I made 6 wooden handles for my files. The included tools aren't great. I used a chisel from my tool box. One of the wing nuts stripped, so i had to fix that. The tool rest is too short, so I bolted on some longer metal bits I had; I had to finnagle a way to attach it to a heavy board by screwing oblong washers down right next to it (both modifications are visible in second pic.). Works pretty darn well. I'd happily have paid $100 for it, knowing how well it works, but $40 or so is a nice price and I'm glad I bought it. ... show more

I purchased this with the suspicion that I'd be tossing $40 into the wind but thought it'd be worth a gamble. I wanted to turn very small handles (~5in) out of softwood. The very second you apply any kind of pressure the motor is overpowered and stops. Using the tools included I could only just barely touch the cutting surface onto the wood without binding the motor. I was lucky if I produced the tiniest quantity of wood dust. I sharpened both the included tools and my own chisels to see if it helped--it did not. Even lightly holding sandpaper against the wood stopped the motor. No torque, no redeeming qualities whatsoever. ... show more

    • The motor started smoking after 10 minutes, I'm disappointed I bought this as a gift my grandson!!
The motor heats up fast, my grandson had friends over for his birthday and it was really embarrassing He could not get it to work right!!!! And of course it was a gift so I'm passed my 30 days to return!!!!!! Very disappointed!
