It's not that long of a book, but it's packed full of great tips, easy tricks, and knowledge about the very basics of car maintenance. I'm embarrassed to say that I'm 35 and did not know about a lot of the advice in here, but I'm so happy that i picked this up. It's never too late to learn, and I'm going to read this often and again so i remember. I wish i had this book when i was a teenager so i could always reference back to it. For first time car owners
This little guide would for a young driver getting their first car. It covers all the basics of regular maintenance (checking fluids/belts/battery) and is basically a friendly voice over your shoulder reminding you to be mindful of your car before you're in a jam. There was a great tip in here if you ever get stuck in the mud I will definitely keep in mind (lower tire pressure down a lot and use floor mats for traction if needed.) The reference section at the end linked to a lot of helpful websites as well (Allstate, drivers ed etc.) I did appreciate it started with safety precautions first if you ever experience a breakdown on the road. Basic Car Info
This is a relatively short book that covers the basics of car care. Changing the oil, checking tire pressure, checking remaining life of the tires, changing filters and wipers, etc. There's not much here that is surprising, but it is all good advice to stay on top of things before problems crop up.
