I did quite a bit of research prior to purchasing this unit and settled on this one. I am not a mechanic by trade, but I make every attempt at repairing my own vehicles in an effort to save money where I can. I am very pleased with the unit, and I am impressed with the vast array of functions and information it provides. I just used this to identify a faulty body control module on my 2015 GMC Sierra 3500. It was simple to use and the Wifi connection allows you to access additional information which it suggests on the fly. It arrived in perfect condition. I have just retired from GM on June 1st. Whenever I needed to diagnosis my personal vehicle, I used my OEM engineering tool. This tool was great but unfortunately, I had to return it on my last day of work. Wouldn’t you know it… my vehicle set a DTC. I had a 1990ish scan tool, but it was very obsolete. I needed a tool that would graph upstream and downstream 02 sensor voltages. Not a big challenge. I needed to do some research. I searched the internet for automotive scan tools comparisons until I found this Autel tool. It had a decent chip set, 4-core CPU. Decent RAM and ROM size and it was based on Android 11. I noticed a lot of other scan tools were using 5.2/7.0 Android operating system. The tool did what I expected (after the firmware up-date) it graphed both voltages. Interface was very intuitive. The tool helped me repair my problem. (No check engine light) I’m NOT a professional technician. I’m just a guy that that likes to work on his car. That being said, I will keep this tool. It has enough functionality for what I’ll be using it for. One last thing… I noticed that a lot of reviewers are complaining about the price for updates. I was a controller integration engineer. I had to write scripts to run DID, PID, and RID using the factory tools. Many of these DID change from Model Year to Model Year and new functionality arrives on the scene all the time.     • Next level in home diagnostics
The Autel MX808s for me, is the next step in DIY diagnostics for my cars. I've been using this in a 2013 BMW 335 and the Autel scans all ECUs and provides much more detail than my plain old code scanner. The Autel auto scans my VIN and recognizes what make, model, and year the scanner is connected to. There is a learning curve here, solely due to the large step up over a plain old code scanner. It also comes in a protective case, very impressive, I can see my friend's envy. The biggest reason I bought this scanner is the ability to program injector flow rates into my ECU. With modern direct injection engines, it's a matter of time before injectors need replacement. It's a relatively easy DIY provided you can program flow rates, which I can now do. I'm seriously impressed with this scanner and I HIGHLY recommend this model to anyone who does auto DIY repair and maintenance like I do. ... show more

    • Pleasantly surprised… easy to use and well priced.
I watched a few YouTube comparison videos before I bought this unit, along with a few other ones. Of the 3 units I tested, I found the Autel to be the best price & easy to use. Once the initial library software updates you’re ready to rock & roll. The GUI makes usage very easy to navigate. I tested it on various makes/models & years. I was impressed with the fact that it was able to scan& diagnose a 1995 HONDA as easily as it could a 2019 VW. Also, the customer service is great. Within a few days of receiving the scanner, they contacted me to offer device support & suggestions. My only gripe, in comparison to the other units, Autel offers the shortest interval between library software updates ( 1 year v 3 years). Though the cost for yearly software updates (beyond the initial) roughly work out to $0.34/day they DO NOT hinder operation of the unit. Obviously not a game changer for me but would’ve been a nice perk. All in all, a decent unit that is decently priced & will make vehicle diagnostics effortless for the DIY mechanic & professional alike. ... show more

I have a Ford 6.0l Powerstroke and this is one of the only scan tools that can do the injector contribution test (at the time of purchase) others have followed suit. But this is great!     • Easy to Use Car Scanner with Pro Features
This is the most advanced car scanner that I have used to date. The interface is clean and easy to use, especiallyafter you update the software/firmware. Plus, if you have any issues or questions, the Autel Customer Support Team is very helpful. I've already contacted them for technical questions I couldn't find an answer for online. Only downside, if you're working with older cars that use OBD1, or a hybrid of the 2 system, you'll need to pickup adapters. This kit will cover cars from 1996 to 2002: Autel MaxiSys MSOBD2KIT - This will have all the adapters. ASIN: B00PBIEKNO The adapters are sold individually at a lower price. For context, I was working on a 1998 Dodge RAM 2500 and the truck has an OBD2 port. The scanner could access and scan the system. The catch, in order to access the ABS system, I needed the Chrysler-16 adapter for the my MX808. ... show more

    • A good and easy diagnostic tool for a good price.
We purchased a Autel 2023 MX808S about 5 weeks ago on Amazon. Sofar it's working very well for us, we have always used Snap-on scanner in the past in my shop. This scanner works as good and in some cases better than others. We are still in progress of learning everything about this scanner, once we do we will have we will have a much better ideas.
