  • 6k miles, so good so far!
Style: 2003-2007 Accord 2.4L
So I thought I would wait until I logged some miles before I wrote a review. I have a 03 Honda Accord that had 154k miles on it. It's started to burn oil, about 1 qt every 1k miles a while ago. The original CC finally failed and then I bought a Walker that was CARB compliant. Failed after 3k miles. Piece of junk and cost $400. So I bought this one which IS NOT CARB compliant but luckily I'm not required to use one where I live. So 6k miles later, and the car runs great, no check engine lights. Just did a 3k mile road trip with no issues. I know the oil burn will eventually clog it so I bought another one so I can just swap it out and maybe clean the other one. The build quality is good and it fit no problem. So for the $ you just can't beat it. BTW if you have a car that originally didn't have CARB compliant Catalytic Converter I would not put one on it. It's my opinion that the car is not designed for that type of CC and it will eventually fail and run poorly. So if you can get away without having to install one (sorry CA) I would do so. ... show more

  • Great Fit For 1999 Honda Civic LX
Style: For 96-00 Civic
The manifold/converter was packaged nicely, the quality was better than expected, and install was a breeze. Fit was good, alignment was spot on, seems very durable, and good value for the money. This was purchased for my 1999 Honda Civic LX sedan. The OEM converter was clogged and took away power and was loud. This one is very quit, got my low end torque back and acceleration is smoother. I paired this up with Northeastern Exhaust front pipe, resonator pipe, and muffler. I wanted to stay close to OEM. Didn’t want a loud performance exhaust for my D16Y7 lol. Remember to purchase a separate socket for the o2 sensors. There are ones you can buy on Amazon or a local parts store the hat the slit in the socket to allow the o2 wires to not get in the way when unscrewing. ... show more

  • Good quality for the price. Bolts & gaksets not the right size
Style: For 03-11 Element
Original Review September 2020: Mine arrived today. Initial impressions are that its actually a really good quality based on price. The pipe is mandrel bent (no folds or ripples). The weld fillets are pretty sloppy but its not meant to be an aesthetic piece. As long as they used quality material and didn't let it get too hot then the welds should hold. I can confirm as of October 2020, the bolts included are still incorrect and do not fit the factory Element flanges. The thread size is too big. So you still have to go out and buy new bolts (about $10 each from dealers or stores if you go with the specialty design). However I got the last of the current inventory with my purchase... perhaps future inventory will have the bolt issue fixed. The catalyst does have some laser engraved numbers on them, but its almost too small and minor to read. I assume its an EPA code and maybe a serial. You will practically have to find it with a magnifying glass to see. As of writing this, I have not installed the piece yet and will update if the fit is not right. I do not expect it will pass Colorado emissions, but for this price it will be acceptable for a visual inspection. If it doesnt pass the smog test, then a higher quality and price point will be necessary. I will update when/if I ever come to learn whether it passes. **Update: Installed and it fits well. I learned that hard way that none of the hardware (bolts or gaskets) from this kit works, not even the gaskets. I had to redo the installation a few weeks later with a Honda front gasket (18229-S6M-003) because exhaust was still escaping and creaking a horrible noise. And also used 2x of the Walker (brand) bolts part #35129 and the Walker small (rear) gasket part#31378. With those everything bolted up really nicely and easily. Its now been a few months, and the vehicle is still running normal. I will add two more pieces of useful information I learned to help anyone else: 1) if after having your cat stolen your vehicle has all kinds of warning lights and error codes, then put the new O2 sensor in, and replace fuse #4 in the footwell. That fuse can blow when the o2 sensor wire is cut and it causes all kinds of systems to go bananas. Once I replaced that fuse and cleared the error codes (with a obd scanner) all those systems like traction control etc were normal again 2) I bought my new o2 sensor from 1aauto.com. It was significantly less expensive than other brands or from Honda, and its working just fine as well. Last note, since installing this cheapo cat., no one has stolen it, because I don't think these have aftermarket scrap value. Though I anticipate not all thieves will know that and this one could still be stolen by a thief who doesn't know this is not one of the valuable OEM ones. **Final Update, November 2021: I purchased this unit in September 2020 as noted in the original review. Its not been over a year, and this cat has worked great. As noted I had to upgrade to OEM gaskets because the gaskets that came with the cat (at that time, I can't speak for now) fit, but do not work, too big and cause an exhaust leak. The bolts shipped with mine were way too big as noted. The vehicle did NOT pass a Colorado emissions test with this cat, which was kind of expected. The HC, CO, & CO2 figures were actually pretty good and my engine is very healthy as well. However the NOx result in the emissions test was too high. It was 2.8595 GPM, which with other figures looking OK, indicates an ineffective catalytic converter. Long story short, I had to buy a CARB catalytic converter to pass the test, and all other things being constant, the NOx came down to .3970 with the $700 CARB cat. So that is the difference that the extra ~$550 gets you. What this means is if you live in a state that requires CARB-level emissions quality (I think thats CA, CO, NY and maybe a couple others you should confirm that), you will need one of the CARB certified cats to pass, this EPA one will not do it, even if your engine is running very clean. If you're not in one of those states, this one will work great for you. Now that I have passed the emissions test, I am putting this EPA unit back on, because if one of them is going to get stolen, I would rather it be the cheap one, and of course, the cheap one is much less tempting for thieves. I have provided this lengthy review in hopes it helps people who were victims of catalytic converter theft like I was, but are not able to shell out a few grand for an OEM replacement or to have a shop put one on for outrageous labor costs. So I hope that helps you. How about that for a complete review, huh? ... show more

  • Good Cat, Bad hardware and gasket
Style: 2002-2006 CR-V 2.4L
I bought this converter for a 2003 Honda CRV 4 cylinder, it seems to be of good quality installed it over the weekend to fix cat malfunction check engine trouble code which it did, and it passed VA emissions test today, however if you plan on installing this on the same type of vehicle make sure to have ready a bolt set for the flange before the cat the bolts that came with it were to big and would not fit on the manifold also the doughnut gasket is crap Don’t use it it’s very brittle. Every thing else is good, we’ll see if it stands the test of time. ... show more
