Description

The BAKFlip MX4 was the first matte-finished, hard folding cover to market, becoming America’s 1 Selling Hard Folding Cover in just a few years. Simply put, the MX4 just looks better than other covers. Its sleek no-profile appearance allows you to maintain the appearance of your truck, while enabling you to securely stow cargo in the bed. The MX4’s pioneering, textured matte- finish adds a premium look and feel while also protecting against UV damage, annoying finger print marks, and scratches. MX4 has everything you expect from a premium cover. The engineers at BAK Industries fine-tuned even the smallest elements of the cover, down to adding cab corner caps and rail-end cap, to extending a matte-finish throughout the cover’s side rails, clamps, and elevator bolts. The MX4’s integrated buckle system and automatic latching mechanism allows you to drive with the cover partially or fully opened without covering the 3rd brake light. For 100% bed access, simply unlock the cover from either side via its pull latches and fold the cover all the way up against the cab. From there, you can prop the cover in place by tightening two rods into the underside of the panel. For enhanced durability, the MX4 also features pre-molded, shock-absorbent bumpers on either side of the panel, protecting the folded panels from hitting the cover during turbulent driving. First, let me start by saying that this product is every bit as beautiful as you'd expect; it looks and works amazing. Now for the tl;dr folks: I had a unit that (apparently) had a small factory defect in one of the slats that didn't expose itself until the very end of installation. I contacted the seller to see what could be done as the defect was obvious, but didn't fully stop operation so I didn't really want to hassle with uninstalling, returning, receiving and re-installing again. It was also missing a single screw that holds down the strap holder. First off, let me send a HUGE shout out to their CS team -- they were polite, quick to respond and very thorough with their options dealing with this issue. I couldn't ask for better service. They bent over backwards to be sure I was satisfied and that my issue was addressed. Not once did they make me feel like I was a "Karen" and just complaining. For the product, installation was a breeze. I did have another buddy here to help, which came in useful as lifting the top onto the truck might have been difficult for me to do at my age and physical condition but was easy as pie with 2. A second person also helped when it came time to be sure everything was aligned and tight during install. Only basic tools required and it went about as smoothly as their install video shows: absolutely no complaints. And the finished fit and finish were absolutely perfect. Summary: I couldn't recommend a better product. It's worth the extra $$ compared to the "lesser" soft versions and I really did get the best of both soft and hard tonneau covers with this option and couldn't be more pleased. This BAKFlip MX4 replaces a broken rolltop cover I had. I installed this with a little help for alignment, and it was easy to do! I put this on a 2002 Chevy Silverado extended cap Z71 with the 6.5 foot bed. It seems durable, looks great and the best part is my wife, who is 5 feet tall was able to open it completely without getting in the bed of the truck. I was impressed, they really put some thought into how this cover should work to be useful and user friendly. In my opinion this was a win all day long; not to mention I think it makes my truck look great!!! The only downside was the instructions, in one hart was a little confusing where they were discussing the use of wedges; they are included ads are thick rubber strips; not what I expected but when installed are perfect! ... show more

    • Great Tonneau Cover!
I just bought a new truck (2011 Chevy Silverado, 8' bed) and the dealer tried to talk me into a roll-top tonneau for $1300. I thought that sounded steep and I didn't like the idea of a canister taking up cargo space at the front of the truck, so I declined. After much research, I settled on the Bakflip G2. Having an 8' bed of course made whatever cover I bought more expensive than all the "advertised lowest prices;" those are usually for 5 1/2 foot beds. Ordering it direct from BAK would have run $860, but I found it here at Amazon for $739. Heck of a difference! It installed easily. Including unpacking everything, studying the directions, and actually installing it, it took about an hour to install. Frankly, I was shocked at how smoothly the installation went. Clamping the bed rails into place was a piece of cake. What really surprised me, though, was installing the actual Bakflip cover. I set it in place and unfolded it and it laid right into place! I went all around it, looking for a something that needed tweaking or adjusting, but it was in place perfectly. So, I tightened everything down and it works like a charm. The fit and finish are top-notch and it looks really good on my truck. My truck is red, but Chevy's tend to have lots of black and chrome trim, so the black tonneau cover matches well. The only tools needed to install it were a 5/8" socket to tighten down the bedrail clamps and a knife to cut the drain tubes to the right length. I'll sum this all up by saying that I am VERY pleased with the Bakflip G2. ... show more

I spent too much time researching my bed cover and landed on this one. The ability to quickly get it out of the way whether that means rolling it up, or removing it, this was my choice. You lose no room inside the bed. Made of high quality materials. My negative is when it freezes. I live in florida, so this happens only a couple times a year, but you are not able to roll your bed cover if it has frost on it. You’ll have to get it in the sun for a few and then do it. I love the look and function of this tonneau cover. Easy install with my son’s help. This is the second MX4 I’ve owned. After having the first with the full functionality of the bed, I knew what I wanted. I wouldn’t own any other cover.

I will never buy another BAK product and will no longer recommend them to my friends. I have owned four of your covers in the last 10 years and the last one I bought has been nothing but a problem. Ranging from the seals falling out of the tracks and having to reinsert them to the final straw of the back latch assembly completely falling off (starting with one rivet and then they all worked their way out). When I contacted customer service with photos, they stated it is outside the two year warranty but we will offer you a good deal on a new one. Why would I buy a new one when you don’t even stand behind your old one? Your newest model (I have the G2) is marketed as having an upgraded latch assembly, so therefor you know it’s a problem. Your product line has went down hill (great design though) with poor construction and even worse customer service. The first one I bought was indestructible. I have many colleagues that have went with other companies who have stood behind their product years after the expressed warranty disclosure. Bottom line is, do research and do not buy a cover that will not last until at the minimum, the vehicle warranty expires. ... show more
