  • Atoto A5L Is an underrated titan for the price point
I purchased the ATOTO A5L for a custom audio system and can confidently say this unit offers tuning capabilities and control that are completely unrivaled at its price point. It quickly secured a place as a necessary component in my system. The Audio Tuning is World-Class. For anyone building a complex, externally-amplified system, the A5L absolutely bonkers and it's precision amd controls typically found only in high-end external Digital Signal Processors (DSPs). Surgical Crossover: The 3-way crossover controls on this unit are exceptionally detailed, allowing for tuning accuracy down to 1 Hz adjustments. This level of granular control is crucial for blending subwoofers and midranges perfectly and is superior to much more expensive head units. Deep EQ Control: The built-in equalizer provides deep parametric control that allows serious audio enthusiasts to dial in their sound with great precision. Acoustic Control: Features like Time Alignment and Phase Control allow you to correct acoustic issues in the cabin and create a perfect soundstage. The Honest Catch (Why It’s So Affordable) To be fully transparent, the A5L is a budget unit and has key trade-offs to achieve this price. Processor Speed: The A5L is based on a slower processor which can feel sluggish compared to modern flagship units. Pre-Out Voltage & Stability: The unit typically provides lower pre-out voltage (around 2V). This compromises its stability in high-demand, high-power environments, leading to a much higher noise floor and the signal easily becoming overwhelmed when the system is pushed hard. The A5L is an unbeatable value for money. If you can tolerate it being a little bit sluggish every now and then this unit will serve you extraordinarily well. if there's anything better on the market than this for the price, I have not seen it in the long list of units I've tried and they even longer list of research. The A5L is an astonishing unit at its price point. However, if you are looking for the absolute best performance for a multi-amp system, where speed, stability, and high-channel architecture are paramount, the ATOTO X10 is the professional choice. The X10 offers a dramatically faster processor, a clean 5V signal, and a superior 10-channel pre-out system. (supporting fully active 3-way setups plus center, tweet, mid, and subs). The A5L is the perfect budget unit; the X10 is the necessary upgrade for competition-level systems. ... show more

  • Good budget option! Good budget option!
I installed this head unit in a 2002 Ford Ranger. For context, I have installed aftermarket head units in 3 of my other vehicles, 2 of which have Android Auto support. I installed an Atoto head unit in one of my other cars about 5 years ago and I was not impressed by it. It advertised having Android Auto, when in reality it was just mirroring the screen via a third party app. I used it as a regular bluetooth radio for about 2 years until the bluetooth functionality quit working. I decided to pick this unit up for my Ranger because I've heard that Atoto has really improved their quality in the last 5 years, and it was priced very competitively. Installation went fairly smooth. The wiring harness that came with the radio was high quality and well labeled. I had no issues connecting it to the new vehicle harness. I had to do a lot of trimming to my surround piece to make the radio fit, but that's a Ford problem and not an Atoto problem. After trimming the surround, the stereo fit perfectly flush and looks great. Setup was fairly straight forward. My only complaint was that it didn't come with a physical manual, just a QR code on the box that sent you to their website. I was able to get Android Auto working after a bit of tinkering. After a bit of testing, I would say what impressed me the most was the sound quality and the snappiness of the display. It felt very responsive and quick which is nice. It has a lot of extra functionality with the apps that come preinstalled, but honestly they probably won't get used. I just wanted something for music and GPS navigation which this seems like it can handle without any problems. I also like that this came bundled with a rear view camera, so eventually I'll get that hooked up as well. In summary, I'd say this is a good purchase compared to a lot of other similarly priced options you'll see on Amazon. Atoto has been around for a bit now, so I feel more confident that if I run into an issue, I'll be able to reach out for support. The unit feels well built and the software feels good to use. I'll definitely have to do some more testing and see how it lasts, but for now I'm happy with it. ... show more

