What you need to understand first is that this mattress was replacing a circa 1988 Sealy Posturpedic mattress bought before you could purchase mattresses in a box. For its time, it was a decent mattress - but I was young and poor, in my twenties and just starting out. Except for a short period of time (translation - between boyfriends) this mattress was always relegated to the guest bedroom. Over time, I added a featherbed to it because the original mattress was only about 8" deep. Then I added ANOTHER feather bed to the previous bed - mostly because I loved the floof effect. Problem was that once floofed, nobody was allowed to sit on it, sleep on it, breathe on it...it had to sit there in all its glory and floofiness. If you've ever had to fluff a feather bed...you know why. I finally got tired of all the work and wanted to find a suitable replacement. Somehow the mattress world had moved on without me...and after a lot of thought - too much thought...I picked this mattress for it's reviews and thickness. It did not disappoint although I must admit, my husband and I did have to work out the logistics of releasing the kraken from its wrappings and dodging it as it sprung to life. It's very comfortable, the firmness is perfect...not too soft, not too hard...Goldilocks would approve. The cost was reasonable, delivery was quick and I splurged for the extra pick up of the antique mattress. I'm very happy with this purchase and would recommend it.

I honestly can't believe how nice this mattress is for the price. Every night when I crawl into bed it feels amazing on my toes and all over my body. The support is amazing. I 100% recommend this firm mattress. I've had softer mattress and they make my body ache so bad due to lack of support. If its too firm for your liking you can always add a memory foam bed topper to get that cloud feeling, and still have the support your body needs from the firm mattress. The reason I say its better to get this and add a memory topper is bc the mattress will hold up your support and the topper will give you the soft feeling of being surrounded by a cloud. BOTH are important for a great night's sleep. This was a great buy!

It was not quite as firm as hoped for from an "14 inch extra firm" mattress. It smelled a little like gasoline and dirt and took about 2 weeks to deodorize it. Overall, I am satisfied with the mattress quality. I got a 2nd ''Bedstory" mattress at the same time from Amazon and it was perfect.
