If you hook up a trailer or camper by yourself, you know the absolute frustration of the backup game. You back up, park, get out, realize you're two inches off line, get back in, and repeat the process three more times. I bought this to put an end to that routine, and it has honestly been a total game-changer. The "one-minute install" claim is actually true. Running wires through a truck bed or an RV chassis is a massive headache, but with this, you literally just snap the magnetic base onto your steel bumper or hitch receiver, plug the monitor into the 12V dash outlet, and you’re good to go. The magnet is incredibly powerful; it clamps down with a heavy, solid snap and doesn't budge while you're maneuvering. The digital wireless signal is rock solid. The video feed on the monitor is crisp, clear, and has absolutely zero lag, which is exactly what you need when you're trying to line up a hitch ball perfectly on the first try. It turned a stressful, multi-step chore into a quick, one-shot job. A couple of quick tips to get the most out of it: Keep it clean: Before you snap the magnet onto your bumper, wipe the metal surface real quick. Because the magnet grips so tightly, any grit or road grime trapped underneath could scratch your paint when you pull it off. Keep it in the cab for the highway: This is designed as a portable utility camera for hitching, backing up, or navigating tight campground spots. While the magnet is tough, I wouldn't trust any magnetic camera to survive potholes and 65 mph highway wind resistance over a long road trip. Once I’m hitched up, I just pop the camera off and toss it in the glovebox until I reach the next campsite or dump station. The battery life has been great for these short bursts of use, and it recharges quickly. If you're tired of guessing your distances or playing the "back up a little more" game, this thing pays for itself the very first time you use it. Highly recommended.

I bought this to replace a backup camera that had been attached to my radio that had died. I wanted something i could use when I needed it and then store away. This camera works perfectly in that regard as it comes with a soft case. Setup was very easy and worked very well. View screen is very clear and the magnets on the camera are strong so no fear of it falling off. So why give it 4 stars instead of 5 - I haven't had it long enough to determine durability. I plan on doing a followup after several months of use and will adjust the ratings accordingly.

About a year ago I had purchased and have since been using a backup camera system and an add-on front camera from Foxpark (AUTO-VOX's sister brand). Not only has this system been a great addition to my car, I also found their customer service to be 5-star. So I was expecting good things when they reached out to ask if I wanted to review their newly upgraded portable trailer camera system. First let me say that, just as with my existing backup camera system, this camera and monitor deliver clear detailed video (with optional guideline overlay) which takes all the guesswork out of what's happening behind your trailer or motorhome. That this is a quality product is clear from the moment you open the box. Packaging this system in a handy hard-shell carrying case is not just a nice touch, it shows that AUTO-VOX understands that one whole set of use cases for this system is as a portable system to set up when the need arises. Inside the case you'll find the monitor with its suction cup mount, antenna and power cord w. 12v lighter plug. The camera comes with its own antenna and USB charge cord. But the real versatility starts with the camera's included mounting options... Let's say you own an RV, or a camper or other enclosed trailer which you regularly tow. Pick a spot with a good rear view, and screw on the permanent mount. You can still easily slide the camera off to recharge its battery (which they estimate you'd only do every 2 or 3 months - or add an optional solar panel to skip charging altogether), or to move it elsewhere. On the other hand if, like me, you find yourself renting or borrowing trailers then the included magnetic mount is priceless. Not only is the magnet extremely strong, but also there's an included steel plate which can be used when dealing with non-magnetic surfaces. I wish I had known about this system during my most recent trailer rental. For a month I had a U-Haul "U-box" which I had to maneuver around multiple times every day! The U-box is a wooden crate with a weatherproof cover. That metal plate would have slipped perfectly in-between the box and cover just over the rear door, allowing the magnetic mount to easily hold the camera with a full view behind the trailer. The time before that, I was towing an aircraft on a flatbed trailer. Fortunately, there were two of us on that drive, but it took a lot of neck-craning and mirror-tilting for us to know that we had to pull over to adjust the load a couple of times. Using the magnet to mount the camera to the back of the pickup cab, above the bed, would have let me easily watch the load. Those are just a couple of situations from my own experience where this camera system could be used. Another example would be placing the magnet mount on a pickup tailgate aimed down to make lining up the hitch a breeze. And, even when not towing, you could aim this to keep an eye on the load inside a truck bed. In short - if you own, borrow, rent or drive any RV, truck or trailer you should own this camera system.

3/15/26 UPDATE: I STILL LOVE THIS CAMERA! Picture is clear, has wide angle view. The magnet is strong, camera stays in place. When I park I bring the camera indoors. Recharge when needed. Excellent product for $100. 5 STARS!! I LOVE THIS CAMERA. This camera is PERFECT for what I require. NO wiring! Magnetic Camera. Can use in any car at any time, comes with a carry case, USB charging wire. The camera has a wide angle view & also night vision. Simple, but all I need. Charge the camera, once charged you are good to go. A little background.. I had just paid over $300. to someone to wire & add a backup camera.. he installed a pos camera that did not have night vision and did not have a wide angle view, I was very unhappy and basically told "too bad". I lost $300. when I could have just purchased this Auto Vox Wireless Magnetic Backup Camera and installed myself and saved a LOT of $$$$$. The only reason I have not given 5 stars, yet, is because I have only had the camera for 2 days and used it only once. I will update after using it for a period of time.

Good monitor resolution. Also more compact height than earlier model and I love the new stub aerials as they don't get in the way. The dash mounting is also improved as it has a strong universal type attachment to the camera. I've got a goose neck flexible mount from ebay which sits into my Jeep GC cupholder and it clips straight onto the monitor. It didn't workout with our Mitsi Outlander cupholder though. So the monitor doesn't block my road view anymore. It'd be handy if the monitor had USB A power supply for home use too as I don't have a car cigarette lighter outlet in the house. I was able to use my existing caravan mount for the camera so instal was super easy. Build quality feels solid. Reception from my 7.5 m caravan to the monitor in the Jeep seems excellent but haven't done a decent road trip yet so won't know about interference if any. We think there's no signal lag, so very happy with that. We'll be very keen to check on any camera misting in wet weather when it comes. We thought the solar panel should be included but it's no biggy.
