Description
The AT2035 Cardioid Condenser Microphone Bundle from Audio-Technica features a side-address design and can be used in critical home, project, or professional studio applications as well as live performances. The microphone offers a cardioid polar pattern for minimal feedback and off-axis noise. The element and output stage combine to produce a smooth yet natural audio quality with low noise. There is an 80 Hz high-pass filter switch for eliminating low frequency hum and other associated noises, and a -10 dB pad switch provides more headroom when capturing transient signals that may otherwise cause peak distortion. The microphone also includes a threaded adapter, and a protective pouch, Pop filter and a XLR-XLR Cable

I buy the things I review, I never trade positive reviews for free stuff. This is an amazing microphone for an equally amazing price. I've been a fan of Audio Technica microphones since the mid 1970's. Their products are not following fads, they are innovative and quality for reasonable prices. In my studio I have many microphones that sell for over $1200, I've owned several U-87 and I've built some of my own large diaphragm microphones so I'm familiar with the beasts with over 50 years of recording and pro sound experience under my belt. This Audio Technica model has the largest diaphragm of the whole AT line regardless of price. Diaphragm size wise you can't really compare it to the top two most expensive AT models since those use completely different diaphragm construction. Of the microphones that AT offers with traditional LDC construction this one has the largest of them all yet it's one of their lowest price models. I have an AT 4047 which cost about four times as much as this AT2035 and while the more expensive model does have a slightly different sound I can't say it's really better. I've recorded the same vocal using both and often I prefer the AT2035 because it has a bit smoother response, a little less bright above 5K. The AT2035 is really a very balanced and excellent sounding microphone, I will probably buy another one so I have a stereo pair. Interested in how the size of the diaphragms stack up? AT2020 = .63" AT2035 = .96" AT2050 = .80" AT4033 = .45" AT4040 = .80" AT4047 = .84" AT4050 = .84" So there you go, the AT2035 wins the size competition and it's an excellent sounding microphone for a seriously bargain price. This microphone compares very favorably with my vintage AKG 414B-ULS microphones, very smooth frequency response. The shock mount that comes with the AT2035 is very tight, makes it a little difficult to get the mic in and out, this mic slips right into the shock mount that came with my AT4047 so it's easy to switch back and forth between the two for different vocal tracks. As a side note, the AT2020 is another incredible deal, it's very low priced compared to other professional microphones but it does not disappoint in sound quality. I have several of those which I use for mic'ing up my 4x12 Marshall cabinets, l love the clear and even sound these microphones have. I own several MXL LDC microphones which always need work to sound great, I've replaced the diaphragms in five MXL 2001 and use these on drum toms. I wish I'd known how good these low priced AT microphones sounded before going down that path, the AT2035 makes an excellent tom tom microphone too and it's all done, you don't need to spend an afternoon disassembling mic's and soldering fragile expensive components. The diaphragms I installed in my MXL mic's cost as much as a done AT2035, save yourself the work and get the AT. Highly recommended! Good music to all!

I'm a singer-songwriter (TATYAYA on YouTube) and I like the way I sound with this AT2035 -- much better than Rode NT1-A which is an over-hyped mic to newbies. The Rode NT1-A has a frequency boost at 100-200 that will cause what sounds like a low hum from your guitar, and it also boosts the high frequencies too much so your voice sounds brittle on the Rode NT1-A. The AT2035 has a nice meaty sound without overemphasizing any range of frequencies-- don't believe me? Then google the two Frequency Response Charts fo the two mics. BUT, for home recording, consider bypassing condenser microphones and getting quality dynamic mics like the: --Shure SM7b (for voice) -- Electrovoice ND 468 (for guitar Dynamics 1) cost less, 2) have much better rejection of room/outside noise, 3) are more durable, 4) less sensitive to humidity, 5) less sibilance (the S sounds) and 6) less plosives (the P and B sounds) If you want a condenser mic for home recording, I think the AT2035 is a great value. But, it will pick up all the cars passing by, the air conditioner, the cat's meow, the couple arguing two doors down, etc. After recording many songs on the Rode NT1-A, I switched to the AT2035 for some songs, and the Shure SM7B / EV 468 combo others. If you want to hear what I'm talking about regarding the Rode NT1-A, listen to some of my earlier songs on YouTube: TATYAYA It will be worth your time if you are buying a mic for home recording. Good luck and have fun. Remember, it really is not about the gear, but the heart and emotion you put in to your song. You will NOT be disappointed with the AT2035, and I predict you will like it not just for the price, but as probably the best value condenser mic you can buy.

Fantastic sounding mic, moderately discriminant and directional, with a great shock mount. My mic arm is connected to the same surface that houses my computer. Many mics, even shock mounted mics, pick up a small amount of fan vibration because of this. This shock mount cleans theses vibrations to an undetectable level. Tested by connecting the mic to the arm. It definitely picks up the vibration without the shock mount. Really great reproduction for men with a full spectrum voice. Translates the low end of the male voice as well as the mid and high so you don't sound like a screeching child. The XLR cable is satisfactory and just what you would expect. The pop filter is large with full coverage. Maybe even too large, and also what you would expect. Since I do audio/video, my mic is often visible, so I only use the pop filter for strong audio only voice-overs. My pop solution for this mic is the last few inches of a black, sheer stocking/legging in children's size. I simply cut off the end and stretched it over the mic screen. With a little care, it is nearly undetectable on video and performs well enough for an advanced microphone user.

The mic is fantastic. Works perfectly fine, beautiful quality. Comes with a nice decent sized cord, with a pretty huge (and actually too heavy) pop-filter, and a great shock-mount. The pop-filter was the biggest disappointment in this package, as if you mount it on your stand, in front of your mic, it will just droop in front of it, and lower to below the mic. Make the slightest movement, and there it goes. Gravity also brings it down eventually. It's also very large. The pop-filter is about twice the size of the mic, which is unnecessary. I recommend getting a "around-mic" pop-filter, as it's much smaller, and easier to keep on the mic. Although, that's just a piece of the package. Everything else with it is supremely well.
