This is a cute little PC in an even cuter little package. (Basically it's a laptop PC with the keyboard, display and the battery.) It's not the best performing PC that you can get these days but then, unless you are a hardcore gamer, doing high definition graphics processing etc., most PCs you can get these days is overkill and this little guy will be fine. If you need a small PC for a single task application (presentations, e-mail, browsing, kiosks and bill boards, this PC would be an excellent choice. My particular purpose was a simple PC that I could use to stream internet content (YouTube, Peacock, Paramount+, etc.) to my television display monitor. It works great for this purpose and I am very happy with it now that I have it set up. Also it is extremely quiet! No fans to interfere with my hearing while viewing. The setup would be the thing that caused me the biggest problem -- and frankly, at first, had me wondering if I had made a mistake by ordering it. The first problem with setup was just a temporary annoyance. It takes a very long time to set this computer up. Part of this is the fault of Microsoft for demanding that setup go through this torturous path to get you sold on every other Microsoft product. I'd love it if there was a setup path for people who just want a basic single user computer with no cloud storage or Microsoft accounts. It would have been nice if it came without all of the baggage of Win11 (that is to say, I wish it came with Win10, but now that Win10 is out of support, there would be no hope of that. The other setup problem that I faced is that, initially, I could not get my wireless keyboard and mouse to work reliably. (Since I use it for streaming, the PC is by the television, but I want to control it from my chair across the room.) Had I not found the solution for this problem, this would have made this PC a nonstarter, but happily, I was able to resolve this problem by disabling power saving for the driver. (Why power saving was turned on for this as a default makes no sense to me given that this is not a battery powered computer, but it is an available design choice.) To sum up, once the set up issues were addressed, this little PC has been working great for me. One other thing that you might possibly want to know about is that the USB ports are on this PC are upside down. Now, for the vast majority of users, this little detail is completely irrelevant. Electrically, it doesn't matter what orientation (right side up, upside down, sideways, etc.) is used. The only problem is if the device that you are plugging into the USB port is physically designed with the assumption that there is clear space above the USB port. If you plug such a device into an upside-down port, you may find that the PC will no longer sit on its feet because the USB device sticks downward too far. Fortunately, there is an easy solution to this -- get a short USB A extension cable. ... show more

We bought a Beelink SER5 during Amazon's Prime days that we have been very happy with, so when this came up for review, we jumped at the chance. The thing is, this is a very basic economy model intended for very basic tasks. You can even read "basic" as "minimal" if you prefer. That doesn't mean it can't be a good working computer for some people, it just is not a workhorse. The processor was released in 2019, making this good for general computing utilizing primarily text-surfing, email, news readers and the like. You can certainly download photos from your phone/point-and-shoot, process, save and send, but anything video processing related will be slow at best. VLC and YouTube work as they should, but at 4k, no background processes should be running. This is to say, you'll need to be mindful of managing your PC which is not really necessary with more powerful computers, such as the SER5.The difference between these two computers (at this writing) is $130, and the user experience will, for most, be night and day. As a general statement though, these Beelink computers are upgradeable, have Win 11 PRO out of the box, and run amazingly cool. If you tailor your needs to the correct model, you should be pleased with any Beelink purchase. The above constitutes my review. Below is my set up experience, most of which is more dependent on Microsoft than Beelink: The product description recommends not connecting to the internet during first startup. I'm not sure why, or if this is what they had in mind, but I waited for the "internet required for setup" screen to appear, and only then plugged in my LAN cable. My WIFI was also recognized and listed, by I always opt for a wired connection when I can. That actual internet "requirement" by Microsoft can be bypassed (search Google) but since that is not what most people would do, I did not go that route. Shortly after plugging in the cable, my network automatically appeared and indicated it was "connected". I then entered around 10 minutes of "getting things ready for you…thanks for your patience", after which I had to "name" my computer, followed by another waiting period of "Just a moment", that was far longer than a "moment". One needs to just wait this all out. Perhaps that is why there is the "no internet" recommendation as people lose patience and start pressing buttons prematurely, or worse yet, stop and attempt to restart the process. You'll just have to start all over if you do that. You just have to let MS do its thing. Getting the PRO version of Windows is part of why one would buy this machine after all. I left the computer for a bit, and when I returned, it appeared to be off. I assumed it was re-booting, so I left again, and when I came back, the monitors were still off, so I moved the mouse (didn't click) and the "Just a moment" returned. Apparently the computer had entered the monitor off power saving mode. I have very fast fiber optic internet, but never-the-less, the behind the scenes loading/updating took over 30 minutes, at which point I went to dinner. When I came back, I had the set up for personal or school choice, then it said "checking for updates". Wow, more waiting (it said there were 3). Then on to the MS sign in (I used the authenticator app), set my pin, set privacy options (I use location only, turning all the others off), chose to sync with a backup from one of my other computers, waited again, "skipped" a bunch of invasive Microsoft stuff, and finally (2 hours??) got to my desktop where I could actually begin to use (after customizing) my new computer. ... show more

