  • An improvement over the TV's speaker
I got this for my new 32" Samsung TV. While not having the hi-fi stereo quality of the built-in speakers of my 20 year old brick of a TV, it is an improvement over the new TV's speaker. The main improvement is having the speaker face me and not the wall - I don't need the volume as high and I don't feel like I'm disturbing the neighbors through the wall. With the sound bar, the high frequencies are not as sharp or as shrill as with the TV's speaker. There are mid-range sounds, but very little true bass sounds. However, this is still an improvement over the TV. With the TV volume turned up or using any of the TV's enhancement settings, the mid-range sounds were reverberant, muddling everything, and the "bass" was an atonal honking noise. With the sound bar, all frequencies that are transmitted are tight and clean and speech is much clearer, even at lower volumes. I have the soundbar connected with a HDMI cable so that it operates via my TV and Comcast remotes. The soundbar's remote and settings are difficult to understand. The indicator lights inside the front grill are hard to read and only give "Eq" setting numbers. I only think I hear a subtle difference in sound between the settings - voices seem clearer on the "news" and "movie" settings, but I don't hear a difference between the other settings or bass levels. Once I figured out how to use it, I do hear a difference between "3D" (surround sound) and "no3D." But it's hard to know if "bass" is on at the same time as any of the other settings, why there are separate "bass +" and "bass -" buttons or if only one setting is operating at a time. After reading another review, I looked at the label on the back of the soundbar and, sure enough, it says "40W" not the advertised "60W". I also took a flashlight and looked into the front grill and did see oval speakers on each end and circular speakers next to them. They do seem to have separate sound outputs, but at only 16" total width, it's hard to tell. I have the soundbar on the table surface in front of the TV and its height comes to about 1.5 inches above the screen's lower edge. Because the cable connections project out from the back of the soundbar, higher than the lower edge of the TV screen, the soundbar needs to be a little in front of the screen, and not flush with the screen, to allow the cables to fall below the screen. These are minor issues. I have noticed that if I happen to touch the soundbar while it's on, static electricity mysteriously turns it off and I have to return to the TV's sound setup page to restore it (or use the soundbar's remote?). Weird. Overall, 4 stars for sound quality, relative ease of setup and use and at a good price. It's an improvement over the TV's speaker for speech and daily use, but not for listening to or watching musicals. For that I'd need something offering more "hi-fi." ... show more

  • Works well as described
Needed a smaller sound bar for a wall mounted 32 inch TV. I started to have sound problems with the TV and the video worked fine. Adding a sound bar was the solution. Needed one that could be wall mounted or use brackets below the TV. This was in a bedroom so didn't have to be perfect. Typical audio sounds better then the TV speakers but not much bass. Used optical as this was an older TV and it works great. ... show more

  • Sound Bar
This sound bar is pretty good considering it was the least expensive one offered on Amazon. However, getting useful information from the seller on how to set up the sound bar to provide surround sound using the optic cable was impossible. I contacted them 3 times because the instructions in the user manual was pretty worthless concerning using the optic cable sent with the sound bar and all 3 times they danced around the question and never gave me an answer as to how to use surround sound using the optic cable. Apparently the seller doesn't know how to set it up either. So if you are not very tech savvy then you might be in the same shape I am if you want to use all of the features of this item. But for every day sound for the TV, it is good. UPDATE: Finally received a response from the manufacturer about how to set up the sound bar and I hope I can figure out what I need to do to get this thing working! ... show more

  • Small..but mighty
First...it took me less than 10 minutes to set up. Plugged in the power...connected an HDMI cable from the Sound Bar, to the TV..turned the TV speakers to 'off'...enabled HDMI on Sound Bar...and that was it! What a difference having the sound coming forward!! I just got an Insignia 43 inch TV, so now I have better viewing, and better sound. I didn't want to spend $80..$90...$100+ for a sound bar. I don't need dozens of different sound settings. I like the small size...the great sound...and the great price! ... show more

  • YOU NEED TO READ THIS FIRST! Not bad for a small sound bar, but
Edit 5 July 22: Why am I amending my review? I have been contacted by "David" who offered me a bribe to delete my review, because "This has a huge impact on our later sales of products, so we hope you can delete the comments." Well, no, David, I will not. I offered you the chance to withdraw your attempt at assailing my character and impinging on my ethics with a $20 bribe. You or your agents failed to do so. As promised, I am now taking action and have notified Amazon. Not fire tv compatible. Hooked up optically, no issues. I just donโ€™t want extra remote controls. Fix this, stars will increase. ... show more

  • Perfect for my 27" monitor
Took me a while to configure it. I have HDMI into AOC monitor and I was using the headphone jack on my laptop as sound out to AUX in source, couldn't figure out what the the sound port on monitor was for. LOL it's HDMI sound out to AUX on the sound bar. Soundbar works OK, nothing to get excited about. ... show more

  • Good value
The set up of this unit was not as easy as the write up or the booklet let on. Firstly, could not get the optic cable to work. Did not come with either batteries for the remote or an HMDI cable... but for the money, the sound is pretty good and is not a huge monstrosity hanging off the wall.
