  • runs smooth, easy to assemble, poorly packaged
overall I am thrilled with this machine, it was not packaged well at all. thin cardboard box and very little light Styrofoam packing that was broken and crushed, so it did not really do any good. the lid was cracked in shipping and they are already sent a replacement, so customer service is on point. also and this to me was even bigger then the broken lid, there is a ball bearing that sits in the the bottom of the spinner and I just happened to find it caught up in the plastic sheeting that some other parts were wrapped in, just honestly dumb luck that I heard it bump into the drum as I was pulling it out, really needs to be in a better safer location. but this thing slings out honey and does it smoothly with no noise and no vibration . I would highly recomend this to any bee keeper. ... show more

  • Almost 5 star, so nice overall
I do love this machine, so I feel docking it a star may be a bit harsh. My sole gripe is that last gallon of honey must be scraped out rather than drained. And we all know that's messy no matter how meticulous you try to be. There just has to be a better design for the draining. Nevertheless, it is really nicely built overall and does the job. Beautiful, really. It's more quiet and stable than I expected provided you keep the balance in mind when loading your frames. I was able to run 2 frames as well as 4. I never tried 8 at once, so perhaps there would be a different experience? I didn't use the legs, just set it on a sturdy table with a grippy pad beneath. It seems fairly priced for what seems to be good quality. Surpasses 4 stars, just not quite a full 5 ... show more

  • Works great - poor shipping quality
The top to the extractor was cracked when it arrived and the box was trashed, ripped in several places with a huge hole in it. I expected the extractor to be trashed, but it wasn't. Used it to extract 200 lbs of honey this season and it performed well. Would definitely recommend.

  • Damaged Goods
Many disappointments. Package delivered upside down despite arrows clearing indicating which end is up. Why? The delivery label was put on the wrong end! Unpacked and set up and noticed the one of the plastic covers was not cut correctly. Turns out it wasn't the piece of plastic, the entire drum was warped! It also affected the extraction process. Sometimes the basket hit the side wall! The motor also had to strain. Finally nail in the coffin: it doesn't spin very fast, even on top speed. Even after 20 minutes, honey still in the cells and I had to resort to my manual extractor to get the remaining honey out of the cells. Disappointing product for $350. Returned and will look for something better. ... show more

  • Looks sturdy but arrived with broken lid.
I just received and opened this. Looks sturdy and like it will wok well. But one of the plexiglass lids was broken. Messaged the seller through Amazon and awaiting a response. Hopefully they send a replacement.

  • Affordable and easy to use
Bought this to replace the old manual extractor. It was very affordable and easy to use. Really cut down on the amount of time it took to process the hives this year. Money well spent.

  • Extracted honey surprisingly well, Very Happy with my purchase
The media could not be loaded. I pulled 8 deep frames of honey from several of my beehives to test the extractor. The supplied honey filter bag performed well to filter out capings, debris and wax from the honey. See picture of the filter bag setup. I draped the filter bag over a 5 gallon bucket. A nut was missing preventing the honey gate on the extractor from working properly. The missing nut was allowing the gate to fall off and preventing it from holding back any honey. So a repair had to be made for the gate to work as it was intended. The extractor held 4 deep frames and the motor made a rubbing noise upon first operation. I removed the fan housing and hammered a dent out and it seemed to have fixed that issue. Other than that the motor is plenty strong enough for its intended purpose and at no time did I feel like it lacked power. The speed control did not seem to operate or start the motor on the lowest settings but did work very well for most of the dial. It was adequate for my needs and spun the honey frames fast enough to remove the honey. Also, I did not use it at its fastest setting because at 3/4 full speed it seemed to perform very well. Dents in the side of the tub were not deep enough to matter and did not interfere with the spinning cage. Also half of the top was not attached because the hinges had fallen off and the hardware was missing. But that did not impede the machine from doing its intended job as it was not connected to the safety switch. So the broken top could not stop the motor from operating nor the cage from spinning the honey out. Which made me happy because the machine could still perform its job and do it very well. The second supplied honey gate is a great plus as I used it on a 5 gallon bucket and I had no issues out of it. I was actually quit pleased with the size of the extractor as I can lift it and move it without too much strain. It was also light enough to be set on a table and held over a bucket to drain out every last drop of honey from the bottom of the extractor. I used a silicone spatula to scrap all of the remaining honey from the bottom and into the bucket. I was initially concerned about my purchase but I am pleasantly surprised at how well it has performed. I would caution any future buyers that although it works well you may need to do some initial minor repairs to get it going. It goes without saying but before use the machine, cage, and honey gate should be disassembled, cleaned, wiped down and sterilized. ... show more

  • Worked great for honey extraction.
This extractor worked great for my honey extraction needs this year! I extracted 125 lbs of honey without any issues. One half of the acrylic cover of the extractor was broken in shipment. The company Bee Castle was very helpful and quickly shipped me a new one that was easy to install. I highly recommend this extractor for backyard beekeepers! ... show more
