  • Comfort
Color: Black
I've played high tension for decades. The silky basses and medium brightness of the trembles of this package have won me over. Bravo.

  • Very Important When Putting These On: Don't use the loop they provide for the coiled strings.
Color: Black
I put on a new set of the Black strings a few days ago, and gave them time to stretch. I've been working on the Oriental by Granados, and noticed during the Lento that a very prominent G on the 5th string, 10th fret, was not sounding like a G. It was way off. They provide you with a loop on the coiled strings to tie them on the bridge. Suspecting this may have been causing the string to sound off, I removed and restrung it, using the traditional way of attaching it to the bridge. This solved the problem, which was a great relief, since I thought there was a problem with the guitar. It may be something that a lot of people already know, but if not, I hope this helps. ... show more

  • My favorite strings so far
I have been trying a lot of different string brands lately and I think that I have settled on this brand and set as my personal favorite, but I haven't tried my Savarez 520's yet. I am using an Antonio Arapicio guitar and am very impressed with the tone quality, volume, and pitch sensitivity that the Augustine Blue labels give me. Volume is definitely stronger than my D'Addario composite strings. With regards to pitch sensitivity, I struggled to keep intonation stable as I went higher on the fretboard with the treble strings when using the D'Addario composite strings and the Augustine Golds. Now that I have tried the Augustine Blue Label I think I managed to find that perfect match for my favorite guitar and all of my intonation issues have gone away. I only have two complaints about the product: - The G string feels a little dead compared to the other strings (a common issue with nearly all strings in my opinion) - The D string that was shipped with my second pack of Augustines was cut a way too short which created additional difficulty in stringing the guitar. There was literally nothing left to trim when I was done stringing the D string. My other Augustine Gold strings did not have this problem so I suspect this was a one-time issue. All in all, I am enjoying these strings. Of course, just because they feel perfect for my guitar doesn't mean they are perfect for all guitars. ... show more

  • My string choice preference
Color: Black
I wish they would attach tiny labels to each individual string, rather than place two strings in 3 paper envelopes. Easier, and less waste, but- not a deal breaker, since the strings themselves are my favorite. I'd been using D'Addario steel strings on steel stringed instruments (and continue to), so initially I used theirs for classical guitars as well. It's personal preference but these sound better to my ears. They make medium and high tension strings as well, and while using those might perk up the fidelity even more, I think that for myself and my approach, not having a bit of give via the tension would be be missed. The wound strings do seem to wear out just a bit faster than other makes, but most people change out strings more frequently than I do..I've always disliked the task! The only complaint I'd log is that these have taken a pretty steep price hike since my last purchase...which I hope is temporary. ... show more

  • Work fairly well.
Color: Classic Blue
These work fairly well. I wouldn't say they last considerably longer than other top brands. Sound good.
