  • Great lens!!
I purchased this lens for my Alaskan vacation. The zoom was perfectly situated for pictures of wildlife on the mountains, such as Caribou, sheep, and mountain goats. It also allowed me great close-ups of the whales in the straits. The lens worked perfectly with my Nike on operated flawlessly during the vacation. The lens is a little heavy. You need to be aware of that if you’re going to carry it for a long period. ... show more

  • Telescopic lenses are useful regardless of skill level; beautiful bokeh
For all the reviews stating that "if you can't take a good picture with an 18-55 mm then it won't help to upgrade", I have to respond with: that is patently false. One of the only things that DSLRs are good for, in comparison to the 16MP smart phones of today, is the zoom feature and there are certain shots that you will never be able to get without a zoom. The way I look at it, these types of far seeing lenses are better than a pair of binoculars in most cases and you can also capture an excellent image of what you see at the same time! That is truly priceless, and nothing can replace the ability to take an image that would otherwise require you to be floating mid-air to get the same level of detail; maybe when jetpacks become available or quadcopter photography, but otherwise, it is impossible to get telescopic detail with a wide-angle lens, especially in places that you are not able to move closer in order to view. Additionally, the flattening effect of a telescopic photo is quite beautiful and this particular lens does produce a fantastic bokeh, as others have stated. I have attached three pictures which allow you to see the benefits of a telescopic lens. The first shows the bokeh in the lower left corner; the photo was taken at a cliff's edge. The other two demonstrate the detail of a full zoom which would otherwise have never been captured. ... show more

  • Great lens!
Auto-zoom works perfectly. Nice weight (feels "high quality"), the included caps lock tightly. Included a large shade (thank you!). Impressive product.

  • Good value for a Nikkor 300mm zoom.
Good value for a Nikkor 300mm zoom. The AF will hunt in lower light forcing you go to manual focus, so it works best on those bright days. Quality is about as expected for a lens at this price. If you are looking for a good quality less expensive zoom, this one fits the bill.

  • Decent
It actually a decent lens ,does everything don't get me wrong but be cautious when buying refurbished,I got mine about a week ago but I started to notice black spots in the image at 300mm which indicates dust in the lens ,I first noticed it when I was trying to take the second image. I've only noticed it full zoom but sometiming to be cautious about ... show more

  • Buy this to upgrade from your kit lens
I was skeptical about buying a refurbished lens however I was pleasantly surprised. The lens is in perfect condition, the shipping was right on time and the lens takes beautiful pictures. I wanted to upgrade from my kit lens and I’m glad this is what I chose.
