  • Bad thermistat
I like the design. The clear cover makes it easy to see inside and watch the eggs hatch. But the thermistat and humidity controls are way off. I put 2 thermometers inside in 2 places and to get the temp to 99.2 I had to set the incubator temp to 104. So can't trust its temp gadge. It was also hard to get it to set and stay. I have 65 quail eggs in it now will see how many I can get to hatch. I do like the way you put water in for the humidity so you don't have to keep opening the lid. And waters will come in handy when they get older. Also don't like there is no way to contact the maker on the how to operate packet. The first 2 pictures are this incubator with cover and I had a big blanket still not correct temp. The 3rd pick is my older incubator same thermometer. It is perfect. They have sent me another incubator same issue. Any idea how to adjust temp. It will only go to 103 on theirs but still only get to 97 with my thermometer. ... show more

  • Simple, somewhat flimsy incubator
Got this for future incubation needs. Set it up with a couple of eggs to figure out how easy it was to use. The settings are straightforward and easy to use; however, the plastic is a bit flimsy and I'm sure how well it would stand up to year-over-year use for incubating chicks. Warmth seems good and appropriate for hatching ... show more

  • Keep the styrofoam
The media could not be loaded. It says you can use the packing while operating in a cooler area to keep temps consistent. Egg tray slides from motor/cam in cover. Has everything needed to put it together. It’ll be interesting to see how it turns out.

  • Lots of space and holding temperature!
So far this is holding the temperature well and I'm 7 days into incubating chicken eggs. I'm doing a dry hatch method with local hatching eggs and so far so good. The eggs are turned every couple of hours by the egg tray moving from one side of the incubator to the other. This incubator has lots of space and could easily be used for lockdown and raising the humidity for the last 3 days for the chicks to hatch. I like that you can set low and high alarms and the instructions are easy to follow. The egg tray inserts are easily moved to adjust for different egg sizes. I have 18 eggs plus 2 temp/humidity probes inside the egg tray. I have some eggs that are bantams others that are large chicken eggs and there was easily enough room to fit in the 2 temp/humidity probes and not impact the eggs turning. The incubator is really quiet unless the temperature falls out of the alarm range. The eggs turning don't make much noise at all so this is great if you are short on space to put your incubator away from direct sun and away from vents and fans. The unit is big and does take up a big chunk of counter space in my small kitchen. I keep the base in the styrofoam base to help keep the temperature stable so don't throw out the packaging - you might need it! I don't like the bottle and tube set up for adding water to the bottom of the incubator. These set ups are gravity fed and often leak or flood the incubator. A clean, new sponge or clean paper towel and a small plunger syringe without a needle to introduce the water in the hole in the base would work better to raise the humidity without completely flooding the base. Run the incubator empty before getting your eggs to make sure that the temperature is set correctly. I had to adjust my incubator temperature but once set it is holding and working great. I would definitely look to getting another incubator like this to support hatching eggs from our homestead chicken breeding projects. There's lots of space inside the incubator so I could add more eggs from another incubator to stay in this unit from lockdown for hatching since the tray would be moved out of the incubator. I would put that rubber shelf liner stuff onto the mesh floor of the incubator to help the hatched chicks have grip when first out of the egg. UPDATE I have found that when it came to lockdown of the incubator to increase the humidity at hatch, the base of the incubator leaks. There are a couple of holes in the base (not at the place where the water tube is squeezed into the hole) but other holes. I don't just pour water in the incubator base during lockdown I put in come clean paper towels but even with some paper towels to help absorb some water the base flooded out all over the counter and floor. The flooding means it is incredibly difficult to keep the incubator above 70% relative humidity. Since my eggs are still hatching, I'm periodically adding a little warm water through the water dispenser and gently tilting the incubator to move the water around the base to be absorbed by the paper towels. I also found that because of how this incubator fills with water, if the water dispenser (without the bottle attached) falls down it will allow water from the incubator to run out of the base. I have to keep changing towels from under and around the incubator so I don't have water leaking everywhere. For the next hatch I'll be looking to seal those additional holes with silicone sealant. I have also found that the egg turning trays can stop some eggs from moving. Some slots can make the holder a little too big or too tight for your eggs. If they are a little close it is difficult for the eggs to be turned but also for you to be able to easily get the eggs out to candle them. The built in candle LED wasn't bright enough for me to see so we use a flashlight instead. It's still a good budget model incubator but there are some watch outs for the user and some improvements for the manufacturer to consider. ... show more
