We've been beekeepers for about eight years. Until now, we've kept records of inspections, swarms, activities, and such in a plain notebook. I would either rely on memory and write notes after inspections Too hard to write effective notes while gowned up), or use a voice recorder and then have to go back and transcribe while listening to a long voice trail. This logbook system is invaluable because most of the upfront notes are templated for you and you just have to enter numbers or checkmarks. That way you can take real-time marks as you inspect without much effort. It's super intuitive and has everything I usually record plus much more. I particularly like the second page with the visual representation of the hive boxes and frames - you can mark x's on the frames to indicate where a queen cell is, or brood patterns, and son on. There's enough room to even indicate which side of the frame an item of interest is. The fact that the paper is waterproof is a huge bonus. This will make our beekeeping much easier and more efficient!

The BeeCastle hive log pads are great. The material is water resistant, the size is perfect for field notes. Each page can hold a lot of information for a hive inspection: Amount of brood, eggs, capped cells, honey, pollen etc. Here you can make notes of treatments and track progress. The back side of the page has a diagram over the hive with frames, where the beekeeper can make notes for each frame. I recommend these for any beekeeper, especially beginners.

Sure, you could keep these logs on regular paper. However, these save the work of trying to remember what data points you need to collect. Plus, it's weather resistant in case you're outside in the elements while taking notes. They're also a good size. Not too big and not too small.
