I used this on a 2022 Subaru Crosstrek with roof railings rather than strapping to the door jambs with the extra straps. If you look closely at the side-view pic, I kept the back cross bar just to make sure the whole thing didn't shift back. I was able to put in two pop-up tents (the big blue ones you find at Academy or any other sporting goods store), a large plastic bin with beach toys, a second medium size bin with other items, four beach chairs, and a few smaller items. It would have fit our two suitcases (laid flat), but my wife wanted to err on the side of caution since this was the first time using the bag. The material feels incredibly durable, and the heavy-duty zippers glided easily. It comes with a rubber mat to lay under the bag to protect the roof of the car which it did. No scratches. Packing didn't take too long, and the straps are fairly intuitive. Our drive was 4 hours from Houston to Corpus Christi and 4 hours back. It never shifted and the straps barely loosened. I did stop half-way and tightened them a bit, but not much. It did rain early on the first trip, and there didn't seem to be any water in the bag when we arrived. And we never heard any flapping from the material which can be annoying if you've ever tried other methods of roof packing. Overall, if you don't have a large vehicle for packing and make a few trips a year, this works. ... show more

    • Great for Good Weather, But Will Leak in Severe Storms

We took this on our annual summer road trip atop our 2022 4Runner, and overall it did a great job! We put it on top of cross rails and a piece of plywood for the center where the bag wanted to sag, and with all the straps it came with we had no issues cinching it down and hitting the road. Very easy installation and zero worries about it falling off. If it weren't for the drive back where we went through 13 hours of torrential downpours and gusts I would have given this bag 5 stars, but because it ended up leaking and getting our bags wet I couldn't give it the full rating. We drove from VA to GA and it did great on the way down. On the way back we drove in severe thunderstorm warnings for the entire drive (13 hours because of the torrential downpours), so this bag was really put through it. When we got home some of our luggage was wet on the passenger side of the bag. We did everything the directions said - made sure the top was folded down over the whole zipper, secured all the velcro, and put the pin through the zipper handles. Maybe the zipper was faulty, maybe the weather was more than this bag is equipped to handle, but since we know it can't handle heavy rain we won't be using it for long term road travel in the future. ... show more

I bought this to put on our Toyota Highlander for a long road trip-- it worked out great. Held plenty of luggage for my family of eight, and we had no issues. Solidly built, quality zippers, seems quite waterproof though we didn't get much rain. A couple tips, make sure you strap down the front securely and add your heavy stuff to the front-- it did try to flip back on itself when I failed to do this. The other thing is make sure you solidly velcro down the straps so they can't flap-- I didn't do this for one leg of the trip, and I ended up damaging the paint on my roof since the strap kept hitting the same spot hundreds of times. We used the XXL 23 cf bag with the Yakima Loadwarrior with extension and it fit perfectly. Sturdy zipper and many straps to secure the bag. I like that the zipper includes a cotter pin to secure it closed. The zippers look like it could also accept a small lock if you feel the need for that. It also comes with a mat to protect your car roof but we didn't need that. We did encounter some rain in our trip and everything remained dry. Very satisfied with this purchase! ... show more

It folds into a small bag. The directions are very easy to follow. it easily mounts on the roof. It holds a great amount of luggage. Straps are included if you don't have a roof rack and they work very well and are easy to use. It is much easier to work with two people and a stepstool on each side. we stored them in the bag when we were done so we could unload. I wish I knew about this years ago. I love this Bag mate. It was easy to install on my 2017 Ford Escape. It is unbelievable how much it holds. Drove from Northern MN. to Tucson, AZ. It never shifted one bit and it was quite windy at times. I would highly recommend this awesome product. The price was very reasonable.
