I had 4-year-old regular style blinds that had a broken string. So I installed these blinds in the brackets that were already in the window, they slid right in. There is just one wand, for opening and closing. It just takes a touch to raise them, and a little pull to drop them back down. They cut out a lot of light, but are not thick enough to make a room dark. I like them a lot, and as the rest of the blinds go bad, I'll replace them with these. ... show more

The only tricky part is getting the brackets aligned. Once that's done, the blinds click into place. There's a hanging wand so you can open and close them. To lift the blinds, it's spring-loaded now (there is no string anymore like the older style). You just lift the blinds to raise them, and pull them down to lower them. ... show more

In my den, overlooking the sea, I’ve had a blind that my wife bought when we moved in. I love her, of course, but the blind was awful. How was she to know? So. Some years later, after much subvocal complaining and gnashing of teeth, I thought to spend some money on an alternative. After two months use, this works just fine. The up/down is by hand. It can be easily skewed side to side. That is, you have to lift and lower in the center of the shade, or apply differential pressure to some side with your hand to make it come out even. But, really, if you can put on a pillow case, meh. You can raise and lower with the blinds open or closed. (That was my main issue with the previous : it had to be open to change it, with a cord, which was always in the way.) Yes, you have to have access to the bottom of the blind to make it go down. That is, I have to reach over my desk to lower it below my desk. Oh, the humanity! I think the open/close control rod is a bit short at 15” or so. I used the previous one, which I can reach sitting down. Yours? Duck tape on a stick. That rustic look! The installation is a bear. It simply does not snap easily into the holders. I took pictures, but who cares? Still, as you struggle, remember : it can be done! $18? Go for it! The cats outside, swimming in the sea, cannot see you! ... show more

These window blinds work well once installed, but I did have a little trouble installing. I have a 36" window and these 35" blinds are actually 34.5". I didn't realize that they were too short for the width of my window until I had the brackets installed in the sides of the window frame. Then I moved them to the top of the window, which worked fine, but then you have to clip the blind into the brackets. I'm not sure if it's operator error, but only one of the brackets seems to hold securely. The blind can pop out of the other bracket fairly easily, so I need to be careful when I open and close the blind. I would buy these again, but would definitely double check the sizing so the brackets can fit on the sides rather than the top. ... show more
