    • Great...When it works
I bought my ATN OTS-HD 640 in 2018. I'm a cave conservation professional and purchased the unit for detecting and recording bats. My use of the ATN is very seasonal, so it may sit for months at a time during the winter, but it is stored in my house in a climate controlled environment with the batteries out. After two multi-month storage sessions, the unit would not turn on. The first time the unit was still under warranty and ATN repaired the unit without any issues. It took several months for me to actually get the unit back, but overall that process was OK. It is now 2022 and the unit will not turn on again. This is a very expensive piece of equipment to have such poor reliability. I have a colleague that purchased a competitor's brand/model at the same time I bought mine, and he has had no issues whatsoever. Meanwhile, I have a very expensive paperweight. I cannot recommend this product and would not buy an ATN product again. ... show more

    • Great device
I have the 650 5-50 spotting scope version of this device, it is really remarkable. I have several other ATN products, one of the digital scopes and a newer thermal rifle scope and I am happy with all. Pros: - The image is crisp, you can spot and identify targets are remarkable range day or night. - Unit is easy to hold and scan with - The phone connectivity can let another person see the scope image at the same time which can help especially when "training" someone on how to differentiate targets with the thermal (i.e., that is a farm light 10 miles away not a feral hog standing very still on the stop of a hill or that is a cotton tail rabbit 10 feet away from you, not a giant animal 500 yard away ... both very common challenges for first time thermal spotters). - Price/performance - ATN pricing is super compared to the top brands in the space and the performance of the devices is comparable for my casual hunting purposes. I appreciate that this brings the thermal options into reach for many where the super high end devices are not. We're hard on the equipment for sure but these seem to hold up fine, I don't feel I need to pay up for combat ready durability. - The world wide web has plenty of solutions to common challenges since these devices are so widely used. Cons: - I think all of these rifle-scope format devices, regardless of brand, have terrible user interfaces when using them thru the scope menu and ATN is no exception, it is clumsy. Try using the phone for setup when possible - much easier. - I've found that the eye relief pieces on ATN could stand better design for durability, I've had the rubber crack on one, on the digital scopes the don't stay on well. ATN has replaced the items on request, no problem. - The marketing pictures you see of the scope in use show all the data that you see when looking through the scope, but the images (still and video) that the scope records do not show all that fun information, I think they should. ... show more

I purchased one this scopes about 4 years ago and I love it. I have shared several pictures and videos on Facebook and my YouTube channel. And gotten a lot of good comments. I highly recommend this scope to anyone.
