Had it for a little over a week now. It's been great, no issues. Music sounds good through it. 1) I installed the Audeze software on Windows. The initial update was kinda slow and scary (I'm paranoid about bricking HW) but there were zero issues, just had to be patient, and afterwards everything worked perfectly. 2) The voice that narrates settings (like "power on", "power off") has a volume setting in the Audeze program. There's also a 10 band EQ with presets, for me a must-have. 3) I only used it with PC, not bluetooth or game consoles. 4) My coworkers said the microphone is clear. I don't plug in the mic extender thing when at work. It's super comfortable to just have on the headset. 5) It's not too heavy, at least not for me. The clamping force and pads are really comfortable. They have some kind of gel that jiggles when you set it on the desk too, which is entertaining. 6) Battery life has been good so far, never ran out on me and I charge it once every one or two days. 7) Compared to the Arctis 7P that I came from, it doesn't seem to have a hardware mute button. I miss that extra layer of safety. But I haven't explored all the settings / button capabilities yet. 8) Minor ding: The secondary button on the left can is placed so that it gets pressed when I pick it up, which then tweaks some AI noise reduction setting. Just something that happens by accident, not a big deal.

I picked these up specifically for Arc Raiders. Originally I was going to grab the original Maxwell, but the buzzing sidetone issue on the first version is well documented, and when I saw the Maxwell 2 had just launched with that addressed, I jumped. Here’s how it went. Starting with the good, because there’s a lot of it. The build quality is fantastic. Real metal throughout, and it feels like a piece of gear you could hand down to your grandkids. Sound quality is genuinely audiophile level. For online shooters, the separation is some of the best I’ve heard, full stop. Footsteps, directional cues, gunfire, voice chat, nothing ever gets muddled even when a fight gets chaotic. The earcups are huge and actually cup my ears rather than squishing them, which contributes to that sense of open space around the sound. You know the feeling, where the audio has room to breathe. Mic quality is excellent too, and the 2.4 GHz dongle paired with my PS5 Pro without any hassle. Non-negotiable feature for me, and it works flawlessly. Now the problems. That beautiful metal construction comes with a cost. These things are heavy. Boat anchor heavy. Within 30 minutes of putting them on, my neck and the top of my head were genuinely sore. I’ve seen the photos of people whose skulls have been reshaped by headset abuse over years, and I started to feel like mine was getting a head start after one gaming session. The widened headband helps with distribution, but it doesn’t change the fundamental physics of strapping over half a kilogram to your skull. No active noise cancellation, just passive isolation. I didn’t need cancellation, but worth knowing if you’re shopping. The thing I couldn’t get past was the sidetone. Because they isolate so well without actively canceling, you get that “voice in your own head” sensation when you talk. I updated firmware, cranked sidetone to max in the app, tried every configuration I could find. It was still quiet and muffled compared to what I wanted. On top of that, whatever is happening in the mic pickup puts a heavy emphasis on “S” sounds specifically. Every word with an S in it got fed back into my ears louder than the rest of my voice, and it made me weirdly self-conscious about how I was pronouncing things. You don’t realize how often you say S sounds until you’re hearing every single one of them bounce back at you. Normally I could live with imperfect sidetone, but I’m on prox chat and in coop voice constantly with friends, and hours of sibilant self-monitoring drove me up a wall. These are also pricey, which stings more when the headset ends up back in the box. I ended up swapping them for an even pricier option that was a very slight audio downgrade but came with actual noise cancellation, far better sidetone, and a dramatically lighter frame. For pure sound quality on a short listening or solo gaming session, the Maxwell 2 is genuinely extraordinary. For multi-hour coop with heavy voice chat, the weight and sidetone made them a nonstarter for me. Your mileage will vary depending on how you play and how much you talk. If only the sidetone was better, I’d honestly have pushed past the weight and head pain for the audio quality. Not a bad headset. Just not the right one for my specific setup.

I just bought it and upgraded from a Corsair virtuoso headset and in terms of sound as a layman person I think it is much better and I don't have any connectivity problems. I really enjoy the rich base which I thought I was getting from the Corsair but it's much clearer on this one. The headset construction is pretty heavy and feels sturdy and awesome but it's not something I would call light. I personally don't find it burdensome and I have a big head and most of the way is equally distributed across the flexible band and not just the actual bar of the headset so you're not going to get a indent. No one has complained about my mic and I really like it, if I'm being nitpicky it doesn't really like to say perfectly in one spot but that doesn't seem to affect anything and I don't really find it falling down I just have to fiddle with it sometimes. The software is awesome and refined, I don't know how to put it but it doesn't seem gimmicky or colorful it's just exactly what it's supposed to be. There is no hardware noise canceling but they utilize AI combined with the ample cushy cups that go over your ear I can hardly hear anything which is my goal so that's awesome. You can also set it up to take in sound and hear more if you would like. Tldr: it's a weighty headset with refined crisp audio that sounds deeper and richer than my previous Corsair virtuoso. It doesn't feel cheap at all and I don't have any connection issues. The range is also really good on the Bluetooth if that matters to you.

