I purchased this unit because I have another Belink unit with a celeron processor that is used in a limited fashion, but has been a good experience. I have had that unit for over six months. I bought the Windows version of the SER 4800U because it was on sale, although I did not want Windows and planned to replace Windows with Linux Mint 21 Cinnamon. Boot Menu: Because I desired to replace Windows with Linux Mint 21, I had to get into the boot menu by pressing F7 upon boot up. I tried two different keyboards. A hardwired USB and a wireless USB. It would recognize neither at first, but after several tries it recognized the wireless USB keyboard and I was able to get into the boot menu. The machine now runs Linux Mint 21. Fan Noise: I am no gamer, that being said, on initial boot it runs the fan at full for about 5 – 10 seconds. That initial fan noise is not much more than a whisper. After initial boot up, the fan never comes on again. I did a 30g file transfer from a jump drive and the fan stayed silent. Maybe it is a different story for a gamer, but if you are not one, do not be concerned about the fan noise. It is pretty nonexistent. USB 3.x ports: I have a brand name USB 3.0 flash drive which claims to support a transfer rate of over 300mbs. During my file transfer it ran between 3 and 10 mbs. Since I wasn’t in a hurry, I did not troubleshoot this. That transfer took a good while. Not sure if it is that drive, this SER 4800U or a setting in Linux Mint. Since I did not troubleshoot it, I can not provide an answer. If I get in the mood to figure out the USB transfer rate and come up with an answer, I will update this review. Should there be any change in status, I will update this review, but as of this time I considered this positive experience. BTW – running Linux Mint this thing is quite speedy.

Never been a fan of laptops and desktops have become way more than needed. Use a computer to primarily e-mail, shop, web surfing, and pay bills. I was impressed after setting up this little thing. It is so quick and snappy. After the initial CPU spike at startup it quickly settles in at 3 to 7% usage and rarely spikes above 30% with applications running. It has more than enough memory, ports, and ram for my use. Currently have it connected to small TV in bedroom and wireless keyboard and mouse. Not sure if the lifespan will be close to what I was seeing with desktops (10 to 15 years) but at a fraction of the price if it gets half that I will be happy. Would definitely purchase again.

lets get the cons out of the way - It could be cheaper (even lower than $320 that I got it for), given the kid of deals you get on laptops during black friday etc. - long term durability and product support is still up in the air... only time will tell - bios is locked. not ideal for me, but I can live with it that said - amazing performance - extremely small and hangs on my monitor with vesa drive - super quiet... definitely quieter than a coofun / minisforum i had to return - flawless so far

I love this little PC, it was great right out of the box, I installed Kubuntu 22.04 LTS, all was fine. Then the system updated, and I lost audio, bluetooth, and WiFi. No one can fix it and it seems to be a driver problem -- it just acts like there's no device installed. I write, that's what the unit is for. I just want Internet and audio to play a little music and do research without having another computer going. To make matters worse, it was bought as a christmas present, so I didn't get to start playing with it until we were back from visiting the inlaws, that is to say, bought at Halloween, not tried until January. So now it's unreturnable. Now I've done research and all those black friday sale minis, especially the SER5, were panned widely as unreliable, people having wifi and other problems. I'm plugged into a router with a copper line, would rather put the computer where I please. I have already spent more hours trying to fix it, even blew money on a consultant who was useless -- now I'm determined to fix the thing, but it pisses me off each day. Don't get one of these -- I can't speak to the whole company, but their tech site is useless, and no response because I'm past warrrantee and support on the thing. So it sucks.

This is perfect to run my desktop and my Jellyfin media server. The box sits on the back of the monitor, out of the way. It is very fast and quiet. It is much much much quieter than my Raspberry Pi4s, because of the necessary fan noise. (They run hot without fans.) I did not suffer through the opening of the preinstalled Windows OS and loaded Linux Ubuntu immediately. The bios worked fine and loaded Linux easily. It was also easy to install a SSD for data. (All computers should come with a Linux version preinstalled. Windows is at best passé. It is simply an overpriced resource glutton.)
