We ordered this unit, despite all the negative reviews. We are VERY happy with the product! Package arrived in great shape - a few "bruises" but zero damage to any of the parts. All the parts and required hardware were in the box. Yes, the broken bits of styrofoam packing makes a mess, but it did its job of protecting the contents from shipping damage. Assembly is not complicated, as long as you read the instructions, study the diagrams, and take your time. All the pre-drilled holes lined up properly and were in perfect condition, NONE of the connecting hardware pieces broke or pulled out during assembly. Standing the unit upright after nailing the back on was a little scary - we could feel some "flex" in the structure, but it held together fine. Moved unit into position, and attached the "anti tip-over" brackets. After that, the whole thing felt very secure and stable. Despite being constructed from "cheap" materials, the finished product looks very nice in our media room, and will provide much needed storage. Now we just need to decide on optimum shelf spacing for storing a combination of CDs and DVDs, and get it loaded! ... show more

This is a wobbly piece of crap. The directions were confusing to follow, for starters. The metal locking mechanisms often BROKE as you tried locking them in place due to being too thin for the job, assuming they locked in at all, as some outright refused. The pegs were too small and slipped out of the boards while trying to connect them. Even once it was assembled, we went to stand it up and boards that were locked in place FELL OUT, as if held together with wet tissue paper. My grandfather had to buy angled brackets to finally assemble the thing since the provided equipment was not working out in the slightest. Save your money, buy literally anything else. ... show more

This is the same as the Atlantic 38435617 Oskar sold for the past 10+ years. Only difference is the part/model number listed in the Amazon description. Like the previous Oskar, this can be challenging to assemble. The main problem being part "R", the locking screws. Those need some extra pressure and torque to lock, but not so much that you damage something. If these aren't properly locked, the whole unit will be wobbly and might collapse when you turn it over to nail the back cover on. Even if they are locked tight, it's best to nail the back on with the unit standing up. Once the back cover is nailed in place and the unit secured to a wall, it's fairly sturdy and can handle music/movies/games without a problem. Adding 1" L-shaped brackets all around the corners can make it more rigid if the locked screws get ripped out during assembly. Quality furniture is expensive so you can't expect too much from these cheap things. With that said I'd rather pay a little more for a better design, something without the locking screws and wooden pegs that hold the two halves together. Better instructions would be nice too. The drill bit size needed for the drywall anchors supplied isn't even specified (it's 1/4"). Final complaint: the packing Styrofoam always breaks apart inside the box into tiny pieces that cling to everything. Taking all the wood out of the box creates a huge mess with everything covered with a layer of fine dust and bits of white packing foam. You will struggle to find a cheaper media storage of this size for this price. The base could be improved so it's not so unsteady. I've put 5 of these together and it takes patience and making sure you put supports under it as you build it or pieces will crack or stress fracture. Well looks like the one stars are winning on this product. Hello, first time here to rate an item. These shelves are cheap, simple, built to last forever if never moved and messed with. What are people expecting? Oh yes the building of the shelves is a pain and there's a comment on here about building them face down. I highly recommend that. You can not flip this over and put the back on. So build it face down, add the back then tip it sideways and then add the bottom and then pick it up from the top to let it slide in place upright. Since I've done it this way, it has not broke on me. So to the guy that first mentioned this, thanks a million. But serious folks, it's a cheap half way decent piece of crap that holds your hobbies. It's not something you're going to find in the millionaire store. Pick your battles. Want something that looks decent, holds your hobbies and doesn't take up much space, trust me as I have 17 of these. Then get this item. You will be glad you bought it if you collect cds. That's my hobby. Enjoy and don't knock everything you out together. If you're building like me, it's sometimes the operator too lol. Thanks for reading, now spend that money! ... show more

The wood that this was made with was very cheap and the hardware did not sit in the holes properly. The cam locks did not secure properly and in the end upon final assembly, it broke trying to stand this up from the floor. This broke under its own weight. Very upset would not recommend. And the shelves are too narrow for dvds and they are close to falling off until there's enough weight for the shelf to stay in place. ... show more

Shelf's been up for 8+ months, loaded to the brim with Blu-rays, and I've had zero issues with it! Excellent quality, easy to put together, and a great capacity for whatever you're looking to display. Very happy with the purchase! If you're looking for something that will support a ton of physical media and look sharp while doing it, this is it. I'm probably gonna need to order another at some point to house the spill-over of movies that don't quite fit (this isn't even including my DVD's... Physical Media, woo!). ... show more
