My 9 month old got this at 8 months and has taken an interest to it ever since getting it. It makes all sorts of different noises that aren't annoying or obnoxious. I don't know why so many people complain about the fan that turns on so the birds will go up. It's not super loud, at all. You need the fan or the birds wouldn't move.
