I recently installed 4 of these. I built a couple backwards but no big deal. Quality stuff. I've built 5 gates so far. Can be tricky depending on how wet the wood is and if you have help or not. If you don't care how much it lines up with the edge of the wood, just run it. Can be difficult seeing the gate by yourself, depending how big it is.

I am only rating this based on the hardware itself, thankfully. The first time I ordered, the packaging was nearly destroyed and a piece was missing. I attribute that more to the fulfillment center and the shipper (Thanks, Big Brown...) Once the return issues were handled, well, I finally got all four pieces, and another destroyed box. BUT, these are solid, well made brackets, with smooth hinges. Easy to use, but oddly enough, it's BYO screws. Never seen that with gate hardware before. No worries, I've got enough screws.

I have had these kind of frames before (home depot variety), this one feels more sturdy for having a wide bar as the brace instead of a round rod. These are a very tidy way to frame a gate without having to add more wood which is unnecessarily heavy and applies more force to the hinges. These frames are the only way i would build a gate now, they are the best option and will save you money in the long run. From my prior experience i know that the screws eventually pull themselves out, especially at the hinge, and the wood eventually sags. Before using this frame i immediately tossed out the screws which seemed too short for the purpose, and bought 2.5" GRK screws to use instead, the extra depth should make it last longer. I will also be adding a diagonal tension wire to prevent sagging of the wood as it dries. I wish this frame came with such a diagonal tensioning wire and longer screws, it's the only reason for removing a star, otherwise the quality is great. They weren't perfectly square, however they were well dimensioned and once the screws are driven in they self-straighten. Important advice: The assembly is very obvious and simple, but finish assembling the entire frame on a flat surface first to ensure all the wood is flat when screwed in place. Install the top and bottom members first since the vertical members cover the screw hole. Hammer in the vertical members to drive the hidden screw heads into the ends of the vertical boards, it helps to square it. Finally, if you have a choice about the screws holding the hinge to our fencepost, use bolts that pass all the way through to the other side of the post and bind them with washers on the other side so that the screws can not possibly ever pull out as the wood dries. I didn't have that option in my installation since that post was also a wall header on the garage wall. Since the hinges are pre-installed and perfectly aligned, it makes it much easier to figure out boards spacings later when finishing the gate.
