Don't BUY from Greenergia, they offer no support or advice for a $485 e-bike BAFANG 48v 750W motor I have had for 2 1/2 months. Motor just quit. I attempted to get help and/or advice and was told that the window for returns was over. There are other sellers that stand behind their products.

I installed this unit on a Trek DS 8.3. Since putting on the 750 W version, I have ridden the bike 140 miles. We live in a mountainous area and the unit works well for assisting hill climbs. The installation took a bit longer to install mainly because I did not buy the bafang scanner wrench ahead of time. The battery was so large that i installed it on my luggage rack. In the mountains I have a range of 45 miles with a 1750 battery. The only negative I have is my bike brakes are manual disk. I think hydraulic disk would be better. Added to a commuter bike (breezer café). Adding the motor and a large 48v battery makes this bike HEAVY (reason for 4 stars). However, the kit really makes the ride effortless. Can easily maintain 30 mph with minimal assist and I am 6'3" 275... Also note, you will want to ad a gear sensor, although I found that installing gear sensor was most difficult part of the build due to rethreading cable, Otherwise, wrapping and cleaning up the cables will require some creativity. I also changed out the stock gear to one at Luna - upgrade highly recommended. I have a 20 mile round trip commute to work and this has worked well so far (~25 minutes each way on average). I converted my full suspension bike with the Bafang mid drive. Couldn't be happier with the kit, it works great. Pulls hard up hills and the battery lasts for miles. Get the c850 display, it's worth the extra cost.

I just bought this kit and finally received the battery. Hooked up the battery once fully charged and the controller 850c doesn’t seem to register the correct battery percentage bc I drove it ~8 miles and it still showed 100%. It also keeps shutting the bike down for some reason yet to be discovered

Make sure you have the tools to take your old crankset off. I had to purchase two other tools to get it off to put this motor on.

The install went well, but wasnt without issue. I would have given it 5 stars if there was better instructions. Also, some of the cables needed to be alot longer, especially the battery cable. The gauge of wire seems a little small in my opinion but I havent had issues yet. Assuming you are able to get your old crank and bottom brackets off, the install was pretty straight forward. The bolts provided seems pretty low quality and seemed like they would strip very easy, so dont hulk them when you install it like the bolts you took off were. I hope they dont snap under heavy use. The motor itself is pretty heavy and seems well built. The brake handles feel fine. I only used the front one since im keeping my gears in the rear. I am only able to use 7 of the 8 gears I have, I believe its due to the placement of the drive gear. But thats not a big deal. I built a 13s5p battery using Panasonic NCR18650PF batteries (14.5AH) and I drove this around one assist level 1 for 10km on small hills and mostly flat areas and it drained the battery about 95wh. I tested the level 5 assist and it goes pretty fast. You dont have to pedal at all really. I am 6'2" 285, and I was pulling a 50lb bike trailer during this test and I didnt feel like I needed to use anything more than assist 1. I averaged between 10-15kph before the motor would kick on and off. I tested the max speed of the motor with no load on a lift, and in my final drive gear, it almost hit 60kph. (according to the speedometer.) The fasted I went was about 25kph. I would say that overall this is a good kit. Time will tell if the quality will last. But I do think the mid drive is worth the money of the in wheel motors. ... show more

I installed this on a Catrike Villager and wow, does this system work great. The video instructions are decent but be prepared to stop and start the video multiple times. Go slow, take your time and make sure you really torque down the motor in the bottom bracket. 750W motor + 48V battery = super power assist on hills. ... show more
