This is an awesome product, extremely well-built of solid cedar. It's beautiful and exceeded all expectations--look, feel, sturdiness. My picture show a somewhat custom installation. We wanted access from the door in the picture to the grill area, so we installed one of the side rails at a 90 degree angle. (It normally would be straight edge, like the rail on the right side.). There were no cracks or defects in any of the cedar wood pieces nor in the black matte connections/screws/parts/etc. Gorgeous. Full roof is angled to allow snow/rain to run off (hint: make sure you know where it runs to, because we get a lot of rain, and you don't want it ending up under your pergola). Now let's talk installation. I hired my handyman to assemble and install. It took him 4 days. This is not an easy project. There are literally hundreds of parts (nuts, bolts, wood, sides, rails, bars, etc. I don't think it can be done by just by anyone. But if you're a confident DIYer, and experienced, go for it, but prepared. You still may need assistance. Another hint: the big metal pieces for the roof and side bars come with plastic coverings. If you try to just unpeel the plastic, you will be at it for days. Put these pieces in the sun for about an hour. The plastic will heat up, and then you can pull it off easily from the metal. We learned this hard way after a few hours trying. (Kudos to me for getting the idea--my handyman was close to throwing the metal over the back fence in frustration.) At the end, you will end up with a beautiful pergola, perfect fit for our Weber Genesis grille. Did I forget to mention the electrical panel? We mounted it to one of the poles. It has multiple outlets for your BBQ, a phone charger, lights (not included)--even has a little tray to hold a phone while it is charging. This is a clever, well constructed product--not some cheap imported knock-off. It is certain to last for many, many years, and give us years of pleasure. Final note: we added 2 coats of stain to the cedar. It really made the wood pop. And protects it from sun and elements. Enjoy! Remember what you will have once it is done, as you are assembling. And remember this isn't something that you put together in an afternoon, or even a day. To Saxony, I can only say, "Well done dudes." You got this right. ... show more

This came in 2 very large boxes on a pallet. We bought it to cover our BBQ. My son and husband put it together in about 3 hours. Its sturdy and well made. Looks great. It is a lot of pieces so don't be discouraged. Once they laid everything out and got organized it seemed like it went pretty fast.

Had this for a year now and has been more than reliable. I know it says at least two people to assemble, however if you have access to a a-frame ladder like myself, it can be done by one person. When delivered, be sure to have enough space, comes in multiple boxes stacked on one long pallet. It helped that the packaging was organized and labeled for easy step by step assembly. It took me sometime to do since it was just me, but I had it up in three days. The wood is not solid wood, post have a core to it but once setup is pretty sturdy. I went ahead and stained it for longevity and honestly have done a lot of add ons to it. From drop down shades, curtains, tv, fan and gutters, it’s handled everything perfectly. Was worried about the small screws that were holding the roof down, but has not been an issues at all. I do have a small leak in one area however has been great against rain and the sun. I did anchor it down with bigger material than supplied. I shopped for months for a canopy that would fit. This canopy was well worth the price and saved me a lot of money compared to others. ... show more

First of all, if we could give this product a 10, we would! My boyfriend and I bought this for our deck. For context, it is a 2nd-floor deck on a giant hill, and we get blustery winds. We got it for being able to sit out in all kinds of weather so we can enjoy our deck. The cedar wood smells so good, and it is solid-like, 500-horsepower sturdy. My boyfriend put the whole thing up himself, and he said it was so easy to do. The reason he said that was that everything aligned; all the right parts and pieces were there and fit well, nothing had to be improvised. I watched him put it up without any swearing-he told me to put that in the feedback. He said this company knows what it is doing. It is beautiful, impressive, and sturdy. We receive all kinds of compliments on it, and I usually don't give feedback, but he insisted because it was such a great find. We even had it delivered a week earlier than promised. In case you didn't notice in the description, there is an outlet, and we are installing some fun, outdoor chandeliers for nighttime enjoyment. My only regret is that I didn't find this company and product before I went through a bunch of toads first-oh well, live and learn. We will be buying another one! ... show more