    • Temper Your Expectations, But Great for Specific Uses

The Beelink SER3 works as intended, but you definitely need to temper your expectations regarding its performance. Out of the box, the initial setup felt noticeably sluggish. Running Windows 11 Pro on a 2-core/4-thread processor (Ryzen 3 3200U) isn't the best combination--the OS simply eats up too many system resources for it to feel snappy or smooth during daily desktop use. Once I flashed Linux Mint onto it, the machine completely transformed. The lightweight OS gives the hardware room to breathe, making the whole experience feel much more responsive. One quirk to note during setup and heavier tasks is the cooling fan. It is quick to ramp up and vary its speed whenever the CPU gets hit with a load, though it calms down once things settle. Currently, I'm using this as a headless home server running Jellyfin, and for that specific lightweight server role, it's absolute perfection. If you buy this expecting a blazing-fast Windows 11 daily driver, you'll likely be disappointed. But if you're willing to run a lightweight Linux distro or use it as a low-power home server/media node, it easily earns four stars. ... show more

I just got the Beelink GTR9 Pro 395 Mini PC, Ryzen AI Max+ 395(126TOPS,16C/32T,5.1GHz) from them, and have been trying for the last half hour to get video out of their machine. Between holding down the CMOS and waiting for the power to drain, nothing's been working. This is awful

I’ve been really impressed with this little Beelink SER3. For something this compact, it’s surprisingly capable and has been perfect for the exact setup I wanted it for. I’m using it as the dedicated PC in my garage workstation/DJ setup, connected to a full-size LG monitor along with my keyboard, mouse, audio gear, and DJ equipment. Setup was straightforward and Windows was up and running without any problems. For normal everyday use like web browsing, YouTube, music playback, file management, and general desktop work, it feels responsive and gets the job done without taking up basically any space. What surprised me most is that I was even able to install and run Serato DJ Pro on it. Obviously, I wouldn’t compare a Ryzen 3 3200U with 8GB of RAM to a modern high-end desktop, but for a secondary dedicated machine it has handled my garage setup better than I expected. I really like having an actual Windows PC permanently available out there instead of constantly bringing a laptop back and forth. The size is probably one of my favorite things about it. It sits off to the side of my monitor and almost disappears into the setup, while still giving me plenty of USB connectivity, Ethernet, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, and display options. It also looks and feels much nicer in person than I expected from a mini PC. For my use case, this thing is damn near perfect. It's not supposed to replace a high-end gaming or production PC, but as a compact workstation, media PC, DJ utility computer, or secondary desktop, it's extremely useful. This is a cute little computer that performs basic small-scale tasks. I am using it for college papers, and it is handles that well. At first, I thought I could use it for my Sims 4 game, but that's too much for it. Therefore, it's just going to be used for my light school work. It's better than my small college laptop as far as space and memory is concerned, but it's not particularly faster. I don't hear it when it's on so it's quiet in my opinion. I like that it was packaged very securely. My small laptop has Windows 10 which I prefer over Windows 11, but I'm trying to get used to it. Setting the computer up was like most computers I've had. It takes a while, but it gets there eventually. I just let it get to work, and I got on social media and wiggled the mouse whenever the screen went dark. I really like this cute little thing. This mini computer is made to be an office computer and it is perfect for that. It's a little square that doesn't take up hardly any room. It runs quiet and fast enough for doing business tasks (running office programs). It can surf the web just fine and watch YouTube or Tic Toc just fine. If you don't need heavy processing power for editing videos or making/playing major video games, then this is the perfect computer for you at a good price. Now, setup was a little annoying. It kept saying to please wait while we set things up for a very long time, and then, when it seemed it was done, Windows went into setup and again took an extremely long time, and then it went into updates for another long time; I think it took me about an hour to get through all the setup. Time aside, setup was easy and simple. This performs well enough to be my business computer; I have a more powerful computer of the same brand for producing videos and animations. ... show more
