I've had some issues with the mounting. The manual has some errors in the details, which made it a bit confusing (on the mounting of the sliders on the drawers). Also, this bed doesn't need 1 bed of space to be mounted. It needs 3x that amount of space. You need 2x the space for the bottom bed to fit under the top one, and an additional 1x the space for the parts. So if you plan on mounting this bed, inside a room that's barely any larger than the bed itself, you'll not have a very easy time! Also, the mounting procedures in my opinion, is wrong. They should have started in the manual mounting the drawers, and bottom bed, as the top bed can be easily put over the bottom bed. To slide the bottom bed under the top bed, in a limited space environment, is hard (or impossible without lifting the top bed). For that reason, I'd recommend anyone to start halfway down the manual, with the drawers and bottom bed first. Then move over to the top bed. That way you can make the bed in 2x the surface space of the bed. The wooden design has many finishing flaws. Like wood eyes or glued together pieces, on places where screws go. I thought it was an issue,but was able to mount the bed anyway, without splitting any planks. I would recommend to use an electric screwdriver, with a torque setting, and set it to the lowest setting for the smallest screws, medium setting for the mid long screws, and a 1500W drill with drill bit can be set to max, for the largest screws (the ones mounting on the headboards). There's absolutely no way I would mount this bed with a (manual) screwdriver and the tool provided! Get an electric drill and appropriate Philips head, and hexagonal drill bit. For a first timer, and electric screw driver, measuring and planning out, it took me a good 3 to 4 hours. I bet for a second time, I can half that time to 1,5-2hours. The bed isn't very strong. The mattress planks certainly aren't made for an adult! In fact, I had to use other planks to distribute my weight over several, to prevent the mattress planks from bending too far, and breaking under my upper body. I also put a tarp under the mattress, because our little one would jump the mattress the first moment she saw the bed! The tarp helps distribute the weight, and doesn't allow any liquids to pass through (so the bottom mattress doesn't get wet, when the upper bed is peed on). Quality wise, I'd give it a 3 out of 5 stars. It is functional, but still a bit wobbly. Even after hand tightening the frame screws. The bottom bed, doesn't have a lot of support on the back (just 4 screws holding it in place in the back). The drawers are basic, but decent size! I was very impressed with the quality of this bed. Directions are easy to follow. It took my husband and daughter about 2.5 hours to assemble. Final assembly and finished product was amazing. The bed is built well and very sturdy. I would purchase again without a doubt!

This is the best of these types of beds available on Amazon under 400. All solid wood, pieces were marked per the instructions and in excellent condition. No mdf except the drawer bottoms. The trundle accepts a regular sized twin mattress unlike the majority of others that require a smaller/thinner sofa bed mattress. Assembly does take some time as expected when assembling a large piece of furniture. The instructions were no problem to follow with common sense. The pieces come mixed in two cartons for ease of shipment, not ease of assembly. Time and frustration can be reduced by grouping them by their order of assembly before starting construction. It is more solid and sturdy than I expected it would be. Time will tell but, it seems like it will outlast the vast majority of comperable beds made with mdf. Could it be better?? Yes, it could be made of oak, have more bracing, better handles for the drawers and a book shelf in the headboard but good luck finding or even building one like that from scratch for under 400. Overall we are very pleased with this purchase and our 10y/o daughter loves her new bed. I don't give 5 stars unless something really far exceeds expectations. I will not EVER stop raving about this bed. The pictures or description from the listing do not do it any justice. It is absolutely exquisite. The bed comes in two boxes. It is made of real wood, not particle board like I was highly expecting. The pictures made it look like a flat board type wood with a painted type of weathered/distressed look but it is NOT that!!! The finish is absolutely killer!!! It has SO much texture and really gives it a beautiful look that you can't see I'm the listing. I was SOOO surprised by how beautiful each piece was when I was unboxing it. Each piece was flawless. It is very sturdy. Each piece was clearly labeled. Easy assembly. My friend and I went at assembling it, and it only took a couple of hours. It is cheaper than a single twin bed I was looking to buy at Ashley furniture, but the quality of this bed is twice as good, hands down. I loved that the trundle was not on a track, and also featured three nice and spacious drawers. There is enough room between each bed to leave the bed underneath made up without having to strip it of it's comforter and pillow when rolling it back underneath. The media could not be loaded. All in all the quality of the bed is very sturdy and very heavy duty. The coloring is nice and I love the texture, The only thing is that the front board of the trundle arrived cracked so during assembly we realized this but the bed was already half way put together, mind you their are over 100 screws&pegs so me being the fixer I am, I opted to go get brackets from my local Lowes instead of having to de-assemble the bed and figure out how to pack it back in the 2 boxes and send it back all for 1 board. I'm not sure if the cracked board was due to manufacturer mishandling or delivery driver mishandling. But so far the brackets are doing fine regardless. For the price I paid I would have hoped they would of been a bit more careful. Other than that this is a Beautiful Bed. My son's love it. ... show more
