    • A better mouthpiece makes for a better tone
I am just a beginner on the trumpet. My trumpet came with a 7C mouthpiece, and I was struggling.. with everything. The mouthpiece numbers work as follows: Larger number = larger cup = better tone to some degree, and lesser letters = deeper cup. So, with this mouthpiece - I still struggle but at least the sound is better and the low notes easier. The deeper cup helps with getting a nice resonance. I saw an advert for a different mouthpiece that will solve all problems. That's probably not true. But sounding more clear and resonant is more motivating for practice ... and this mouthpiece also feels nice. ... show more
