The bed was delivered in two separate boxes. We need to open both of them to assemble the bed. Some of the instructions are lacking but we figured it out. It’s very solid and sturdy. Only things I would change would be to add two more slats to the top and the bottom so you aren’t constantly losing stuffed animals or small things down the corners. Some finishing issues: inward and outward directions were not noted for the headboard and footboard pieces and there were some very rough sanded finishes that would snag blankets on the side rails and headboard and footboard. I could have faced them in words have they been marked top bottom left or right. the middle drawer is a little sticky and we tried troubleshooting it but it’s not a dealbreaker. You can comfortably sleep two adults in it without it making horrible, creaking noises like it’s going to fall apart. My kid loves it. ... show more

I needed a bed that two kids could share in a small bedroom space and not take up a bunch of room. After looking for several days I decided this was the bed I wanted to purchase. I read a bunch of reviews on this bed before deciding to go ahead and order it. There were a few bad reviews but overall the reviews were really good so I decided to go for it. I should have listened to the negative reviews. It came in two very heavy boxes, no problem. As I started unboxing the pieces everything seemed fine until I got to the very bottom. Two of the main piece of the bed were split to the point you can’t assemble the bed. I contacted the seller/amazon and the suggestion was “send the bed back”. It wouldn’t be a problem sending the bed back except for the fact that the pieces are very heavy, it came in several boxes and someone had to make a box out of a box just to ship it. Also I’m 8 1/2 months pregnant so it’s not simple to load up a heavy bed and all the pieces to drop off at a UPS store. Once I finally found the directions those were so complicated that I finally sat them down and had to walk away from the whole project. Just as pictured . Solid, sturdy, no mdf, easy to assemble!! Perfect for empty room, now guest room for two adults, grandchildren… Framed by bookcases and curtained off, this makes a lovely nook! So hard to find non-mdf! So this can be easily painted in the future too. Highly recommended though I’m either paining or switching out the drawer pulls - look very cheap. PS bought two 8” mattresses; I recommend a 10” or deeper for the top. The wood side rises up quite a bit, making sitting on the edge uncomfortable with the 8” mattress. ... show more

I've had some issues with the mounting. The manual has some errors in the details, which made it a bit confusing (on the mounting of the sliders on the drawers). Also, this bed doesn't need 1 bed of space to be mounted. It needs 3x that amount of space. You need 2x the space for the bottom bed to fit under the top one, and an additional 1x the space for the parts. So if you plan on mounting this bed, inside a room that's barely any larger than the bed itself, you'll not have a very easy time! Also, the mounting procedures in my opinion, is wrong. They should have started in the manual mounting the drawers, and bottom bed, as the top bed can be easily put over the bottom bed. To slide the bottom bed under the top bed, in a limited space environment, is hard (or impossible without lifting the top bed). For that reason, I'd recommend anyone to start halfway down the manual, with the drawers and bottom bed first. Then move over to the top bed. That way you can make the bed in 2x the surface space of the bed. The wooden design has many finishing flaws. Like wood eyes or glued together pieces, on places where screws go. I thought it was an issue,but was able to mount the bed anyway, without splitting any planks. I would recommend to use an electric screwdriver, with a torque setting, and set it to the lowest setting for the smallest screws, medium setting for the mid long screws, and a 1500W drill with drill bit can be set to max, for the largest screws (the ones mounting on the headboards). There's absolutely no way I would mount this bed with a (manual) screwdriver and the tool provided! Get an electric drill and appropriate Philips head, and hexagonal drill bit. For a first timer, and electric screw driver, measuring and planning out, it took me a good 3 to 4 hours. I bet for a second time, I can half that time to 1,5-2hours. The bed isn't very strong. The mattress planks certainly aren't made for an adult! In fact, I had to use other planks to distribute my weight over several, to prevent the mattress planks from bending too far, and breaking under my upper body. I also put a tarp under the mattress, because our little one would jump the mattress the first moment she saw the bed! The tarp helps distribute the weight, and doesn't allow any liquids to pass through (so the bottom mattress doesn't get wet, when the upper bed is peed on). Quality wise, I'd give it a 3 out of 5 stars. It is functional, but still a bit wobbly. Even after hand tightening the frame screws. The bottom bed, doesn't have a lot of support on the back (just 4 screws holding it in place in the back). The drawers are basic, but decent size!
