Solid wireless headset+mic
Had it for a little over a week now. It's been great, no issues. Music sounds good through it. 1) I installed the Audeze software on Windows. The initial update was kinda slow and scary (I'm paranoid about bricking HW) but there were zero issues, just had to be patient, and afterwards everything worked perfectly. 2) The voice that narrates settings (like "power on", "power off") has a volume setting in the Audeze program. There's also a 10 band EQ with presets, for me a must-have. 3) I only used it with PC, not bluetooth or game consoles. 4) My coworkers said the microphone is clear. I don't plug in the mic extender thing when at work. It's super comfortable to just have on the headset. 5) It's not too heavy, at least not for me. The clamping force and pads are really comfortable. They have some kind of gel that jiggles when you set it on the desk too, which is entertaining. 6) Battery life has been good so far, never ran out on me and I charge it once every one or two days. 7) Compared to the Arctis 7P that I came from, it doesn't seem to have a hardware mute button. I miss that extra layer of safety. But I haven't explored all the settings / button capabilities yet. 8) Minor ding: The secondary button on the left can is placed so that it gets pressed when I pick it up, which then tweaks some AI noise reduction setting. Absolutely Superb Performance and a Quality Headset, bar none!!!!!!!!!!!!
the Audeze Maxwell line is genuinely in a different class from most gaming headsets, especially if you care about durability, long sessions, and sound quality. Given my preferences for sturdy, comfortable, long-lasting headsets, the Maxwell II seems like a very strong fit because it combines: 1). Planar magnetic drivers, which usually give cleaner detail, tighter bass, and lower distortion than typical dynamic-driver gaming headsets. 2). Long battery life, which is a major quality-of-life upgrade. 3). Low-latency wireless support, useful for gaming without feeling disconnected from the action. 4). A more premium build, which matches anyone's preference for durable gear rather than lightweight plastic headsets. Good comfort for extended use, especially if you do not mind headset weight as much as long-term sturdiness and comfort. (for me, I don't notice weight, they feel pretty good for me). 5). Compared to other headset brands, the Maxwell II is more of a high-end audiophile/gaming hybrid: better sound resolution, stronger bass control, and a more premium overall feel. Incredible sound, but the weight and sidetone sent them back
I picked these up specifically for Arc Raiders. Originally I was going to grab the original Maxwell, but the buzzing sidetone issue on the first version is well documented, and when I saw the Maxwell 2 had just launched with that addressed, I jumped. Here’s how it went. Starting with the good, because there’s a lot of it. The build quality is fantastic. Real metal throughout, and it feels like a piece of gear you could hand down to your grandkids. Sound quality is genuinely audiophile level. For online shooters, the separation is some of the best I’ve heard, full stop. Footsteps, directional cues, gunfire, voice chat, nothing ever gets muddled even when a fight gets chaotic. The earcups are huge and actually cup my ears rather than squishing them, which contributes to that sense of open space around the sound. You know the feeling, where the audio has room to breathe. Mic quality is excellent too, and the 2.4 GHz dongle paired with my PS5 Pro without any hassle. Non-negotiable feature for me, and it works flawlessly. Now the problems. That beautiful metal construction comes with a cost. These things are heavy. Boat anchor heavy. Within 30 minutes of putting them on, my neck and the top of my head were genuinely sore. I’ve seen the photos of people whose skulls have been reshaped by headset abuse over years, and I started to feel like mine was getting a head start after one gaming session. The widened headband helps with distribution, but it doesn’t change the fundamental physics of strapping over half a kilogram to your skull. No active noise cancellation, just passive isolation. I didn’t need cancellation, but worth knowing if you’re shopping. The thing I couldn’t get past was the sidetone. Because they isolate so well without actively canceling, you get that “voice in your own head” sensation when you talk. I updated firmware, cranked sidetone to max in the app, tried every configuration I could find. It was still quiet and muffled compared to what I wanted. On top of that, whatever is happening in the mic pickup puts a heavy emphasis on “S” sounds specifically. Every word with an S in it got fed back into my ears louder than the rest of my voice, and it made me weirdly self-conscious about how I was pronouncing things. You don’t realize how often you say S sounds until you’re hearing every single one of them bounce back at you. Normally I could live with imperfect sidetone, but I’m on prox chat and in coop voice constantly with friends, and hours of sibilant self-monitoring drove me up a wall. These are also pricey, which stings more when the headset ends up back in the box. I ended up swapping them for an even pricier option that was a very slight audio downgrade but came with actual noise cancellation, far better sidetone, and a dramatically lighter frame. For pure sound quality on a short listening or solo gaming session, the Maxwell 2 is genuinely extraordinary. For multi-hour coop with heavy voice chat, the weight and sidetone made them a nonstarter for me. Your mileage will vary depending on how you play and how much you talk. If only the sidetone was better, I’d honestly have pushed past the weight and head pain for the audio quality. Not a bad headset. Just not the right one for my specific setup. ... show more

