Difficult set up for this beginner. Definitely a learning curve.

I have never used a laser engraver before, but really wanted to try. This model looked to be more of an entry level, which I thought would be perfect to learn on. First off, assembly. This does come in several pieces, and does need assembled. There are instructions, but I found them difficult to follow and kept having to redo steps and half way take it apart. Normally, I do fine with instructions, but this was a challenge. After over an hour of putting it together, time to try it out. There is an app you can download to use with this engraver, and it will support other programs if you prefer to pay for a subscription to them. I opted for thr free ap offered by the manufacturer. Download went fine, but I had trouble getting the machine to connect. It would connect, then disconnect so I could not really get anywhere. I was using an Android tablet, and am not sure if a computer would work better or not. So, I have set it to the side and will have to do some research on how to use it all. And, you will need proper ventilation, so that is something you need to consider as well. Overall, if a beginner, these are not just easy machines to operate. But, with the issues with the software, it makes it difficult to use or learn.

For a beginner, it was a new experience trying to figure it all out. Price is good for a first timer like me to learn on. Assembly wasn't to bad. Quality isn't the best, but that's to be expected with this price range.

Good for the price

The ATOMSTACK Swift 7W is a decent entry-level laser engraver for anyone wanting to try out engraving and cutting without spending a fortune. Setup was a little challenging as a beginner because the instructions could definitely be clearer, and my package was also missing the advertised safety glasses/eye protection. Once everything was up and running though, the machine performed fairly well. It’s a bit slower when engraving or cutting, but the precision is still impressive for the price point. It’s a pretty good size and won’t take up too much space. As far as durability, I’ve had it for a bit now and have used it a few times, it seems to still be working just fine. Overall, it’s a good starter machine for hobby projects and a solid option if you’re testing out a new creative hobby on a budget.

Before I review this engraver/cutter, please know that the original description is incorrect in the following ways: -The mentioned "included safety glasses" are not included. While the protective cover helps, there is still laser light emitting from under/around it, and that is harmful for your eyes. So buy some safety glasses that are rated for this machines laser frequency. -The protective cover is not magnetic and it is not removable. This isn't really a problem, though. I have been using an Atomstack A5 Pro+ since early 2022, and it is a 5W laser. I do not see any difference in cutting/engraving speed using this Swift 7W, but it does have some features that I like better than my A5 Pro+. Those features include: -Limit switches! The A5 Pro+ doesn't have limit switches, and it is a pain setting up your 0,0 origin point. -Setting the focus distance is easier with their new system, instead of using a 2mm piece of plastic under the laser head and setting the tension with a thumb screw. -The laser head fan only turns on when the laser is in use. This makes it quieter when you are in setup or after a job completes. -Smaller power cable, and USB-C connection. -Price. The Atomstack A5 Pro+ was $379, discounted, when I purchased it. This Swift 7W is selling for $150, currently. I think this is a GREAT price for an entry level hobby laser, making it a great value for your money. Overall this is a great laser for getting started, and I highly recommend it. It is laser accurate / precise, and works great with Lightburn software, which I also highly recommend buying.

Might be good for a kids first laser, needs 2.4ghz wifi

We were unable to use this laser engraver for weeks because we don't use 2.4ghz wifi! So I had to get a wifi access point that still uses that old frequency band. The build I easy enough for a child to assemble, but feels super cheap. The blue rails are completely plastic. Additionally there was some reliability/unknown issue where the device would not even power on when the power button was turned on. I would skip this model due to it's low laser power, build quality and ancient wifi requirements.