  • Customer Support is great
Customer support saved this. My first unit did not work. It would not connect to my phone properly. Not show back up camera and also freeze up a few times a within a song. I sent an email to the company and right away they attempted some trouble shooting with me. After a few attempts they called it defective and send me a new one. So now the new one is in and no issues. Back up camera looks good. Android play works fine. Sound is ok. It does have, too much going on. There's alot of futures on this unit. Could connect to the internet using your phones blue tooth. Has YouTube and Spotify loaded up. Apparently you can download Netflix and other apps. But they are slow, dont load up properly. I'd rather have a good mirror app and use my phone. The current mirror app is also laggy But using it as a regular radio for Bluetooth and back up camera. Its great. ... show more

  • Atoto is an amazing budget brand
This thing is crisp and clear. It looks and sounds very good, especially for its price. I hate that American products are always limiting us. I own an Alpine 7” touch screen that costs $350, and it doesn’t do half the things this radio can do. Sure, alpine has better quality, but in all honesty, the quality on this thing is good enough that I’d prefer to buy it. It moves seamlessly and has wireless everything. I purchased the F7 10” model a couple years ago, and I love it. That’s why when my nephew was looking for a budget radio and almost bought a different brand, I told him to get this one. Let me tell you, this newer model makes my F7 look like a knockoff. This thing is amazing. 29 band EQ, built in crossover, time correction, and some other feature I’m not even familiar with. Wireless Car Play, Android auto, and now even wireless mirror link! My current F7 doesn’t even have wireless mirror link. Then you add in all of the apps, as well as the ability to download more apps. Watch videos directly from the YouTube app, connect via WiFi, etc. This model also has the ability to use manual SWC programming for analog controls or use an adapter for digital controls. It’s not my radio, so I haven’t even begun to discover all of its features, but what I’ve seen so far is highly impressive. For those who feel like the volume isn’t that great, there are very few radios that will produce loud volume without adding an amplifier. This one does 24 watts RMS per channel, the more expensive brands usually does 45 watts RMS per channel. It’s a little louder, but considering that most people will buy aftermarket speakers anyway, that’s pretty irrelevant. These aftermarket’s can usually handle 125 watts and more per speaker. Heck, with my Alpine setup, I went with the R series across the board - about 125 watts or so. My radio couldn’t handle the draw and would flicker at about 60% volume level. I HAD to add an amp just to be able to enjoy the $500 worth of speakers I bought. Other than that, I would mention that this unit does not come with an external mic, though it does have the input for it. I was a bit disappointed, as I thought I saw a mic when ordering it but went back and realized it doesn’t come with one. Not enough to give a bad rating, but something to note. The clarity of the built-in mic is very good, but the volume fades away very easy if the person talking isn’t very close to the head unit. It becomes almost impossible to make out what they’re saying. So I’d highly recommend to get an external mic when purchasing this unit. The instructions are very basic and minimal, but there is a QR code that gives access to their page with a lot more instructions and even more products to add on, such as a front dash cam that plugs directly to the unit. If you’ve installed radios before, this one will be a breeze. If this will be your first install, you may get a little confused just because of the language translation, but it’s not difficult at all. The SWC may be the only confusing part if you’re trying to bypass the adapter. Overall, I give 5 stars to this unit and recommend the purchase. ... show more

  • Good but not for Android auto
Overall, the head unit and accessories work well and I'm happy enough with it, but the Android auto is unusable. Android auto is an advertised feature but the head unit does not have the performance to run their "zlink" app. It can't even play music when it's running. So if you're expecting to use Android auto, do not buy. If you just want to use standard bluetooth connectivity or use the native music/etc apps then it's good. I read that ATOTO is a good brand, but they can't be trusted if they advertise features that aren't usable. ... show more

