It's the first cigarette lighter adapter I've used that is whisper quiet. Seriously. I could hear nothing from the built in fan. So long as it holds up, this is a great product. Solid steel too. So it's built well. Update 5 months later: It didn’t hold up. Won’t work now after only 5 months use. I wrote to the company, but got no response from them. Kinda sucks. I don't know what took me so long to get one of these. Not all vehicles offer heated seats and such. You can use a heating pad for your back or a heated throw for your legs, etc. And you never know how useful it can be until you need it.

*This review has been rewritten. I got a bad inverter the first round. I've since gotten it replaced thanks to the seller, almost completely unprovoked. (Okay, he saw a previous bad review of me panning the unit for premature failure. Still, largely unprovoked.) It's going into my solar power system to provide light duty switched power. I have to commend the customer service provided by Badpas. As for the inverter itself, it's a good unit. Provides solid 5V USB output, and a good 115v soft-started main output. The cooling fan is thermally bonded, and only runs up as much as it needs to, giving a quiet experience compared to other units I've used. The 115v output LVC's at 10.0v. This is lower than most inverters that I have used, and combined with the quiet fan makes the unit one I like to grab when I need an inverter. The USB output does not LVC. Be mindful when using it heavily on a battery or from your car when it's not running. It provides great efficiency across the loads that I've tested it with, both in USB and 115v modes. Its idle draw is so low my solar controller doesn't even recognize it. Here's a list of things that I would recommend you power with it. Laptops, game systems, soldering irons, small computers, cell phones, tablets, clocks*, light duty tools with electronic speed controls, most battery chargers, TVs that don't exceed about 1A on the power draw label**. *Older model clocks, both digital and analog, often use the AC power line as their timebase. These clocks can be easily identified by the fat line cord running directly into the back of the case, with no "bricks" at the wall or in the cord. They will not run as accurately on any inverter. **Older CRT TVs have a degaussing system in them that operates when you power it up cold. These might trigger the unit's overload. Using any of the following will likely end in frustration, failure, and possible damage to your device or the inverter. I don't recommend them: Large transformers, pure inductive loads, large motors, suspicious motorized projects that you built yourself and don't have PFC capacitors, any tool or charger that says "Not For Use With Inverters", heat guns, any product that draws more than 150w. ... show more

Horrible Product got is do I can use my shark rocket vacuum in my car since I live in a apartment complex and after I foam cleaned my seats got ready to use the vacuum and the thing wouldn’t power the vacuum wouldn’t recommend this

I used this one time and couldn't use it again. It worked but I had to have my husband help me yank out the plug after I was done using this. I didn't want my phone charger permanently stuck in this adapter, nor did I want to mess up my charger cable from trying to remove it from the adapter. Also, the insert of instructions was written in such broken English with poor spelling it was almost hard to understand. ... show more

The product works well but a lot of noise comes through the speakers of your car when plugged in. I tried turning the radio off but still a buzzing sound comes through the car speakers. The product works great if you can strand the background noise.

This is also a lot cheaper and more convenient than buying a power generator, large portable battery, solar panel or similar product. This is going to sound weird, but I use this for my laptop and straightener. I go to the gym, shower, and don’t have time to sit around waiting for my hair to dry. With this, I just get in the car and fix my hair at my destination. The box does get warm after a few minutes. I can’t imagine it would be good to use this for more than 15-20 minutes at a time which is about how long I use it. So far so good. Even if it doesn’t last forever, it’s $15 and very wort it. ... show more
