This cover is quite expensive but still competitive with other brands out there. I went with BAK cause reviews were quite solid. I found and open box for close to 60% off and took a chance. It was still prime so if it was missing parts or damaged I felt ok with the gamble. I installed it on my 2016 Ram Rebel. Like others have said. WATCH THE VIDEO!! installation instructions aren’t the best especially if your not a bit mechanically inclined. All that said, installation after watching video was straight forward. Very nice looking and quite sound. I was anxious to install and get my tools secure so I did this at 11 pm and it took about an hour by myself. I was rushing and forgot to install the drain cups. (After 2 very heavy thundershowers, very little water got in) So needles to say I installed them the following weekend. I was missing the two prop rods and the two stow clips for the rods. I contacted BAK direct and all I had to do was provide a screenshot of my Amazon receipt and my home address. They expedited the parts with ZERO HASSLE! The lady was super kind and professional. She was adamant about contacting them in the future if there were any issues with my cover. Fast forward 4 days and not only did I get the two prop rods, but they sent me the entire installation kit! They could have easily sent me the parts separately. They didn’t skimp out. I now have extra gaskets and seals and clips for future! ... show more

Just bought this as a replacement for my 8 year cover of the same type. Apparently this is an upgraded model because it's now a quad fold and the back lip next to the tailgate is slightly raised and solid aluminum, so I no longer have to lift up the back fold when closing the tailgate. Now the cover can be left in the closed position while opening and closing the tailgate. Very nice fit, looks great! On my previous cover, the support rods took a beating over the years as they held the cover up when hauling materials and exposing the full bed. The newer supports allow the cover to lean all the way back, taking pressure off the rods when weight is leaning against it. Much better design. On my old cover, the rods rested in thin aluminum hooks that were always bending in various directions enabling the rods to fall out. The new cover has solid clasps that holds the rods in the stowed position, a much needed improvement, however, I can't tell if they are plastic or aluminum and im questioning their durability. I'll give an update after I've had a chance to haul things in a full bed. Update: it has been raining HARD for a few weeks, and no leaks. Another update: the rods have held up just fine after hauling many loads both under cover and with the cover open. ... show more

Good cover. Really glad I saw ahead of order by reading reviews that this isn't water tight. I expected it to not fully keep water out and it doesn't. For the cost of it, it should. We have a 2009 Dodge Ram with Rambox that there are very few fit options for. It doe fit well overall and the leakage I have it at the rear. I think installing a larger bulb seal will help seal to tailgate but doubt it will ever be fully water tight. ... show more

When I bought this I really like the look of it and how easy it was to install. After the 1st summer it started leaking water inside the bed of the truck. I removed the cover just in case I did something wrong, but it continue to leak when the vehicle is park. Now 2 and half years later still leaks and now I have found that the rubber at the folds are starting to tear. I had Extang cover before and after 10 years when I traded it in, it never leaked. Little to say this was a waste of money and I will have to buy a new cover. ... show more

    • Very simple and fast, no drilling installation!

I wanted one of these so I can leave tools, camping items, etc in the bed of my truck when I am parked. It is lockable, only if your tailgate is capable of locking. It's rigid and hasn't bent, or swayed of of yet. It keeps my equipment out of site. It's very easy to "flip", or fold up. When flipped open, the straps keep it secure and makes loading gear easy. My kayak still fits and that is a huge plus for me. I know there are other brands on the market, but this is the one I chose. I did have to slightly modify the latching/locking mechanism closest to the tailgate, but I am sure that all truck models fit slightly different. It was a simple job of removing a couple of screw and moving the latch slightly. ... show more

I have the Bakflip G2 on another truck and it is much better than this one. It’s Heavier weight and feels sturdier. I have had this new cover for a week and one latch has already came loose from the cover. Screw stripped out of hole. This new one feels lower quality. Lighter weight. The latch engagement sounds cheap. Plus instead of a one piece side rails ,they now are 2 pieces. Like everything, quality goes down over time. But having already owned one I thought this one would be the same quality and it isn’t. It looks nice and keeps most of the water out. I’m sure this all was done to lower cost and save shipping cost but it’s disappointing after knowing they were better built. ... show more

I've had 3 types of caps in addition to this one and I prefer this to all the rest. I do frequent dump runs and also frequently load up firewood on the truck - this cap allows full access so I'm not crouched while loading/unloading. Having a full bed available is amazing. It's very sturdy, simple stupid to install, and so far 99% waterproof. Looks great, the only downside is that the height clearance is a good 5" less than my Leer fiberglass top since this one sits flush with the bed (and the struts project about 1" into the bed). Looks good. Installed by myself in about 2 hrs, would have been easier and faster if I had help. Only issue I had was one of the star nuts that secures the top to the rails had a damaged handle. Still was able to put the cover on even with the damaged nut and contacted Bak and they shipped out a replacement part that was at my door in 2 days. On my Ram 1500 the stake pockets are open, so some water does get inside the bed through there, but the top itself doesn't leak. ... show more
