I ordered these flag holders to secure a legal dive flag to the bimini top on my Yamaha boat. While they serve the purpose, I later discovered better whip flag holder options after additional research. Despite being extremely sturdy, bulky and durable, there's a design flaw in which one big screw is used to clamp the holder and hold the position of the flag at the same time. This design requires tightening that one screw significantly to prevent the flag from moving, but at the same time the excessive clamping force could damage the underlying pole. Also, any additional adjustments to the flag position would require a durable key with a good handle. A better design approach would involve using serrated notches or pins to secure the flag's position, which is the case with some other whip flag holders. With a serrated notch design, screws wouldn't need to be so excessively tightened, reducing the risk of damage to the pole while ensuring the flag remains securely in place and also allow for easy flag repositioning.