  • A great budget friendly headunit with navigation! A great budget friendly headunit with navigation!
I will preface this first part of the review with the fact that i sold and installed car stereos for over a decade in the 2000's. That being said I was really impressed with how much technology they were able to fit into a headunit of this size (depth). I would say the depth on this is a quarter of what the factory headunit was and maybe 1/3 of the Atoto it was replacing from 2020 (Old unit was still working fine, I just wanted an upgrade) I included a picture with the New unit on the left and the old Atoto unit on the right. With it being so thin it was a breeze to install this into my Tacoma's dash. On top of that I was able to integrate the factory steering wheel controls of the Tacoma into this headunit without the need for any type of "little black box." I didn't end up using the included camera as I was able to utilize the factory camera with the use of a Metra wire harness designed for this. After the past week of using the headunit I would say I'm very happy with it. The interface has been very quick and responsive and the setup of the features such as the "mapping" of the steering wheel controls was very simple. I was able to easily connect my phone to the unit via bluetooth or USB. The only thing that i had an issue with was the screen mirroring. It really is not the fault of the headunit, but if you want to use the functionality, you do need a cellular plan that allows for tethering of the phone. I did not have this so i was unable to use this feature at least for the time being (Unless I wanted to change my cell plan). The app they have you use on your phone for the tethering feature does have ads on it which was a little annoying when i was trying to get this to work, but im guessing there would be a paid version of the app without ads. While I wasn't able to use the mirroring function, I think the Android Auto software completely makes up for it. The Android Auto GUI makes the Navigation and audio functionality a breeze. Again, the interface is quick and responsive and the display is easy to read and navigate even in sunlight. To sum this Atoto unit up so far: Pros: Ease of installation due to size Ease of setting up extra functionality like camera and steering wheel controls Android Auto software looks great and is easy to operate Sound quality and control of sound with the adjustable EQ Cons: Screen mirror requires cellular plan that includes tethering mirroring app has ads All in all, this has a been a great headunit so far given the insanely inexpensive price. If you have a double DIN sized opening in your vehicle and want a budget friendly upgrade from factory, this is really a no brainer. ... show more

  • Have no fear of ATOTO entertainment system. Have no fear of ATOTO entertainment system.
This is my 2nd ATOTO because they are a great value and work excellent, this replaced my factory 2008 GrandPrix. Wiring was clearly marked I soldered and shrink wrapped. The factory radio is easily removed after pulling the trim, GPS was routed to the left and placed on the dash. Testing before final mounting is always advised. The directions are clearly written and just work, I connected to WiFi, updated OS, installed additional apps, and configured my UI. The screen is bright, clear and the touch sensitivity is excellent. No issues with playing movies, or any other functions, sound is excellent and very configurable. Have no fear of ATOTO head units, ... show more

  • Junk from a company that will ghost you when it breaks.
Junk. I’ve always been wary of these android head units. Aftermarket car audio in general is pretty low quality nowadays - why risk it with some unknown “brand” that is made in the same factory as 70 other random alphabet brands. I’ve been watching Atoto for a couple of years now, and they seemed to put at least a little effort into crossing into the mainstream, so I sprang from an A5L to try it out. I’ve been putting in car audio for almost 40 years, and the first thing I noticed was the parts all look flimsy and cheap - but that’s ok, most of the real brands low to midrange stuff is just as cheap. Spent a lot more time then I’m used to getting it to line up with the dash kit, and then dug into getting it set up. The user interface is garbage. You basically have to hunt around to figure out all the features. But it does have a ton. I thought the 30 or however many band eq was really nice. You can make the worst set of speakers sound decent with this. CarPlay interface took some trial and error but eventually works through a third party app. The trouble began when I hooked up the steering wheel controls, which was a primary factor of why I decided to try it. It’s programmable, so if you’ve got an older non can-bus system it’ll work without an interface device. Hook up is simple. Except when I started trying the swc it would default to the broadcast radio screen. Problem is that it will not come out of the broadcast radio screen for more than a second before it defaults back to radio. No matter what you press it loops back to radio. I reset it, hard reset it, and took it off of power for days. The only way (maybe) to do a factory reset is through the main menu, which will only stay open for a second before it reverts to radio. Nice. Atoto support was very nice for a few days. Told me to do all the stuff that I’d already did, looked at a video I sent them of the issue, said they’d forward it to engineering and get back to me in a day. That was 8 days ago. I offered to send it back to them on my dime if they’d send a new unit, but they ghosted me. So Atoto is a no go for me. ... show more
