allows hearing your voice thru the mic, and whatever the sound the computer is doing. However for this purpose, I found too much noise in the sound output, which defeats the purpose. I would use the internal headphone jack, and the OS builtin software mixer to listen to my own mic. And the second issue is, there is only a single "old style" USB (type-mini-B) connection. This is a missed opportunity if you already have an existing audio setup. For example, if you want to use the excellent Behringer U-PHORIA interface, you would be out of luck. So, if you are stating out, building a podcast, and have not already invested in audio equipment, this would be a good starting point. If you already have an audio interface, I would recommend going with an XLR or hybrid alternative. ... show more

  • Proper solid choice at this price point with only minor issues.
I needed to pick up a mic for doing interview recordings with my Uncle for the wood mill videos he had taken to shoot for fun. I'm going to support anything hobby wise a man in his 70's wants to do for sure. He has been shooting his videos on GoPro cameras and then I'm doing the editing on MacBook Pro 2021. This gives me a better recording quality then the base mic built into the cameras or my laptop. The only issue I have is a slight one and that they are still using a USB-A connection for this - at this point C seems a better choice. But a simple adapter and it works just fine. Pros: Good solid build and weight Good sound quality High sensitivity Good build quality (nearly Mute button is a little soft) Gain control on it Cons: USB-A, USB-C would be really more current Low noise, always present but you can easily filter it out. Overall not a bad option at the price for sure. There are better but this is a solid choice if you're not wanting to invest for higher end that I think you'll be happy with to easily get your investment worth out of it. ... show more
