My husband has used this for years. He has big loose curls and this gives just the right amount of hold. Light scent, not perfumy. Not sticky or tacky. Not a hard crunchy finish.

    • "Brilliant" is similar to "TENEX" a hair gel from the 1980s that no longer exists.
It's a bit on the expensive side, but when you've got thick, unruly, curly hair, that tends to get frizzy after washing, it's worth it. It has a nice natural smell, as do most AVEDA products. I put a quarter size amount into my hands and distribute it all over my wet hair, and let it air dry. I get these perfectly formed curls, that look like I spent hours at the beauty shop getting. I am so glad I discovered this. (It was actually in my drawer for a few years, and apparently was a fail, as I wasn't using it correctly before. When I did a retry, of less product, I was pleasantly surprised, by how beautiful my hair turned out, so I ordered more on Amazon. ... show more

Finally I found a ‘gel’ that does not make my hair feel dirty or sticky. AVEDA products for me have been on my shelves for many years. They are a bit pricey and the scents are not always my favorite. Don’t get me wrong, they are very botanical because for what they are made of, just don’t expect florals and exotic fragrances. It’s the end results I’m looking for. ... show more
