I like how this works well when I come home in the dark. Reliable and the batteries have lasted over two years. The light given is okay. I have one in my garage and it is not too effective, but the one at my door to my house is plenty bright enough to help using my key to unlock my door. For those of us that get up several times each night to visit the bathroom, this little inexpensive light works great. I just sit it on the window sill and the motion detector activates the yellow light as soon as I enter the room. The yellow colored light seems to work as described too. No more leaving a night light on all the time, having to turn on annoying bright ceiling lights or fumbling with a flashlight. The batteries last a couple of months. Users will soon figure out that it is getting close to the time to change the batteries when the range of the motion detector begins to decrease by a step. It’s as easy as that. I like these lights a lot. They are not very portable, need to stick them to the wall or something, but could be moved I supposed. These lights are yellow, it is much better than the white lights for your eyes at night, and they are not quite as bright and annoying. As I also use one on the bottom of my bedframe so it illuminates part of the room when the cat walks by. But because the bed frame overhangs it is not quite as bright for we humans. Motion detection works well, a little too well for humans actually, more than 2-3 meters away they will activate. A bit too much for my liking, but that is ok. My cat needs to get closer to them, much closer, like within 50-100cm I think. I would recommend them even though I am not 100% in love with them as a lot of the alternatives are not very good. This brand seems more humanized. Even though I am using them for my cat. Recommended. I would buy again for sure if I needed more. I currently use four of these in my house, two white and two yellow, I have two remaining. Battery life, I cannot comment on much yet, I have used them for about two months now, and I walk a lot after I turn off my lights, so I guess they are activated at least 5-20 times a day/night, including in the day time hours. So I guess the batteries will at least go for another 1-2 months. I feel they are starting to dim just a bit. I use rechargeable eneloop batteries also, the black ones, they have more power so they will last a bit longer. I bought some velcro stickers to attach to the wall and the back of the units. You need to cut them out right to avoid tapping over the battery compartment sides, otherwise it will be a waste. I used two, one on the top and one on the bottom of the unit as they are a bit heavy and I don't want them to fall on my cat. I placed most of them about 10cm off the floor, 10cm bottom of light to floor that is. So that when my cat walks buy they will activate. Any higher and for some reason they don't activate very well, and 10cm is enough to brighten a small area. I would buy again for sure if I needed more. ... show more

I was happy to have found this Mr. Beams brand battery powered night light because I enjoyed the previous model I purchased a few years back. The only modification I needed to make, on the previous model, was covering the bright white LED with red spotlight gel. The only quirk the older model had was the light stayed on when the batteries got low. That will be your queue to change the batteries. Alright, time for science class. We all realize certain wavelengths of light effect our circadian clock (internal sleep/wake cycle), and of course, our night vision. As I understand it, any colors you can see in a nighttime bonfire are acceptable. Aircraft pilots use a red lamp for reading charts and maps. Although the Mr. Beams model MB720A is in the amber spectrum, akin to a yellow bug light bulb, I find it much too bright. Even sitting on the floor, this unit will light up a room brighter than you might expect. This new model has a couple of challenges that need overcoming. First off, the unit is not sensitive enough to know when the lights are on, under certain conditions. For instance, it will come on just by casting a shadow while walking in front of a window on a sunny day. You’ll go though lots of AA batteries if you don’t correct this. The previous model had the photoresistor that detects light levels mounted on top, with a prismatic diffuser covering it. It was very sensitive, detected ambient light flawlessly. The MB720A now comes with the photoresistor soldered on the printed circuit board, in the shadow of the PIR (passive infrared sensor), and does not perform well in this location. I like this product well enough to drill a hole for the photoresistor on top of the unit, remove it from the circuit board, extend the leads and glue it in place, like the previous model. The second challenge is the brightness and I have fallen back to my, tried and true, red spotlight gels. The accompanying hardware is not useable on hard surfaces without pre-drilling, although it would be a cinch to attach the mount for this light on soft surfaces like drywall. The mount is adequate enough to hold the light, but realize you will be working with very small screws. 3M adhesive products might make more sense and do just fine. Circuit board manufacturing on the MB720A is much better than previous model. The circuit board is screwed into the case. The prior model was melted in place. ... show more

These are awesome lights!! I use 3 of them to light my stairs at night. They only activate when the stairway is dark and really light the pathway great. I also bought one for just inside my RV for the stairs getting in. The batteries last a long time! I mounted mine with command strip Velcro but it comes with mounting screws and a plate if you want something more permanent. Great little lights!!! ... show more
