I recently purchased a backup camera for my Tesla Model X 2023 since it didn't come with a bumper camera, and I wanted to share my experience with this alternative. The installation was a breeze - it took me less than 10 minutes, and most of that time was spent finding the perfect mounting spot. As a fellow Tesla owner, I suggest considering either the bottom of the license plate or the grid line on the bumper for optimal placement. The best part is that this camera is wireless, so there's no need to worry about wiring or potential car warranty violations. It works seamlessly without any delays or disconnections, and I am quite impressed by its clear night vision. I normally park my car on underground parking lot where there's not enough light and here the backup camera provide good image for me to recognize what is in front of the car. The camera angle can be adjusted to let you see objects just 30cm away from the car, depending on where you mount it. so it prevent accidentally scratching the bottom of your car or your dumper when driving or parking. I even tested it out during a car wash and it held up perfectly. However, there are a couple of minor drawbacks. For instance, there's no option to keep the monitor on continuously, which would have been helpful at times. Also, I had to buy an additional phone mount to attach the backup camera monitor on the backside of the Tesla screen for better visibility. (But I think It's depend on your preference. Most of cars would be fine with the phone mount they provided.) Overall, I'm really happy with this backup camera and no longer have to worry about obstacles in front of my car.     • Super simple install!
This is my fourth Autovox purchase, but this one is the most straightforward install out of the box. The camera is charged and ready to install. The limiting factor of difficulty is your license plate setup. Once the camera is secured, pairing with the monitor is instantaneous. The monitor unit itself is pretty compact and doesn't get in the way of anything. The monitor menu is pretty intuitive and has the option to display both mirrored and inverted images. There are several different options for parking line angles (vertical only) including the option to remove the parking lines altogether (great if you want to mount the camera on your front license plate). You will probably need a portable battery to recharge the camera as it will be a pain to remove the license plate every time you need to charge the battery. This brings me to my only knock on the product so far: the battery charges via USB-A instead of the newer USB-c. (not enough to knock down a star). Overall the picture quality is good and does a great job of making sure I can see the front of my truck when parking. This is a great product for someone with a truck who needs cameras when the tailgate is down or needs to see the front of the truck for parking and overlanding situations. ... show more

This backup camera is easy to setup. The camera unit came pre-charged. The monitor also starts quickly once the car starts and it immediately connects to the backup camera. The 720p image makes a big difference compares to my previous backup camera. The image is really clear, sharp and vibrant. I like that the monitor has the option to switch the orientation of the image because I put the camera below the license plate. The monitor can also connect to the second camera that I am planning to get to put in front of the car. This will help during parking. the battery level of the backup camera is also shown on the monitor that help ensure that I can use the backup camera. I love that this is wireless and can be plugged into any of my vehicles. Pros: up and running in only a few minutes of installation, this is seriously so easy. The hardest part was unscrewing my license plate. Mount behind the license plate and it is sleek and indiscrete. screen auto-turns off after a little while, so this is really only a backup device or to check on some items you may be towing. you have to press the center button on the right of the screen to wake the unit back up. Negatives; The camera did come with a bit of a scratch on the lens and I think this was due to a shipping problem. I don't think there is an easy way to plug in the rechargeable portion (on the license plate) with my car. The cover cap is also a bit awkward with a small stub micro-usb plug to keep it on the body. Would prefer a usb-c charging device. Looking at the screen with a lot of glare is dim/difficult. I will look to see how long the charged device lasts before needing to be recharged - at that time I will consider their solar charging pad. ... show more
