The curling iron has blades that extend over the bottom of one side, so that you can curl hair on the ends. The other side is just plain, as a flat iron would be. I like to wear my hair straight with a bend at the end. For this the trick is to make sure the blade side is facing you as you look in the mirror. As you go through that hair section, curve it so the ends hit the blade side. I have a hard time flatting my own hair in back. The ends just look straight like a board (but not attractively I don't think). I am learning to use it to curve the very back. As my hairdressser says, it is hard to operate on your own head in the back! It has 3 temps: 340-400-4xx (never used highest one). I wanted to keep my highighted and smoothed hair from breaking and my old flat iron had no temps. I think the 340 is cooler than my old one. I have another iron that curls on one side and straightens on the other; it is better for full curls than straight and it is harder to operate. This one is great for straightening which I do mostly and with end curl/bend.

I bought this in 2012 and it still works as well as the day I bought it. I don't use it as often as I used to but it's still in my hair tool rotation. I've dropped it a million times and it can really take a beating. It heats fast so it's my go-to tool for a quick hair touch-up before I head to work. It is well worth the money I paid (at the time, $99) and I would repurchase it. Highly recommend.

For the price, it gets the job done and I can't complain. I use it to straighten and curl, but after a while it starts to snag my hair. Make sure you clean it often, as buildup from oils or products in your hair will affect performance. I will say that when I curl smaller sections of my hair with it, the curls hold up better than with a curling iron. I still find that I have to pull out the curling iron to get the wave I want in the front (without kinks).

I have been using a flat iron for close to a decade. My hair stylist and good friend bought me my first Chi flat iron all those years ago. When I stepped on it and had to buy a new one I bought a tourmaline plated model recommended by the local beauty supply house and returned it a week later. I then bought a Babyliss Nano Titanium and was just as happy as with the Chi. Recently my hair seems to be getting frizzier and harder to keep moisturized. It may be my age or possibly the grey that's taking over. Whatever it is, it has sent me on a hunt for something I could use on the days I don't want flat, straight hair. This is it!! I could never curl my hair with any of my other flat irons even though my hair stylist could do it with ease. First time using the Babyliss Pro U Styler I achieved exactly the curls I have been trying to get on my own for years with none of the frizzies and very little difficulty. I expect it to get easier and quicker as I master it's use. two thumbs up, Babyliss!

I bought this for the purpose of making waves in my thick shoulder length hair. It seemed like a great idea because the curl/flatiron combo would also combat frizz. However: It's very difficult to maneuver to hold it taut enough to wrap the section of hair to curl/wave and pull the hair through. On the few times when I can make this happen, hair is inevitably caught around the plates. I often have to manually unravel it with my other hand to free the hair - sometimes this causes burning if a lot of hair is stuck. But it takes many tries to get the wave to stick. If the angle isn't perfect, it results in only a crease mark where I started the attempt and the rest of my hair is just hot, not curled or wavy. Disappointing. I started conservatively but now I've tried all of the different heat settings to no avail, thinking that hotter would make the curling/waving easier. All the heat did was burn my hair more. Every time I use it I have to remove pulled out hair from around the plates. I burned my fingers many times as the hold section is not big enough to get a firm grasp. So be sure to have a heat styling glove handy. I did not know the return cutoff date and after using this just a handful of times and even after watching videos and tips, it was clear that this was not doing the job for my hair. I've had other BaBylissPRO products that I love and I'm disappointed. I'd like to exchange this for another product.

So I have to admit I was nervous to purchase this flatiron after reading some of the reviews that this was not at genuine product. Well I have to say that the one I got is the real deal! I even compared it to one that my stylist sells and uses in her salon. It looks the same. The packaging was perfect and just as it should be coming from the manufacture. Shipping was speedy and is as described. I am very happy with this flat iron! As I continue to use it if I feel there is an issue I will adjust my review accordingly, but so far I'm happy! (And just to add, I was not compensated in any way for making my review! I am just a regular customer!)
