  • While I got it $200 off, buying full price is worth the quality.
Size: 36 Color: Olive
First, the images do not capture the beautiful tones the wax reflects. The modeled photos hit it pretty spot on. Though, I would argue that seeing it person is even more impressive. Anyways, this very particular amazon listing is made in Britain. While I have another Barbour that was crafted elsewhere...which I would say is still top quality...I have heard concerns about the more contemporary ‘Ashby’ having quality issues from outsourcing. This is second hand-I could very well be wrong. Onwards: This is a jacket that is meant to last. To take a beating. Yes, it is boxy in the chest and waist. But, from what I understand, this is by design; so you can layer and layer. Especially warmer wool garments, and other stuff you do not want getting wet...Whether it be on your way to your job, or trekking across the pacific-northwest....you get the idea. Also, you can gain or lose a significant amount of weight in these while looking sharp. That being said: I strongly advise buying your true to fit. It will look great. More pressingly—it will look like it actually fits. When wearing, from the front, it actually looks like a modestly modern fit. It is from the back and side you can see the roominess. But, I might add, the quality of the craftsmanship make it pretty apparent it was designed to be a more rustic fit. I-only-buy things that are slim in design. This is the only exception I have made, and I adore it in its entirety. Oh, and it is quite remarkable how this was designed to still fit comfortably-yet cleanly-in the shoulder no matter how many layers. I thought it was odd that the p2p is so large relative to shoulder size length. But, it makes sense now: I think that helps explain my previous point. Lastly, do not buy this expecting to do any alterations. From what I have read, shortening the sleeves is about your only possibility. Even then, you run the risk of voiding the warranty from what I have gleaned. If you want a more modern fit, by all means, try out the Ashby. If you are lucky enough to live near a Bourbor seller, you can get an idea of the fits and your perfect size. Oh, and the hood for this is $50, but I personally highly suggest it. The $150 liners?...Nah, I’m good. I guess If you do not intend to wear blazers, cardigans, etc. underneath, then...I do not know; that price point is kind of ridiculous. If you have a nice quilted vest et al., I would argue that would be easier, as you would not have to keep removing the attached liner (you don’t have to). In conclusion: this is one of the only ‘luxury’ brands worth my time and money. $400 is a lot to me. But, I would compare this to buying shoes with a goodyear welt: Just as you can resole high quality shoes welted shoes again and again; you can freshly wax these year after year. Thank you for reading. I hope this helped. ... show more

  • Very happy with it other than sleeves
Size: 42 Color: Olive
I am a woman who bought the men's coat because I needed a roomier fit than the Barbour women's coats. I have a horse farm and I need to be able to comfortably layer under the coat when the weather makes that necessary. Fits just as I wanted with only one issue. I expected the sleeves to be long on me but anticipated rolling them up as I did with my old Barbour coat. However, instead of the traditional Barbour plaid all the way down the sleeve which made for a nice look when rolling the sleeves, this newer version as "storm cinches" inside the sleeves. If your a tall man, I'm sure that's a great feature but it prevents me from rolling my sleeves up without ending up with a weird bulky roll at my wrist. I still like the coat (nice weight to layer up or down) so I am going to ask my local seamstress if she can shorten the sleeves. One other note, my old Barbour was a more green olive, this is a more brown olive which, looking at the Barbour website, is what they are nor producing now. Finally delivery was very fast though I suspect it had been returned by another customer - a little bit of fuzz or white pet hair caught on the wax shell - but lining, label etc., were clean- so I would suggest the seller look a little more closely at returned items before reshipping them out. ... show more

  • I normally wear a XL and it was to snug so went to a 50-52 UK size and fits well

  • Barbour Quality
Size: 44 Color: Olive
Barbour quality craftsmanship hasn't changed since my first Beaufort jacket 35 years ago which is still. in use. The 2020 version has a few thoughtful improvements, but they have wisely preserved both the functional features and quality of materials and detailing - and still English made.. Well done Barbour. ... show more

  • Nice design, but too pricey for what it does
Size: 52 Color: Olive
The jacket is great - don't get me wrong, but for what it does I think is way overpriced. In my opinion for a lower price there are some American made products better quality and more versatile - true, they may not look so fancy, but oh well.... I am not wearing this jacket to make a fashion statement in the woods, just to serve me when needed. This jacket is more for a light rainy day, a walk in the park and light usage. I was looking for some more rugged for the hunting season, and this won't cut it. ... show more

  • Understated Elegance
I bought this jacket as an all purpose hunting jacket and running around town jacket. It's not heavy, I've bought a zip in liner for when it gets a bit cooler here in Ohio. I'm gonna test it's waterproof qualities later this month :), but having owned a Barbour motorcycle jacket back in the day, I expect it to be as tough as nails and fully water and wind proof. I can't recomend this jacket highly enough, very well made and classy in an understated way. ... show more

  • Superior quality and no better product on the market
Size: 44 Color: Olive
I like every feature of this product. It fits me perfectly. The product quality is best on the market. The pockets are just right for my needs. No wonder Barbour is considered a high end quality product.

  • Great jacket!
Size: 44 Color: Olive
This was purchased to replace the same jacket that my son wore into rags through college and grad school. Well made, long lasting, perfect for his job. He wears it every day!