I wanted to love this headset. For over $300, I expected a premium experience, and in many ways the sound quality is incredible. Unfortunately, none of that matters when there is a constant white noise coming from the headset whenever it’s powered on. I initially thought I had received a defective unit, so I went through the hassle of getting a replacement. The replacement has the exact same issue. Sidetone is off, the firmware is up to date, and I’ve tested it over USB, wireless, and Bluetooth. The hiss is always there. This isn’t just something you notice in a silent room. I can still hear it while watching YouTube videos with people talking. Once you hear it, it’s impossible to ignore. For a product at this price, that’s simply unacceptable. I’m incredibly disappointed because the drivers themselves sound fantastic, but a premium headset shouldn’t have a constant background hiss. If this is normal behavior, Audeze needs to address it. If it isn’t, their quality control has serious problems. For a company known for high-end audio, I expected excellence. Instead, I spent hundreds of dollars and two RMAs chasing a problem that never went away. If you’re sensitive to background noise, I’d think twice before buying this headset.

OMG these are so heavy!!! 560g is insane, that’s more than the AirPod pro max(386g), and more than 2x the writhe of Sony wireless headphones, (250g). The mice quality is fantastic, the audio is like no other set of headphones I own. Nice software, simple but effective, doesn’t need a lot of fussing around with. I was hoping to use these for another set of reference headphones or just have some casual listening time, but they hurt after an hour or so, maybe I’ll get used to it eventually. I’m keeping them, but man oh man, a pound and a quarter is a lot. I do a little audio work so I put a lot of value in having a wide collection different sounding speakers and headphones, these double dip since they simplify audio in/out for those rare few nights playing games with old friends on top of being nice unique drivers, but if I wasn’t so into headphones I would send them back. I like them, but I’d have a have a hard time recommending them

the Audeze Maxwell line is genuinely in a different class from most gaming headsets, especially if you care about durability, long sessions, and sound quality. Given my preferences for sturdy, comfortable, long-lasting headsets, the Maxwell II seems like a very strong fit because it combines: 1). Planar magnetic drivers, which usually give cleaner detail, tighter bass, and lower distortion than typical dynamic-driver gaming headsets. 2). Long battery life, which is a major quality-of-life upgrade. 3). Low-latency wireless support, useful for gaming without feeling disconnected from the action. 4). A more premium build, which matches anyone's preference for durable gear rather than lightweight plastic headsets. Good comfort for extended use, especially if you do not mind headset weight as much as long-term sturdiness and comfort. (for me, I don't notice weight, they feel pretty good for me). 5). Compared to other headset brands, the Maxwell II is more of a high-end audiophile/gaming hybrid: better sound resolution, stronger bass control, and a more premium overall feel. There is still solid mainstream gaming headset, but it is a matter of personal preference, but the Maxwell II is the kind of headset that can make music, movies, and games all feel noticeably upgraded.

Best headset I've ever used. I am not an audiophile, I just like good quality. Admittedly, these are heavy and big. However, the sound they produce is incredible. The software that comes with is everything you need and nothing you don't. Enough customization to make it the way you want but not enough to be silly. The onboard controls are intuitive and simple. The battery life is wild. I haven't needed to charge it since I bought the headset, I feel like it will last a year. The USB c dongle is perfect, the Bluetooth is excellent with my phone, and the handoff between the two smooth enough for me. I will admit that I bought replacemen, aftermarket earpads that are much, much cooler as they are a bit more vented. This suits my needs more, I use my headset on a racing sim and I really don't want my ears getting hot. Wouldn't buy another headset!

I spent hours and hours researching the best wireless headphones for gaming. These are them. The sound quality is superb and the battery life is unmatched. They are slightly heavy but the headband is wide and does not provide any pain after long gaming sessions, 3+ hours. The USB-C attachment is a bit buggy and making my voice robotic to others and required me to use the USB-C to USB-A adapter to bypass this issue. Occasionally, the Audeze Drivers bug out and requires me to re-seat the USB adapter and that fixes it. Other than that, I have loved these and the comfort and quality is unmatched for the price.