Quietest headphones I've ever owned
Amazing microphone quality for a wireless headset, great audio quality, amazing battery life. A bit heavy, a bit uncomfortable for long sessions, but I feel I could get used to that. Knocking off 3 stars because the headset is unbelievably quiet on dongle. On every computer I've tried it on, on the latest firmware, the headset at 100% volume is at most 50% volume of any other earbud or headset I've ever tried in my entire life. I've never found a headset more volume locked. I have done absolutely everything suggested by absolutely everyone online to no avail. And since a bunch of headphone junkies online also seem to be having the same exact problem, I'm going to doubt it's user error. I know it can go louder and sound better, it does it with Bluetooth. But if you want good quality audio with the USB dongle, you better be fine with half volume. Edit: I've switched my review to a 1 star instead of 2 because it turns out everything else good about the headset doesn't matter if it can't even get loud enough to listen to music comfortably. ... show more

One of the best pairs of headphones i own
Honestly a really good pair od headphones and while you CAN use the boom mic for better sound isolation honestly its not bad even without it, the audio is clear and if you download the app you can tune to rediculous levels. The noise isolation is phanominal. And the dials on the side are really nice tactile for headphones like this. Battery life is absurd, ive literally gone weeks without charging, and they charge FAST this coming from someone who was used to 2 hours of charging for 1 hour of listening going to "Wait... those were dead like ten minutes ago." While these werent on that level, honestly if they die, making and eating a meal probably gets you to a spot where you can charge overnight... durability is absolutely solid, honestly while it does add a bit to the weight coming to these of the pulse elites it honestly feels like the chances of them to break are zilch, zero, nada... The only thing that i think hurts these over something like the pulse elites is compatibility, there have been a couple of times i got disconnected from the dongle during play and unlike the pulse elites, these do not lwt you stream audio from your phone as your playing a game... itll do one or the other, but honestly? While they are expensive if your looking for your gaming headset thatll probably carry you for 3-5 years or beyond budget is allowed to stretch a bit, and these are those headphones for me. ... show more

I really wanted to like this headset
Great detail and build quality, but not enough bass for me. I really wanted to like this headset. The sound has impressive detail, and you can really hear the different layers in the audio. For FPS gaming, I can see why people would enjoy it, but I don’t really play FPS games, so it wasn’t the right fit for me. My biggest issue is the lack of bass. If you want to feel the music, explosions, and cinematic moments in games, you’re probably not going to get that experience with this headset. I mainly wanted a headset for sound quality, not chatting or playing with other people. Since I don’t have a good sound system at home, I was looking for a great pair of headphones that could deliver an immersive,” cinematic “experience, especially for single-player story games. Unfortunately, this headset didn’t give me that feeling. The sound is detailed and precise, but for my taste, it lacks that deep, powerful, cinematic sound that makes music, movies, and story-driven games more enjoyable. I think competitive FPS gamers will be very satisfied with this headset, especially those who prioritize hearing footsteps and subtle details in the game. However, for single-player story games, it wasn’t enough for me. I wanted more bass, impact, and immersion. The headset is heavy, and my ears get very, very hot. I played with it during the summer, and the heat became a real problem. After extended gaming sessions, it wasn’t very comfortable. The battery life is impressive. That’s definitely one of the strengths of this headset. The build quality is also excellent. It feels solid, well-constructed, and built to last. I have no complaints about the quality of the construction. Bluetooth multipoint is limited , which is a disadvantage if you want to connect to multiple devices and play them at the same time. If you’re a competitive FPS gamer who prioritizes sound positioning and subtle audio details, this headset might be a great choice. But if you’re looking for deep bass, powerful explosions, music that you can really feel, and an immersive cinematic experience for single-player story games, I don’t think this headset is the right fit. Not worth anywhere near what it’s asking
Product sounds great on wired mode but has constant glitching and cutout when in dongle mode and I tried PlayStation and PC and experienced the same thing in dongle mode and eliminated the issue by plugging it in. The Main purpose of this is for wireless convenience, can’t recommend for this absurd price a product that only performs when plugged in with type c USB ... show more

Best Gaming Headset I’ve Ever Owned
I’ve been really impressed with the Audeze Maxwell 2. The sound quality is excellent, with a lot of detail and really good separation between different sounds. I mainly use them on PS5, and with 3D Audio enabled, the positional audio in games like Battlefield is amazing. I can hear footsteps clearly, tell what direction enemies are coming from, and sometimes hear them before they even peek. The headset also has great bass without overpowering everything else, and the EQ customization makes it easy to fine-tune the sound exactly how you want it. Battery life has also been great, and the wireless connection has been solid. I did have an issue with the iOS app after a firmware update, but Audeze support confirmed it was a known software issue, and the following app update fixed it completely. The headset itself continued to work great the entire time. Overall, these are easily some of the best gaming headphones I’ve used. They sound incredible, the imaging is excellent, and they make games feel much more immersive. Definitely worth it. ★★★★★ ... show more
