The best diagnostic tool for the BMW enthusiast who does their own minor repairs. Fast code reading. Results in plain English. No PCodes to look up. Also does servicing resets. Gives the home user the ability to reset some service notifications. Change your own oil saving an average of $100 almost pays for this alone and it gives you the ability to reset the oil service indicator keeping the car correctly reminding you when it's time for an oil change again. It has the ability to calibrate steering angle, bleed the ABS system and much more depending on year and model of your BMW. Free lifetime upgrades. This means it will ad the ability to scan cars manufactured in the future. The perfect tool to take with you when looking to buy a used BMW, Mini, or Rolls Royce. Just plug it in to the OBD2 port and switch the ignition to on, and scan for any issues the car may have before you buy it. For the price of this unit it's even worth buying just to use for buying a new used car saving you from having undisclosed or unknown problems after your car purchase. I personally own this unit and is the best hand non professional unit available in my opinion. I have ran professional diagnostic software after and before this unit and this units accuracy it on par with professional diagnostic software. If your not mechanically inclined and have your car serviced by professionals? This unit is still a valuable tool to run on the car before you have a shop work on it. Most shops are honest. But there's always a chance to end up with a dishonest shop that may charge for unnecessary work. This will give you the information to know before you take your car in for repaired what needs to be repaired. This way you can drop your car off with prior knowledge of what needs replaced to fix the car and the confidence to drop it off with knowledge of what is wrong with your car. Avoids attempts of unnecessary repaires being done by the rare yet always possible dishonest mechanic. I have recommended this unit to other BMW owners I have never met but interacted with on BMW groups on facebook, Blogs on the internet and they went out of their way to thank me after purchasing the Autophix unit. April 22, 2020 Despite the scanner's failure, the Seller VANTOOL has been responsive throughout. They have never ignored a message written, their communications have been professional and they promise to fulfill a refund once they receive their product back. I think that's worth noting. So while I am not pleased with the scanner's malfunction due to no fault of my own... I can't have any complaints in how the Seller has responded to fulfill "satisfaction." So 2 stars for the product's life-span but 4 stars for the Seller (one star reserved for my time and expense0. April 19, 2020 Went to use it today and no communication error on OBD - ignition on, tired on another vehicle same result. Tired to perform a FW update - unsuccessful. Communicated with Seller.. They were responsive and finally gave instructions to return the defective device. Upon their receipt of the shipment they promise to issue a refund (you do not get a replacement shipped to you). Why the device would just fail after not being used for a month or so is beyond me. I'll update once this has been resolved. Added a comment 11/23/19 Update Nov 11/18/19: Still working just fine - have used it extensively. Arrived early from AMZ delivery although not boxed just in mailer. No sign of any damage. Already had pdf user manual downloaded (not so great - should cover each menu item - it does not). Manual knocks one star off the rating (amended). Basic navigation - pretty simple to master in a few minutes, no need for a SW update as both BMWs were in this code version. Tried first on X3 - no issues, cleared some old fault codes - re scanned no faults. Battery test worked perfect. Next tried on Z4 - two fault codes (known issues) cleared, waited timeout re-scanned codes not cleared. Repeated two more scans and on third time all set. No faults (of course they will re-appear after some mileage as expected. Battery test worked pretty accurate as measured with a DVM. So I'll use it frequently over the next thirty-day return window to see how well the instrument holds up (my former scanner brand F died). But first impression - works as advertised. Great product. I have an F30 - 2016 BMW 328i xDrive and had a bad battery that need replaced. I bought a NAPA battery, swapped it out, and registered the replacement with the Autophix tool and it was all done. At first it said that the BMW special functions weren't supported, but after I updated it to the newest software it worked perfectly. Awesome tool, does it what it says. The only slight negative is that they don't give instructions on how to update. You have to go to their website and go to the download page. Find your model and download the update. Unzip the downloaded file then go into the unzipped folder. Install the drivers first, then run the update file from the unzipped folder. All in all, great product that will save you lots of money. The cost of this tool and a new battery is still cheaper than having the battery replaced at a BMW dealership. ... show more
